POPSBackdoor Legislation: Obama Signs Hate Crimes Bill with Defense Bill How to Pass Unpopular Legislation 101: Attach them to Defense Spending. This is how Bush administration got through REAL ID. This is contrary to the purpose of Congress which should read and debate ONE BILL AT A TIME, instead of this fraudulent manipulation through "must pass" Defense bills. As for the bill itself, while a woman could slap a man for being too forward in a bar now normal men cannot do the same to a pressing homosexual who might "hit on them" without being charged with a new Federal "Hate Crime". Some are just "more equal than others" now and have Special Protection of the Federal government ABOVE all other U.S. citizens.

POPS Is Obamacare Constitutional? “The Tenthers.” I recently started seeing a few references to this term in the standard places, Alternet, ThinkProgress, and elsewhere. But now it seems to have come from on high like the NeoCons did with every new buzzword during the Bush years. In fact, its usage has come on so fast and so regularly that someone over at the Washington Times picked up on the newly-approved jargon: Health care reform supporters at the Center for American Progress, the American Prospect, MSNBC and other outlets have deployed the term against Republicans who cite the 10th Amendment as reason not to create new programs. Some of the leading Republican proponents of the allegedly “dangerous” and “conspiratorial” theory include Sens. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma and Jim DeMint of South Carolina, and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota. “As the nation emerges from the worst economic downturn in three generations, the tenthers would strip away the very reforms and economic

POPSRemembering 9/11, Eight Years Later the ideological battlefield. As someone who was galvanized into a political awakening and eventual transformation by 9/11, it has been disheartening to see the country slide back into somnolence. Indeed, I have wondered at times whether we have entered a post-post-9/11 age. I believe the memory still lingers in our collective consciousness, but it has retreated to the farther reaches. When one looks at history, this depressing pattern emerges time and time again. One has to wonder if human beings generally don't learn from history, but rather, are doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. Jolted out of slumber every so often by horrific events, we then sink back into oblivion once the threat no longer seems urgent. A few will always stand on the sidelines trying to bring attention to the looming threat of the day, but by and large, we only listen when forced. Nonetheless, the fight must go on, for the alternative is far too frightening.

POPSWhy The Left is Horrified at Joe Wilson's Liar Statement Joe Wilson only said what 75% of the American people were thinking. And since the Democrats won't even meet with Republicans to discuss health care reform; since they reject tort reform; since they really do allow illegal immigrants to get free health care; since they lie repeatedly about improving care; since simple mathematics refutes the concept of adding tens of millions to the health care system while 'improving care', 'covering preexisting conditions' and 'not adding to the deficit'... well, there are about 200 million Americans who think that Obama is lying. And the Democrats will be committing political suicide in 2010 if they try to ram this tyrannical, socialist fraud down the American people's throats.

POPS The Alinsky Administration Some liberals have been stunned by the serial about-faces on extraordinary rendition, indefinite detention without trial, military-tribunal trials, the state-secrets doctrine, and other policies they associate with the Bush administration. Former supporters of Obama, including David Brooks, Christopher Buckley, Jim Cramer, and Warren Buffett, have expressed varying degrees of criticism of his early moves, surprised that he is more hostile to the free market than they had thought. One of Alinsky’s first lessons is: “Radicals must have a degree of control over the flow of events.” Setting aside the Right’s habitual complaint about the pliant liberal media, Obama has dominated the news by unveiling a new initiative or giving a major speech on almost every weekday of his presidency. The constant parade of events large and small ensures that whenever unpleasant news arises and overtakes the desired message —

POPSAre You, Or Have You Ever Been, A Member Of The Tea Party Coalition?
By pressing Armey to repudiate "Nazi imagery," some viewers might have been led to think that ObamaCare protesters are turning up in brown shirts, etc. In fact, of course, some protesters have analogized Dem leaders to Nazis. You can debate the wisdom of the tactic, but this is just the opposite of using "Nazi imagery" to embrace it. I'm not sure which video of Ybor City Maddow is referring to. The Tea Party web site has an entire page of videos, 39 of them. It includes this one of a demonstration in Tampa, but there is nothing vaguely violent about it. I did find another site with several videos from the event. While there is mutual finger-pointing aplenty, it seems clear that SEIU union members were at least as likely responsible for the brouhaha as anyone else. Morever, the protesters were angered about the fact that the Dem elected officials who organized the event used two doors: one to let in supporters, another apparently to keep out protesters. For Maddow to point the

POPSMexican Standoff: Obama Pressed to Renounce North American Union Nor is this coalition giving Bush a pass in this non-partisan issue: "The members and supporters of The American Cause hereby call on President Obama to renounce at the North American Leaders Summit in Guadalajara the failed and destructive Bush policy of moving the United States, Mexico and Canada towards any sort of union or integration.

