Bugliosi on the Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder
tabsey
by tabsey  Today 3:56 AM    1
Sounds like the author can't get the media to help promote his book. Suggested that may be because Bush is being protected. Can't have little Georgie giving the family a bad name.

The Christian Party
reimers
by reimers  Yesterday 2:29 PM    1
George W. Bush transformed the center-right party of Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and his father, George H.W. Bush, into the political instrument of the religious right, tying the party to the evangelical protestants and to such Catholics as made the culture war central to their politics. In 2000 Bush-Cheney got 75 percent of the white evangelical vote.

Veterans Occupy Natioanl Archives, Again
spirithiker
by spirithiker  11-16-2008    1
Members of Veterans for Peace (VFP) chose the Archives for their nonviolent protest because it is symbolic of their military oath to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." In September they occupied the Archives for 24 hours, and plan to stay longer this time. Semper fi. Good luck to you all.

US/UK Intel Warns Obama of Transition Attack
blueridge
by blueridge  11-15-2008
Which would be too convenient for the neocon agenda (pro-war Biden and Rahm Emanuel, et al, already in place in the Obama administration), as well as too irrational for "Al Qaeda" to do, if the fictitious terrorists wanted to halt the war program under the "change" candidate. Really, what would their motive be? (Oh, "They are irrational zealots...and because they hate us because we are free and women can vote", of course). Biden already warned about this certain coming event to "test" Obama (or provide him a pretext to change). He is in the know. Biden already said "you may not agree with us, but we will need your support...mark my words". The only question is, will the public be fooled by this false flag attack, or fear propaganda again, to justify more wars for Democracy against an invisible enemy while the Intel officials always know their scheme and yet can never find them? Hayden confesses there is "no real or artificial spike" in intel to justify their assertion!

Currently we are slated to be there for at least late 2009: Defense Chief Robert Gates Says Presence Still Important In Wake Of Russia-Georgia War (AP) The United States will continue its troop presence in Kosovo until at least late next year, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said just before he arrived here Tuesday, reaffirming U.S. support for the world's newest nation in the face of stern opposition from Russia. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/07/world/main4505480.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_4505480

The Washington Independent on the prospect for “Church-Pike” hearings by the Senate Judiciary Committee, another great idea to hamstring and distract intelligence services in wartime that Obama may discover, sort of like closing Guantanamo, isn’t the greatest idea. Human rights groups want some drama with their national angst. Detainee Truth Commissions, please. Because fighting al-Qaeda = Apartheid.

Cold War Hawks Nesting With Obama
papananook

Read the whole article for Scheer's view on the business of Hawks in Obama's camp. Disturbing, to say the least, isn't it? Too may Hawks are pouncing on Obama's popularity and could easily co-opt what could have been a new way to Peace. Alas, I am pessimistic about this not-so-new set of policy advisors, like Zbiegnew Brezinski. He reminds me of that ass Kissinger...

Obama's 'Change' and Rahm-bo: Neo-conned Again?
blueridge
by blueridge  11-11-2008    7
This article, if read, will burst the bubble of belief by Obama cheerleaders. (Did Pelosi or a Dem Congress change anything either?) Roberts does not spare Obama any more than he did Bush: War policy: In “Hail to the Chief of Staff,” Alexander Cockburn describes Emanuel as “a super-Likudnik hawk,” who as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006 “made great efforts to knock out antiwar Democratic candidates.” The neoconservatives were and are intimately tied to the Israeli Likud Party with its militant Zionist war agenda for a "new middle east". On Economy: Obama’s advisers are drawn from the same gang of Washington thugs and Wall Street banksters as Bush’s. Consider Obama's support of Lieberman then too, who supported McCain and is another "super-Likudnik hawk" when it comes to Israel and war policy. Get the picture yet? Some very important policies (primary ones) will not "change" at a

The Case for U.S. Withdrawal from Afghanistan
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  11-11-2008    6
So if aerial bombardments and occupations give legitimacy to those very fundamentalists who Afghans would remove from power, what does the real war on fundamentalism look like? And it's not just that the Afghan population believes that the Taliban resistance is legitimate; that resistance is legitimate under international law. No less important a document than the United Nations charter gives the Taliban and other Afghans the right to legitimate self-defense against U.S. aggression. Instead of scaling up an already disastrous war, the United States should change it's course The whole article is worth a read.

Logic?
lifecyce1898
by lifecyce1898  11-11-2008    2
Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools. A president lying about an extramarital affair is a impeachable offense, but a president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery. Supporting "Executive Privilege" for every Republican ever born, who will be born or who might be born( in perpetuity.)
