POPSZogby Pre-election Final: Obama 54, McCain 43 Nov 4 poll. Zogby is usually most accurate, we will see. Note that McCain has only 75 percent of conservative vote (even with Palin) , many bailed out on him. Republicans should make a careful note of this. As I clipped previously, McCain lost considerable "conservatives" and "moderates" from his party , and then gets romped by "independents" going to Obama (if this poll holds true). Moral: "If you stand for nothing you lose everything". I also believe the "fear tactics" backfired (while several issues are legitimate, including blatant communistic policies of Obama)--largely because of the LIES OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION casting its shadow over Republicans, which cause Fear tactics to be outright rejected now, without consideration. I received two robo-calls for McCain, one from Robert Duvall and another from a male country performer (Merle Haggard?). Desperate "get out the vote" moves, which people likely hang up on.

POPSIt's Over: Obama 49, McCain 43 in Zogby Tracking Zogby is usually right on the mark. Independent voters make the difference if this extrapolation holds true. Meanwhile, the Constitution Party candidate is calling traditional conservatives and friends of limited, constitutional government (which Bush has trampled) to "not waste a vote on McCain", since he will lose: Ladies and gentlemen, Barack Obama is headed for an electoral landslide victory over John McCain. John McCain can no more beat Barack Obama than Bob Dole could beat Bill Clinton. I ask, therefore, Are not conservatives and Christians who vote for John McCain guilty of the same thing that they accuse people who vote for third party candidates of doing? Are they not voting for someone who cannot win? I like this quote, if only everyone would do this: As John Quincy Adams said, "Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone..."

POPSMcCain Puts His Chips on PA, WI, and MN The problem with this strategy is that it's insane. Minnesota, for example, is so far from competitive that Politico's swing state map doesn't even list it anymore. I went to Electoral-Vote.com and got these numbers -- McCain is the lower number in each case: Minnesota - 54%-43% Pennsylvania - 50%-43% Wisconsin - 49%-43% Maybe PA and WI make sense, but MN? Seriously, I don't see the reasoning.

POPSPoll: 72% of Americans Do Not Support Bailout This is somewhat dated but the principle is the same. It also shows that the final vote of Congress was NOT out of line with the American public. Look closely at these statistics. The market is a sick patient and the only remedy is to let the market throw up and disgorge itself of the debts it has ingested. Force-feeding it to make it feel better will not cure, but even worsen the convulsions later.

POPSMcCain's Foreign Policy: Global Democratic Gang McCain calls for a "League of Democracies" for the purposes of "peace" but actually for war. Its key principle is "entangling alliances" which George Washington warned against, starting with NATO as its foundation. This is actually an old plan and precisely what the UN is all about except it cuts China and Russia out. This is consistent with George Bush (Bush 41) "new world order" speech where he talked about a United Nations that lives up to the intention of its founders, as he launched Iraq War I. GWB 43 has also made reference to similar principles while already by-passing the UN when it is reluctant to launch a war. Actually it makes little difference, except to show that Russia and China will be cut out of decisions because they will be the new targets of contest under his neocon vision. The call to "make the world safe for democracy" (like Wilson and FDR) has been the foundation of world wars, and likely more.

POPSMcCain's Version of 'Leadership' So basically, he had to rush off to Washington to keep a chair warm. Nice stunt. The piece goes on: Sen. Chris Dodd said, “Instead of being a rescue plan for our economy it was a rescue plan for John McCain .” Sen. Chuck Schumer urged Bush to “respectfully tell Sen. McCain to get out of town. He’s not helping .” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid added, “We had Senator Bennett, a high ranking official, who said these are the principles. And then, guess who came to town? And it all fell apart.” Leadership? I don't think so.

POPSPoll Shows Gross Miscalculation on McCain's Part The results of a SurveyUSA poll on whether the debate should be cancelled, as McCain suggests. Opinions seem to be rapidly moving away from McCain's position here -- today, 75% think it should go on, rocketing up from 50% yesterday. It's starting to look like John really pulled a boner here.

POPSThe "TR" Swear Words Remember the infamous "L" (liberal) word? Well, it might have been replaced by 2 new swear words: "TR" or "typical Republican." It's now a curse to be a "typical Republican" and John McCain is one in the minds of the public.

POPSAmerica's Broken Infastructure "But the bailout won't solve the longer-term problem, which is threefold: The country doesn't invest enough in transportation infrastructure, it often spends money on the wrong things, and the current gas tax is no longer a viable funding source. Congress will have to address all of these issues when it crafts the next transportation bill." However, I do NOT agree with a vehicle mileage tax. What I'd like to see is corporate welfare and war profiteering abolished. That ought to free up some funds to invest in ourselves for a change.

POPSGOP-ers weigh in on Bush's eight years That may be but the bubble of self-inflicted delusion is alive and well: "I regard Bush 43 as one of the greatest presidents of the last century, right up there with Reagan, and I have tremendous respect and admiration for what he's done," said Clint Moore, a Texas delegate. In what parallel universe?

POPSA federal court rejects Bush's "executive privilege" claims And did some liberal "I make the law from the bench" write this ruling? Errrm....NO! "as a Federal District Judge, John D. Bates of the District of Columbia District Court -- a Bush 43-appointed (and generally very pro-Bush-administration) Judge as well as the former Deputy Independent Counsel for the Whitewater investigations -- held in a 93-page ruling (.pdf) that Bush aides Harriet Miers (former White House counsel) and Josh Bolten (White House Chief of Staff) are not entitled to absolute immunity from Congressional subpoenas."

POPSYou Say tomato, Big Business said TOMATO.
LET'S CALL THE WHOLE THING OFF! More Bush Administration's HANDIWORK, to make you Sick, REALLY SICK! Under pressure in 2003 and 2004, the White House agreed to dilute record-keeping proposals by FDA safety experts. "If the FDA had been given the resources and authority years ago that it asked for to solve these kinds of problems, I think we would have solved this already," said W. Hubbard, a former FDA associate commissioner. Tommy Thompson, who was health secretary during the industry's lobbying campaign, acknowledged that a more robust food-tracking system — opposed by business groups as too expensive — could have helped stem the current illnesses More Here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080725/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/salmonella_lobbying --- Hey Folks, we're sitting ducks to Big Business desires... POPSBush 41 Endorses McCain, Criticizes GOP Pundits Both Bush 41 and 43 have now have supported McCain, while republicans protest McCain. Just more evidence that republican party is destroyed, has no firm principles. It is no longer just Ron Paul supporters that feel disenfranchised. The neocons have seized control. What goes around....

POPSPelosi will not meet with Nirenberg
An early experience should have been a portent of things to come: Visiting the National Archives building, which houses the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, he and a group of like-minded supporters were blocked from entering by security guards, who demanded they remove articles of clothing - hats, T-shirts, ponchos - carrying impeachment messages. While trying to arrange a meeting with Pelosi, whose office repeatedly said she was unavailable, Nirenberg held a press conference, gave interviews, and visited other Congressional offices to bend the ears of lawmakers (or at least their staffers) about their positions on impeachment. He got up to a speed of visiting 15 offices per hour. In most every case, Congress members were not available. Nirenberg delivered his talking points, and perhaps the names of constituents who wanted their views passed on; staff members noted his interest, and that was that. At the office of Rep. Wally Herger, R-Calif., he asked the young staffers,
