Cold War Hawks Nesting With Obama
papananook
by papananook  11-12-2008    2
Read the whole article for Scheer's view on the business of Hawks in Obama's camp. Disturbing, to say the least, isn't it? Too may Hawks are pouncing on Obama's popularity and could easily co-opt what could have been a new way to Peace. Alas, I am pessimistic about this not-so-new set of policy advisors, like Zbiegnew Brezinski. He reminds me of that ass Kissinger...

OSCE 'failed' in Georgia warnings
ratcatcher2
by ratcatcher2  11-7-2008
Was it deliberate that the reports were ignored? Who else knew of Saakashvili intent to invade? How much more blood is on Bush's hands? The killing of civilians to achieve ethnic cleansing is so reminiscent of Israel methods in the M-East. Of course the Georgian troops were all trained by IDF officers, so any regard for human life is pointless.

This Election Was Personal - And Angry
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-6-2008    4
The elections were only the first step. A promise of change. Now, we wait... Obama was elected and that gives great hope, but the problems still remain. Unjust greed-driven wars, torture, economic turmoil etc. There is still a lot of anger out there, so please don't blow it, America. Don't let the world wait in vain for common sense and peace to prevail. Keep the pressure on for change. The world is sick and tired of war. Aren't you?

What will the Obama's First Actions Be?
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-5-2008
I love the first pic. on this page (wouldn't clip) What will the Obama White House Be Like? IMO (and some others) Very, very slow and careful; methodical General Petraeus has already been order to start withdrawing troops from Iraq. (in Obama's Victory Speech) All parties will be included in the Administration and others, these folks will be given orders to accomplish things. His brass knuckles just announced Chief of Staff (Ron Emanuel) will frequently go over to the Democratic Congress and beat their brains out and kick their ass until they do what Obama wants. With Democrats having a majority in both Houses legislation will quickly pass and there will be no filibusters because Obama will get 8 or 9 Republicans to go along with him. Pakistan will either kill or deliver bin Laden or agree to let a strike team of Special Forces in to get him ourselves; or we will go in whether Pakistan likes it or not. A massive program for alternative energy will begin.

Asia News gives: 8 Reasons Why Obama Will Win.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  11-4-2008
It turns out the article concludes with their "8 Reasons Why Obama Will Lose. But reason r #8 way wrong-- Obam's campaign, without doubt, has been way more about Skill rather than Luck. And his endurance and follow through incredible. American politicians and political scientist will be studying this campaign like those who like military would always do some study of Napoleon. It's brilliant. It's historic. It has set not only new records and standards but done something that a lot of 'genius,' leaders have done: Obama's overall strategy defied contemporary wisdom, broke with tradition and then moved in real close for "the kill," blasting away with the standard 'weapons,' and parameters of victory. Like the overall strategy of North Vietnam General Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap at Dien Bien Phu against the French and at Khe Sanh against the Americans. Or Admiral Nelson at Trafalgar. General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge. Toussaint L'Ouverture Or USA Chess champion

Vision of Obama's assassin . .
cakebelly
by cakebelly  11-4-2008    7
continues: Mr Johnes, who also claims to have foreseen the flooding which occurred around Britain last winter, says the vision came before him when he was praying at his home in Kingston Close. Describing the experience, Mr Johnes, who is originally from Sri Lanka, said: "I have three types of vision, one kind when I am tired, when it comes to me, the other is when I see him before my eyes like a screen, and the other I can just hear his voice. "In August, I saw clearly a picture of Obama and then a man carrying a gun in a box who was getting into a car. "I went to the American Embassy and wrote to George Bush, but I did not receive a reply. "The Lord asked me to protect Mr Obama because he is doing the Lord's work like me." It therefore came as no surprise to him when news broke two weeks ago that two men, who describe themselves as neo-Nazis, were arrested for trying to kill Senator Obama and his supporters at an election rally. Mr Johnes added: "I had a feeling in

Juan Cole's "The Coming McCain Military Draft"
cptenaud
by cptenaud  11-3-2008    1
McCain will need to institute a draft for young American men (and, given the times, maybe for women as well). McCain, just like the recent Bush Administration's hawkish rhetoric has been proven by the Russian/Georgian conflict to be nothing more than a bluff. Sure, there was a lot of tough talk and fist shaking at the Russians but no real actions were taken against them either by the Bush Administration. I wonder if those young McCain supporters realize what they are asking for? I doubt it. Though many of us already were seeing the writing on the wall, after many started serving in these theaters on second tours, than third, than forth, than for some fifth......................, the Military nor Country can sustain these misadventures let alone protect from the Blowback which will be from the Hatreds we've created!