POPSBush As The Joker Obama’s predecessor endured 8 Years of Assassination Fascination. Actually, the “Assassinate Bush Chic” began even before the 2000 election, when Craig Kilborn flashed “snipers wanted” under a picture of Bush. So-called “newsmen” like Keith Olbermann repeatedly called the president “a fascist” and “a terrorist.” And Obama supporters can’t handle The Joker and the word “Socialism”? Politics is ugly, and it is often over-the-top but that’s not new. Photoshop happens; it’s a free country. I myself have been photoshopped next to a dancing condom, a commentary on my annoying habit of being a Catholic. Bob Owens amuses himself thusly: Frankly, I don’t get it. One embraces terrorists and madmen, is dedicated to anarchy and the destruction of capitalist society, and sends the population fleeing in horror from his creations. The other is a fictional character played by the late Heath Ledger. http://michellemalkin.com/2009/08/04/how-quickly-they-forget/

POPSPower Shifts in Plan for Capital Calamity Supporters of the plan inside the Bush White House, including Vice President Dick Cheney’s office, saw the erratic response to the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005 as a mandate for streamlining an emergency response process they considered clunky because it involved too many agencies.

POPSIndia to issue all 1.2 billion citizens with biometric ID cards
Keeping tabs around the world • Compulsory national identity cards are used in about 100 countries including Germany, France, Belgium, Greece, Luxembourg, Portugal and Spain • ID cards are not used in the US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the Irish Republic or Nordic countries • German police can detain people who are not carrying their ID card for up to 24 hours • The Bush Administration resisted calls for an identity card in the US after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 • In Australia street protests in the 1980s forced the Government to abandon its plans for a card • Plastic cards are favoured over paper documents because they are harder to forge • Most identity cards contain the name, sex, date of birth and a unique number for the holder • South Korean, Brazilian, Italian and Malaysian ID cards contain fingerprints. Cards in some countries contain information on any distinguishing marks of the holder • Objections t

POPSAre the Iranian Election Protests Another US Orchestrated ‘Color Revolution’? "Neoconservative Kenneth Timmerman wrote the day before the election that “there’s talk of a ‘green revolution’ in Tehran.” How would Timmerman know that unless it was an orchestrated plan? Why would there be a ‘green revolution’ prepared prior to the vote, especially if Mousavi and his supporters were as confident of victory as they claim? This looks like definite evidence that the US is involved in the election protests." So quickly Americans forget how the US was involved with the 1953 Iranian "coup d´état" that deposed the democratically-elected government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mosaddeqh. it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if the CIA is behind it all. The plot thickens...

POPSThe "Did You Knows" of Barack Hussien Obama Barack Obama is being hailed by his supporters as one of the greatest leaders to ever guide America. He is the voice of hope and change that this county is dying for. Unfortunately, when you look past the side issues and media hype, you discover that there is little meaning to his rhetoric. He is controlled by the same corporate and globalist interests that Bush and Clinton were controlled by. He is a C.F.R. puppet and it is very dangerous to blindly support him. For the record, I hated Bush too. The false left right paradigm is what got us here in the first place. If you strongly support Barack Obama, please watch this video and comment on how you feel. Give it one star if you want, I don't care. Just think for yourself.

