POPSBush cheers “free enterprise” as US capitalism goes bust "Bush's message to those assembling in Washington was clear: Nothing will be accepted that interferes with the unfettered accumulation of wealth by America's financial elite and the defense of their interests, regardless the cost to the world's population."

POPSFinally Bust at Liar's Poker "Sooner rather than later, there would come a Great Reckoning when Wall Street would wake up and hundreds if not thousands of young people like me, who had no business making huge bets with other people’s money, would be expelled from finance."

POPSRepublican Foot-Soldiers Vacating Washington Forced To Sell Homes In Terrible Market What was that about a "Permanent Republican Majority?" Speak louder, there's an immense chant of "YES WE CAN" in my ear. I have little to no sympathy. These are the foot-soldiers who've done Karl Rove's dirty work for 8 years. The fucking country imploded on their watch, due to their candidate's policies. They were the party in power that caused this massive housing bubble explosion and econopocalypse. Payback's a bitchs, ain't it? Go wander in the wilderness for a while and get your party's soul back. And if someone has to take it in the ass with no reach-around on their house, you're the ones who fought so hard for the system that led to this. Just shut up & go away. You hands-on fuckers aren't the people the John Wayne Chaser was meant for.

POPSDouble Voters - VA It'll be interesting to see if anything is done about this. It appears that it is pretty easy both to double vote but also to bust someone who double votes--if election officials decide to do anything about it.

POPSTeam McCain: Palin Gone 'Rogue' It gives you an idea of how chaotic the McCain campaign has become that this is happening and that, worse, advisers are talking to the media about it. It looks to me like it may be fingerpointing to save a reputation or two -- Palin's included. After all, these people still need to work after November and having "McCain campaign adviser" on your resume might not be the best reference unless it's clear that the train wreck wasn't your fault.

POPSMcCain aide says: "Palin's Going Rogue." This is a nice, decent thing for someone on your team to say, isn't it? Not only are these Republican neocons bad leaders, poor losers but also disloyal cowards trying to blame others for their own mistakes. After all, who picked her in the first place?

POPS11 Days Away: McCain Campaign Collapsing
Obama is still going around busting his butt to tell everybody to bust their butt harder than they've ever worked before. Smart guy. With early voting now going on in some states he and Hilary and Biden and specifically telling folks at his massive rallies: "Leave here, go to your election centers, Vote Right Now!" But it couldn't look much worse for McCain. Besides the facts and figures of his falling popularity and growing lead: lead in the national pols growing, lead in the critical 'battleground states,' growing -- besides these numbers you can see the Defeat in his face and in the faces of those who talk for him. You can hear more excuses coming out of his campaign headquarters about why it was so hard for them and they are not doing well (excuses that are as pathetic as their campaign). We hear more Republicans actually switching sides and giving Obama endorsements. (like Colin Powell.) Stunned negative media is shutting up. The idea of Obama as president sinki

POPSTech Layoffs Should Be Mild Call it the silver lining to a very dark cloud. But most tech companies grew slowly and sensibly during the recent bull market, and so are well positioned to survive the current bear.

POPSBidders won't get properties they won at auction This Utah home auction disappointed a lot of bidders. The banks say the bids are not high enough. I don't know much about the auction business but it seems to me that if putting something up for bid shows your willingness to take what you can get. Changing your mind because you didn't get what you expected just doesn't sound ethical, in my humble opinion.

POPSNobel Laureate Yunus: 'Capitalism has degenerated into a casino' these castles don't exist at all. That was the point at which the financial system collapsed." Also true during the '90s tech boom and bust with all that betting on little companies not even worth the paper their IPOs were written on. And let's not forget all the employees working like slaves for promises. Oh when will we learn?

POPSAbolish the Federal Reserve --- Ron Paul from '02 (cont.)From the Great Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the burst of the dotcom bubble last year, every economic downturn suffered by the country over the last 80 years can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with easy money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial "boom" followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-created bubble bursts. With a stable currency, American exporters will no longer be held hostage to an erratic monetary policy. Stabilizing the currency will also give Americans new incentives to save as they will no longer have to fear inflation eroding their savings. Those members concerned about increasing America's exports or the low rate of savings should be enthusiastic supporters of this legislation.

POPS$10.2 Trillion: National Debt Clock Goes Bust George Bush's legacy and the cost of war. How appropriate for the Debt Clock to run out of numbers. It's so symbolic, like the clock itself staggered at the number. The figure is absolutely outrageous and completely unjustifiable. And republicans used to be the party of limited instead of Big Government. The consequences are now all coming back. But Democrats should not gloat too much, they had plenty of support for the same spending packages and gave Bush whatever he wanted (fools). The ignorant flag-waving American public now realizes they were pushed into war under false pretenses and lies.

POPSGlobal Stock Markets Going Down. BadNews Bush Again
Bush didn't cause the real estate agents and banks to make bad and fraudulent loans -- but neither has he caused any recovery. Maybe, in fact, there is no quick fix to boom and bust speculation. But another fact is that this $700-billion does nor demands NOTHING that will directly help people with the predatory mortgages they were suckered into - nor guarantee more jobs -- nor make credit available again. It's only claim is "to inspire confidence." in the banks. It doesn't seem to be working and it's doubtful if anything a failed president, working with a failed Congress, could do with helping out a failed Wall Street. The SuperRich (the 1% of our population that now owns 20% of our wealth), the SuperRich still get all the breaks and loopholes and the Middle Class gets the screws put to them. Wall Street walks away with all their profits and all their bad debts are sold to the taxpayers -- Why didn't we buy stock in the banks instead? Or 100 other ways to do this bett
