A Wasted Vote (Not in the Least)
sahara
by sahara  11-3-2008    1
So, why not (for once in your life, perhaps) cast a vote purely for principle! Vote for someone who is truly pro-life. Someone who would quickly secure our nation's borders, and end the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. Someone who would, on his first day in office, release Border Patrol agents Ramos and Compean and fire U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton. Someone who would immediately, upon assuming office, begin leading the charge to dismantle the Federal Reserve, overturn the 16th Amendment, expunge the IRS, and return America to sound money principles. Someone who would get the US out of the UN. Someone who would stop spending billions and trillions of dollars for foreign aid. Someone who would prosecute the Wall Street bankers who defrauded the American people out of billions of dollars. Someone who would work to repeal NAFTA, CAFTA, GATT, the WTO, and stop the NAFTA superhighway. Someone who would say a resounding "No" to the New World Order. Someone who would stop using our br

If worker's rights were better protected as they were to have been under NAFTA and CAFTA, and we would have fewer workers fleeing to US to make a living. Read and see if you agree.

NAFtA AND CAFTA
mbthorman
by mbthorman  2-14-2008
Here in Costa Rica, CAFTA is already running into major problems. The legislative body is refusing to rewrite the country's laws to comply with CAFTA requirements. The plebicite to accept CAFTA split the country practically in half. The vote was extremely close.

Congressional Democrats Support Free Trade Agreement
DizzyDezzi
by DizzyDezzi  11-17-2007
3/8 clips in my 8 clips/or more a day project... "This month, Colorado's congressional delegation voted unanimously to approve the Peru Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which would relax trade regulations with the South American country, but questions linger over why four of the state's seven House members supported the proposal after opposing a similar measure two years ago."

Costa Ricans cast votes on free trade with U.S.
ibsinc
by ibsinc  10-7-2007
The Free Trade Agreements have their pros and cons. They open new markets for US products and also benefit the signing parties, in this case Costa Rica and later Panama. Consumers in the signing partner countries are benefited because their economies are opened to a global economy and free trade system which in many cases will remove protectionist policies such as high import taxes on staple products such as rice. BUT it will force local producers to become more efficient in production methods, and remove artificial pricing of local products which build in high profits for the rich, making the rich richer. Negatively effecting the NAFTA are US subsidies on products making their products cheaper. What should accompany any Free Trade agreement is ALSO an economic trade agreement to assist negatively affected nations initially with economic subsidies to producers and in the long run an intensive training program so that affected producers can become more competitive on the world market.

CAFTA on track; but Costa Ricans overall reject it
caoilfhionn
by caoilfhionn  10-7-2007
This is part of what Clinton started in 1994; the Free Trade Area of the Americas; CAFTA is NAFTA, only with Central America. If you can imagine companies deciding that Mexican labor is too expensive, and their moving to Central American countries for labor, you've got the idea. This is all in order to set up a North American "Free Trade Area of the Americas" so we can join together with the EU for one world government. Gone will be our constitution and founding documents...we are already adopting international law in our courts, anyway.

This is what happens when . . .
mbthorman
by mbthorman  9-26-2007
This is what happens when several countries make a treaty that is poorly worded or doesn't take into account possible future developments. I am predicting that Costa Rica will get the shaft if the Ticos vote for inclusion in CAFTA. They will have to serve two masters - the CAFTA and their own constitution.