POPSObama Justice Department Defends Defense Of Marriage Act – That Candidate Obama Opposed
Obama is the Alpha and he is the Omega. Gay organizations won't abandon a prominent Democrat who doesn’t help them on a key issue, even one who backs a law they strongly oppose. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) refused to rescind its endorsement of Bill Clinton when he signed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1996. They didn’t abandon President Clinton then. And they won’t abandon President Obama now. Funny because President Bush signed the Worker, Retiree and Employer Recovery Act of 2008 (WRERA) two days before Christmas. The new law makes it mandatory for businesses to roll over retirement benefits to a same-sex partner in the event of the employee’s death. How interesting that this hasn’t been well-reported because by signing this into law, George W. Bush had, by law, done more for the gay community than any other President in history. President William Jefferson Clinton, on the other hand, signed two laws (DOMA and DADT) that put gay rights progress into full revers

POPSMore CIA Torture Docs to be Made Public This Week and Next Continued: He eviscerates Dick Cheney's much publicized explanation of the CIA interrogation tactics. So, we've got a lot to look forward to over the next week. The un-redacted statements from "high-level members of al Qaeda" will be released on Friday. However, these won't do much sway the opinions of Bush defenders. The 2004 CIA Inspector General report, having been prepared while Bush was still in power, will be more difficult to deflect. We can expect the CIA IG report to be released on June 19. Let's just hope the CIA doesn't get carried away with the black marker.

POPS"....This Is Not Your Mother's Democratic Party This pretty well sums it up for me. I went to the public library today. I was met, outside the facility, by a petitioner who wanted me to sign something. I asked him who he represented. He muttered the "ACLU" and asked if I'd heard of ACORN. I was disgusted and walked away. I love the Library, but I know who *hangs out* there for the most part. There are many homeless, young blacks who lotter because there's nothing else to do, college-age who are looking for support/grants, greenies with their peace-not-war bags.etc. I have nothing against any of these people. They are living their lives and trying to receive help or promote their ideology. It's still a free Country...but I don't think a 2-time Bush supporter, Conservative, Republican Woman would have been the least interested in signing his petition. However, he knew where to station himself.

POPSSotomayor It is remarkable how many Americans of different states and upbringings cannto see how where you were born and raised makes a difference. Please make a comparison between the population of the center and the population form the west and east. You all know the differences of attitudes, beliefs and way a person projects herself makes a difference depending of your experiences and upbringing. Cowboy Bush was completely different from Obama , JFK, Johsnon, etc. One's upbringing can make a person more liable to lean to conservatism or liberalism, be religions or not, educated or not; there are economic as well as cultural inferences, pressures and influences. A person that has struggled and has placed a high value in education will most likely value and understand the needs of the people that lack those same opportunities, and in this sense will make a better judge when confronted with EVALUATING the specific challenges that have to be met by the law . POPSWhy Paula Abdul Should Waterboard Dick Cheney In the course of defending policies of the Cheney Bush Administration on the CBS television program “Face the Nation,” Mr. Cheney also said that the nation should be “prepared to sacrifice American lives.” Readers will recall with pride Mr. Cheney’s own eagerness forty years ago to make any sacrifice not entailing hardship, inconvenience, or delay in his career path.

POPSSpecial Interest or Public Interest? The doctrine has been carried into American common law via the Magna Carta and English Common Law. It has been argued that laws like the Endangered Species Act have extended the concept of the public trust to apply to the survival of animals and plant species. Politicians treat environmental organizations not as representatives of the public interest but as just another special interest whose power, influence – and campaign contributions – need to be considered and weighed against the power, influence – and campaign contributions – of corporate and other private interests. Water privatization and air pollution trading are two examples of environmental establishments being redefined as private. The drive to redefine water, air, wildlife and all things traditionally public as private is a radical development which conflicts with the bedrock values which prevailed during most of human history. The Public Trust Doctrine is slowly eroding away.

POPSBefore Reacting~Let's Think & Research (DHS) Not the report but the timing, leakage, and media distortions. Basement-blog mentality has overtaken the whole news media in style, substance, and message, as people we look to for leadership are ever the loose cannons. If there is to be a re-emergence of sensibility people need to speak out for just that. Mindless reactions do nothing good for anyone and likely make you a laughingstock. It is not so much the report's contents but when it was leaked and what the media did with it.

POPSSarah Palin and the 3-Step Libby Legal Defense Fund Palin should follow Scooter Libby's lead in securing the allegiance of a prominent member of the media to plead her case. For Libby, this faithful mouthpiece was failed CNN and MSNBC host Tucker Carlson. (At no time, of course, did Tucker inform viewers that his father Richard was a key adviser to the Libby legal defense fund.)