Palin's Gone Wild: "Rogue Diva" vs McCain Advisers
blueridge
by blueridge  10-26-2008    7
I knew this would happen. She has been handled, and that is something her history shows she does not like. Sarah is impossible to tame. McCain has a problem, and Sarah appears to be out for (no surprise here), Sarah. McCain's first crisis is his own pick for VP. This blog covers it well, along with CNN. Now read how this one adviser hauls off and knocks Palin right in the chops: "She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. "Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom." WOW...THIS ADVISER IS RIGHT! If anyone can read her history and character, this McCain adviser just hit the proverbial nail on the head. THIS IS THE REAL SARAH PALIN, WHO HAS JUST BEEN VETTED.

Divisive politics is anti-American-Olbermann
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  10-22-2008
Good video summary of of the vile and dangerous trash talk of the neocon, neofascist Republican party candidates, officials, and some of their supporters at rallies With thug, un-American tactics they accuse Obama of being 'un-American - and they have done to any other critics of the last eight years of the nightmare of the Bush Administration. What are "un-American," tactics? -- Well, the majority of us think we have the right to speak what we want and not get threatened with death, and the right to challenge leaders who are the real "false patriots," hiding behind the flag or the cross (or David's star). Using words to spread lies, divisiveness, hate and fear is what I'd consider "un-American," I think Bush is a fascist, 4excample, but I don't try to shut down his speaking; I don't threaten his life; I just want to vote him out of office and urge his trial for war crimes. That's using the tool of democracy and seeking justice through the courts.

Spreading the wealth? US already does it
lifecyce1898
by lifecyce1898  10-22-2008
the gap between rich and poor Americans has grown markedly in recent years as middle-class wages remained largely stagnant while corporate profits and high-earners' salaries soared. McCain, like President Bush, wants to "give more and more to those with the most, and hope prosperity trickles down to everyone else." The RNC is counting on us being ignorant enough to vote against our own interests, and why shouldn't they? It's been working for a long time.

Are the Bushies trying to retain control after January 20th?
Kelika
by Kelika  10-12-2008
More: "Noting that Bill Clinton also ordered up a transition council on Nov. 27, 2000, Light called his "similar but without all the bells and whistles." Among other things, the Bush executive order could keep agencies busy preparing briefing materials and a Transition Directory to include "federal publications and other materials that provide information on each executive department and agency." Cynics might wonder if the Bush team wants to keep its hands in before the order expires on Feb. 20, 2009, one month after the new president takes office. Whatever the motives, said Light, one of the presidential candidates will need the help more than the other. "McCain has done almost nothing about the transition," he said, except to criticize Obama for saying in mid-summer that he was appointing a team to begin contingency planning."

Time’s Karen Tumulty, who spotted racist goblins in the recent McCain ad criticizing Obama for seeking advice from Fannie Mae corruptocrat Franklin Raines. A parade of congressional witch hunters for Obama also detects the specter of George Wallace behind every policy bush. Democratic New York Gov. David Paterson says conservative criticism of Obama’s community organizing days is code for “black.” Democratic Rep. Gregory Meeks complained to the New York Observer: “They are trying to throw out these codes.” In the same piece, Democratic Rep. Yvette Clark divined segregationist intent in Palin’s references to Joe Six-Pack and hockey moms. “It leaves a lot of people out.” And Democratic Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid echoed Time’s Tumulty on the McCain camp’s Obama/Raines broadsides: “The only connection that people could bring up about Raines and Barack Obama is that they both are African-American, other than that there is nothing.”

Palin Must Condemn Hateful Obama Attacks.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  10-10-2008
VP Democratic candidate, Senator Joe Biden is confronting what he calls the "ugly," and "dangerous," recent Republican campaign rallies where members of the crowd are shouting out about Obama: "Treason!" and "Kill him!" Those are very appropriate words. Over the last week, here at Clipmarks, other forums, on radio, TV, in the newspapers and magazines there is a shocking virulent outburst of hate against Obama, trying to associate him with "domestic terrorism," and being a supporter of 'Islamofacsist," (the neocon propagada term the Republicans wave like a red flag). In this age of 24-hour media coverage there is the real possibility of such vocal and visible fascist-like hatred and attempts to distort elections and destroy opponents can succeed. It was done in the 2000 elections in the USA, which Al Gore won and Bush stole in Florida, with the help of a shouting mob. We have to not only stand strong against this, but fight back, word for word -- & Vote Obama, Please
