The ash would block the sunlight, killing plant life and all who feed upon it. Air quality would be unsafe, earthquakes would be triggered, to say nothing of the fires and tsunamis. Yellowstone is one of those volcanoes.

(This is also causing the southwest part of the Yellowstone plateau, under the hotspot, to slide downhill at a rate of one-sixth of an inch each year.).
