POPSBill To Increase Domestic Oil Production Included in the legislation is a measure authored by Senator Jim Bunning which would establish a program to help support and promote clean, coal-to-liquid fuels. “I appreciate Senator Bunning’s leadership on the issue of promoting greater use of technology to convert coal into liquid fuel,” Senator McConnell said. “The more fuel derived from coal we can use, the less oil we will need, thus reducing prices at the pump.” Coal is a vital part of America’s energy production, and an important part of Kentucky’s economy and history. The coal industry creates over 60,000 jobs in Kentucky, including approximately 15,000 coal miners. Over half of the country’s electricity is generated by coal, and coal constitutes over 90 percent of America’s fossil-fuel resources.

POPSOpen letter to the president One of the biggest lies about the recent immigration bill is that it is a 'comprehensive' bill. Fact is, all the border enforcement provisions in the bill are already authorized under law. And in the case of the physical security, the fence bill passed last year authorizes more than the current bill does. In other words, it offers absolutely nothing when it comes to security if we would just enforce the laws already enacted. The bill offers nothing but amnesty to millions of people here illegally. And if we can't currently stem the tide of illegals entering the country, what will amnesty do to help?

POPSAmerica's Dumbest Congressmen My favorites: Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) making up an excuse to do a debate with his opponent over a satelite linkup, allowing him to read from a teleprompter Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) telling law enforcement officials to be wary of Arabs who "drive taxicabs by day and kill at night". Representative J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) approving of the nativist writings of notorious anti-Semite Henry Ford Representative Donald Young (R-AK) telling high school students that the NEA funds art depicting "buttfucking" Representative Katherine Harris (R-FL) telling voters that a Middle Eastern terorrist was arrested trying to blow up the power grid of Carmel, IN (which came as a surprise to Carmel's mayor and to Indiana's governor). Also: Harris telling her staffters that a speech they had submitted to her was "terrible"--even though it was written by herself two months earlier!
