POPSHalf of Primary Care Doctors in U.S. Would Leave Medicine Welcome to the world of Obama. Look to Canada for a good example of national medicine. Half of their primary card doctors left... Canada, and began their practice in the U.S. That left Canadians with too few doctors. Want to see a doc in Canada? Wait for a year, and end up with a Pakistani doctor and no other alternatives. Need an MRI? There is a 2 year wait. This is what Obamamania has in mind for you. You voted for him. You got him.

POPSAll there in my parallel universe another example from the article: "China, which is planning a series of different virtual worlds able to host not tens but hundreds of millions of avatars. The idea is to attract people (as avatars) from around the world to come and buy Chinese goods more cheaply from source. In this way they plan to capture the value added to a shirt that leaves a Chinese factory for a dollar but is sold in London for $20."

POPSAsking ‘Why Do Species Go Extinct?’
A. In 1978, I went to Hawaii, supposedly a tropical paradise. I am an enthusiastic birder, and I looked forward to getting into the lush forest to view the abundant flora and fauna the islands were famous for. Here you had this rich island chain, out in the midst of the Pacific, full of wondrous birds and plants — a place supposedly richer in natural diversity than even the Galápagos. I had brought with me field guides to the fauna and flora, all published in the early 1970s. Yet once in the Hawaiian forest, I had a shock: my books were listing species that were extinct — or about to become so. I was in the forest six days a week and I kept thinking, “If I give it enough time, I’ll certainly see most of the species still left.” But I saw very little. In fact, in Hawaii today, I’d say there are only about 10 remaining native land bird species, with another 10 clinging to survival. So suddenly this extinction business seemed very real. Whenever you’d meet biologists over coffee, th

POPSIll Health for Small Business To me the most striking statement in the entire article is "Mr. Obama has not released details". A week before the election and he won't say what his plan will require businesses to do??? Sure, because he knows it would cost him votes. After the election he'll be happy to tell us all about it.

POPS Obama And Frank: A Farwell To Arms Caucus for Priorities is a campaign of Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is to “change U.S. budget priorities to reflect a national commitment to education, healthcare, energy independence, job training and deficit reduction — at no additional taxpayer expense — by eliminating funding for unneeded Cold War-era weapons systems.” That will certainly deter a rearming and expansionist Russia, an ambitious China and a dangerous Iran. If Obama wins, the “obsolete Cold War weapons” to be done away with, to Russian and Chinese glee, include the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the F/A-22 Raptor to replace our aging F-15s, the wings of which are literally falling off. The Raptor can fly to and from Iranian nuclear facilities undetected should the need arise, as it very well may at some point.

POPSScottish Tory linked to Russian oligarch. There is an absolute fear in telling the truth about dealings with the mega rich Russians. They are steeped in the blood of their competitors, reign over a nation that has no concept of legal or moral justice, act like Czars in their own right...but the Russians are worse. Had anyone with a minute particle of a brain watched Labour destroy the last vestiges of democracy this week, their humiliation of all Parliamentary process, their complete denial of Parliament to debate whilst they GOVERN - is something that ought to send fear through the veins of every Briton. Now we are to believe that MI6 is working for the Master Party? They are all working for themselves and thanks to the Academic Idiot Osbourne, we can all see it for ourself.

POPSNo Friend To Small Business! (Hey Joe!)
At the same time that President Bush backed the $700 billion dollar Wall Street bailout, he continued to dismantle existing federal programs designed to assist American small businesses. During his two terms, President Bush has systematically dismantled each and every program established under the Small Business Act to assist American small businesses, especially those firms owned by women, minorities and veterans. President Bush's anti-small business policies began during his first week as president. The first thing he did to dismantle America's small business programs was to remove the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from the President's Cabinet. Then he began to cut the SBA's budget and staffing more than any other federal agency. Since 2003, over a dozen federal investigations have been released, which have all found rampant and government-wide fraud, abuse, loopholes and a blatant lack of proper oversight in federal small business contracting program.

POPSDid Barack "Spread the Wealth" Obama Just Blow the Election? My working assumption is that Obama is firmly within the mainstream of Democratic politics. But if he is as free with that sort of redistributive philosophy in private as he was on the campaign trail this week, I have no doubt that U of C professor really does figure him as a radical. And after last night's debate, a few more Americans might think that way, too. McCain's best line: "Now, of all times in America, we need to cut people's taxes. We need to encourage business, create jobs, not spread the wealth around." And by the way, I just noticed that the IBD/TIPP poll, the most accurate in 2004, has McCain down by just 3 points. If the contest is perceived by the voters as a contest between a wealth redistributor and a wealth creator, then it could be a long night come Nov. 4. This is still a center-right country, gang. Note this Gallup poll from June:

POPSFrance in Turmoil Over ''AngolaGate'' Scandal It all began with Richard Nixon, former murky President of USA and his Watergate. Today the media has created another in France: Angolagate. How cruel it is to stoke up a war for profit while people are killed in 1000s? Do these war mongers think of the poor innocents or simply concentrate on their money alone?

Note this Gallup poll from June: When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today's consumer, Americans overwhelmingly—by 84% to 13%—prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

POPSYouTube Begins Streaming Approved CBS Content YouTube and CBS have not disclosed their revenue sharing terms, but YouTube must be receiving less than 30 percent of the ad revenue, considering that CBS refused to join NBC and FOX at Hulu because it didn't want to give up the 30 percent revenue share that the site was asking for. Instead, CBS has chosen to do 80-20 deals with various syndication partners. YouTube accounts for 44.1 percent of online videos views in the U.S., compared to Hulu's one percent of views. YouTube has a long way to go achieve the viewing experience that Hulu presents, but if the video giant is willing to take a slightly smaller revenue share across the board, it may just have found a way to edge its way into the network business and eat Hulu's lunch.
