POPSProof positive about the IQ War This election brought it out, and drew the line, made plain the enemy. The goofs, the lower crust, let them clamor, but dear god, let us not lose grip and let "The Stupids" ever again have any chance to decide an election. let them have their delusions, fears and close-minded back water weirdness.

POPSMuslim McCain staff, fans, confront anti-Islam pitchman This is cheerful: At McCain rally, a McCain staffer who is a Muslim, along with many passers-by, confront an anti-Muslim, anti-Obama pamphleteer. "Are you trying to lose this election for us?" "That's it; I'm voting for Obama." "I'm a Muslim and John McCain endorsed my run for Congress." Bravo! for some decent and courageous folks. Since it's a Brightcove video (3:09), click thru to the site - well worth it!

POPSMuslim McCain Fans Confront Intolerance At Rally I give credit to the people, including the McCain campaign person, who cleared the bigot/idiot out of there. The other McCain supporters who pushed this racist person out of the rally also handled the situation well.

POPSMuslim McCain Fans Confront Intolerance At Rally Video after the link and it finally restores my faith in McCain / Palin supporters. It's good to see some people standing up and denouncing these tactics. I still think it should be McCain / Palin doing the denouncing though.

POPSLow Information Voters I run into these people a lot here in Georgia. People that make up their minds based on bumper stickers and 30 second TV ads. In a country with such promise, there is a huge swath of people that are, IMO, wasting the potential of this free society to learn, grow, and advance the human condition. Dare I use the word shallow?

POPSWhere Sara Ruled Edwards said she believes, as does Palin, that creationism ought to be taught in schools along with evolution, and that Barack Obama must be stopped. And Edwards assured me that humans have nothing to do with climate change, a position her pal Sarah used to share but has backed away from in recent weeks, saying that "some of man's activities" are "potentially causing some of the changes in the climate right now." Munger, who writes the Progressive Alaska blog, told me Palin is not just a creationist, but a "young Earth" creationist who believes that man and dinosaurs once shared the planet, and that the world will end in her lifetime. Palin-tology, you might call it. Can anyone feel good about supporting a vice presidential candidate who ruled a town with worse municipal planning than we have in Los Angeles?"

POPSSlavery Gets Shit Done Ye shall know them by their fruit. It's not hard to imagine what sort of values young master Schaffer was raised with. Maybe he has a future in conservative talk radio.

POPSProfessor Ticketed for "No to Empire" Bumper Sticker This is probably one of those misleading articles written by liberals. The cop was doing his job because the sticker was on the back windshield and we can't prove that that cop never ever ticketed other cars with bumper stickers on the same location, but about opposite political point of view. Here's the best part of their conversation. "I asked to get the spelling of his name and told him I’ll be doing a press release on this," Ovetz said. "And I asked him, "What if the sticker had said, Yes to Empire, would you have still ticketed me?’ " According to Ovetz, Officer Mitchell responded: "I don’t care if you’re a Star Wars fan, or not."

POPSCause For Alarm "Mr. Boren believes that the combination of unrestrained partisanship and the corrosive influence of big money have all but paralyzed the political process. He worries about the neglect of the nation’s infrastructure, about the growing divide between the very wealthy and everyone else, and about “the catastrophic drop in the way the rest of the world views us.” Listen, I love my country, but the writing is on the wall. We can't ignore this any longer or there will be great suffering. The alarm is ringing loud . . . just listen.

POPSThree Distinct Strands The hard left is the core left, the armature without which the other factions would fall apart. They are directly descended from the communist groups (the CPUSA, Trotsyites, and so forth) of the ‘30s and ‘40s, through New Left organizations such as the SDS and the Weathermen. The hard left consists of intelligentsia and activists, people who spend their lives reading Alinsky http://www.fraw.org.uk/library/002/anarchism/alinsky_radical.html and Gramsci http://www.marxists.org/archive/gramsci/intro.htm and trying their damndest to put those dicta into practice. They are usually found in universities and surrounding communities, though they are also present in left-wing think tanks and lobbying outfits. Most of us will go through life without ever knowingly encountering one of them. Through their intellectual control over the much larger wimp left (who would be utterly lost without their direction), they possess influence all out of proportion to their numbers.

POPSChurch and State Collide On the Highway "More to the point: If your faith is so strong that it would inspire you to voluntarily stand in line at the DMV — and let’s face it, that’s strong — then why do you need it stamped in cold, hard metal on your vehicle’s ass?"

POPSFat people next on the list........ Moonbattery.com: Environmentalists frequently scream that there are too many people on the planet, implying some will have to go. We already knows who goes last (environmentalists), but who goes first? LiveScience has the answer: overweight Americans. n the United States, obesity is at an all-time high; two-thirds of adults in the Land of Plenty are overweight or obese. Obesity is perhaps the ultimate symbol of resource consumption; it's visible proof that overweight people already has more than they need — and take more anyway. Overweight people create more air pollution than thin people do. It's simple physics: Extra pounds translate into extra fuel in automobiles and airplanes. Extra fuel means increased energy usage, oil drilling, and air pollution. (Plus you can get more soap and lampshades out of overweight people.)

POPS"There are two kinds of Republicans: millionaires and suckers." I'd like to suggest a very simple strategy for American liberals: Get mean. Stop policing the language and start using it to hurt our enemies. American liberals are so busy purging their speech of any words that might offend anyone that they have no notion of using language to cause some salutary pain. Why, for example, not popularize slogans that mock the Bush loyalists as "suckers"? Something like, "There are two kinds of Republicans: millionaires and suckers." Put that on a few bumper stickers and I guarantee a lot of "South Park Republicans" will quit the GOP. They just smirk when you tsk-tsk at them for being disrespectful. They want to be disrespectful; every normal young male wants to be. ...Alternet
