POPSGov't. Largely Responsible For Hi Insrnce.Costs
This has several negative effects. One is that it decreases both competition and supply, both of which raise prices for consumers. This also means that states have the power to grant licenses to insurance companies, meaning that any new insurance company from its beginnings has to meet state-mandated standards. This is a huge barrier to entry, keeping newcomers out of what would otherwise be a highly competitive market and once again increasing prices for consumers. In a free market, profits are a signal telling more entrepreneurs to enter a market. More and more firms will enter the market until the profits have dropped low enough to discourage market entry. ............ Obama has said that under his current proposal, he would eliminate these state barriers.......... This completely ignores the fact that, under the necessary and proper clause, the government is only allowed to regulate those industries that it must to carry out its stated function.

POPS Property rush as billions raised to pick up bargains It may force up the price a bit, so the first wave of investors can make a profit by selling to greater fools. These kind of secondary prices collapses could be common when new markets do not materialise because of lack of demand and lack of need.

POPSApril .... You Know . Finally, ending up where we started with the car companies, I watched the press conference by the Obama-appointed Chairman of GM, Fritz Henderson claiming that GM would cover up to nine months of car payments for people who bought a GM vehicle then lost their job. . I thought that had to be an early April Fool's joke. Where would Fritz Henderson get the money to do that? I mean, that would be just about as funny as giving mortgages to people to buy houses who … . Oh. Wait a minute. You mean my tax dollars - already going to people who bought houses they couldn't afford - are now going to go to people who buy cars they can't afford? Looks like the joke's on me.

POPSSwampfoxz CHORUS Swamp Fox! Swamp Fox! Tail on his hat, Nobody knows where The Swamp Fox's at. Swamp Fox! Swamp Fox! Hiding in the glen, he runs away to fight again. I fire a gun the birds take wing. There startled cries a signal clear. My men march forth to fight the king. And leave behind there loved ones dear. CHORUS We had no lead, we had no powder. Always fought with an empty gun. Only made us shout the louder. We are men of Marion. We had no cornpone, had no honey. All we had was Continental money. Wouldn't buy nothing worth beans in the pot. Roasted ears and possum was all we go. CHORUS We had no blankets, had no bed. Had no roof above our head. We get no shelter when it rains. All we got is Yankee brains. The Redcoats fight in a foreign land. Their hearts are far across the sea. They never try to understand. We fight for home and liberty.

POPSObama Signs 'Imperfect' Spending Bill The problem with pork is that the definition is always "stuff those other guys want." Pork is never the money your guy brings to your state or district. And earmarks aren't really the problem -- all they do is allocate funding that's already been approved. It's a way to split up the money, not the way you run up the bill. Still, how many people will buy Obama's "it's not my fault" defense is an open question.

POPSNow The Empty Suit flip-flops So the Boy Wonder Empty Suit will stimulate the U.S. economy by buying foreign products.... The EU threatens to retaliate if we Buy American.... yet the EU and Japan has had protectionist policy in place for generations. Screw them. Buy American. (Do we manufacture anything anymore?)

POPSObama to water down 'Buy American' plan.... Does he capitulate at every turn??? "Under the “Buy American” clause passed by the US House of Representatives, American iron and steel must be used in construction projects that form part of the recovery plan. The US Senate wants to extend the scope of the clause before the Bill goes to the White House for approval." When the EU has the power to dictate US policies, we are truly in trouble. I have begun to look at the labels and tags, mindful of where the products I'm buying come from. Some have criticized the idea of "Nationalism" but I believe in doing what's best for my Country and my community. If we prosper, we're able to contribute to the rest of the world. Drag us down to the lowest common denominator and we're useless. This President does not believe in doing what is best for the United States...as he swore in his oath of office...but what is expedient and moves smoothly among the *World Community*.

POPSRick Warren is an insulting choice Or take marriage. At his Saddleback Church, wifely submission is official doctrine: The church website tells women to defer to their husband's "leadership" even when he's wrong on important issues, such as finances. Never mind if she's an accountant and he flunked long division, or if she wants to beef up the kids' college fund and he wants to buy shares in the Brooklyn Bridge. The godly answer is supposed to be "yes, dear." Is elevating this male chauvinist how President-elect Obama thanks women, who gave him more than half his votes? Obama to women, "Thanks for your vote, here's a kick in the teeth as your reward."

POPSBritish may ban 'happy hour' as drink deaths rise
Given that it can take 15 to 20 years for liver disease to develop, the British Liver Trust warned that the figures suggested the problem would only get worse. "We're seeing a steep increase of deaths in people in their 20s and 30s," Trust spokeswoman Imogen Shillito said. "This indicates a big problem for many years to come." National statistics show a steady rise in the number of alcohol-related deaths that typically fell heavy drinkers in their 40s and 50s who have abused alcohol for decades. From 1991 to 2006, the number of such deaths more than doubled to 8,758. Alcohol-related deaths among people aged 25 to 29 were 40 percent higher in 2006 than the year before, Shillito said, citing national statistics. Shillito said low prices for alcohol had helped encourage drinking among British youths, noting "they can buy alcohol with their pocket money." The government plans to base its new alcohol policies, including possible new programs to help people reduce consumption,

POPSUS Asks Germany To Join in Bailout
Nein, say the wise Germans. Still, the financial crisis has already reached German shores, and banks here have had to announce write-downs of nearly €40 billion ($58.5 billion). "German banks are already sufficiently involved in the calamity," says Stefan Kooths of the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin. Either way, experts estimate that half of America's bad loans were sold abroad -- and a large part of that was assumed by Germans. And now the money is gone. "There's no reason why Germany should have to bear even more burdens," says Kooths. Experts have also criticized the American rescue package for a number of other reasons. Diemo Dietrich from the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) doesn't think the plan is well-balanced: "The government is only buying bad risks and, in doing so, nationalizing the losses." Dietrich adds that taxpayers won't share in any of the profits that the government hopes the stabilized market will bring about in the long ru

POPSA signal to NATO "Russia. This is about Georgia being competitive with Russia for the European market and Georgian moves to try to enter NATO. This is Putin saying "back -off" NATO." Russia is creating problems for many of it's break-away states. Usually, as in the case with Ukraine recently, it centers on oil. And we can see that Russia is working very hard to buy and claim oil reserves all over the world, they use their resources as weapons against it's former states, and reassert it's will in the region and the world. These motivations are even more troubling when you consider that many journalists consider Russia to be a modern fascist police state.
