In Election 2008, Don't Underestimate This Voting Block
merrie
by merrie  11-4-2008    2
He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding. He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives. The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him. The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

Out pours a waterfall of GOP buzzwords ...
masbury
by masbury  10-6-2008    8
"The American people are asking of the candidates a serious question: how will you put our country back on track? Rather than provide a direct answer, the McCain campaign has exhibited a wholesale embrace of the tactic that Palin has made legend: it is attempting the change the subject to distract from the fact that it has no acceptable answer"

US Elections Awash In Clichés
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  1-9-2008    2
I continue to be shocked at how brazen the agents of the system will be in their attempt to drive citizens toward the cattle chute of ideological pablum. And until Americans shake off their political rufinol ... we can forget any improvements to the system. ---- There is simply no discussion either possible or necessary before this monster is tamed

US-American conservatives' language shapes reality
Rasmus
by Rasmus  9-15-2007    2
The Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis examines the idea that language shapes our reality. The theory is that the words we use will determine how we view the world around us. hetoricians know this. Politicians know this as well. It’s the use of this knowledge that conservatives have taken to a new level. Lenin’s quote that “a lie told often enough becomes truth” appears to have become the foundation for conservative politicking. There has been a purposeful, well-choreographed, full-on onslaught of language and terms incorporated by conservatives. he declarations of patriotism and support for family values. The claim to relate to the middle class and even “compassionate-conservative” ideas Conservatives have developed buzzwords used to support their positions and debase the opposition ...]: pre-9/11 thinking, form of a mushroom cloud, Shock and Awe, slow bleed, and cut-and-run . Even support the troops has been usurped to mean support the war.

ECHELON buzzwords
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  12-8-2006    9
How can words like "Bubba the Love Sponge", "Mary", "loin" or "fish" imply a possible threat to national security?!? If you've ever used any of the words on the list in an email or chat, supposedly chances are your email has been snooped on by the government. I see "&" and "site" are also buzzwords. Would there be anything they DIDN'T read?!? Sheesh, gimme a break!
