POPSWho's Getting Rich Off Prohibition? Just Look Who Opposes CA's Prop. 5 Making money as the only motivation for people doing anything is NOT a good system, there has to be much more to life than just money!!! Helping people gets help in return and makes people helpful too and more willing to work together. And who wants drug addicts in prison where drugs are also available instead of being out on the streets getting help to drop the habit? The drug peddlars should be in prison, not the addicts.

POPSPraying For Palin "Perhaps there are some here who also sense that what's being lost is more than just a single election. The fact that the GOP ticket is trailing behind despite the addition of Palin clearly proves that while conservative Christians may be a formidable force in American politics, they can't elect a president by themselves. The right-wing evangelicals won in previous years because they joined a Republican coalition that also included hawkish neocons, working-class "Reagan Democrats," libertarians, and old-fashioned fiscal conservatives. And some of those groups have clearly had enough. They are departing the flock in disgust with the Republican Party, which could leave the GOP ever more dependent on the Christian right. "

POPSAlso Mostly Awesome Job satisfaction is nice. Being positive and ethical is nice, too. However, despite common praise for my writing, I can't stand writing. Public relations would deal too much with idiots, entertainment (see PR), hotel/recreation might be decent, IT has a dorky reputation, and I'm a big fan of the military but it's not for me. Oh well, writing's not that bad.

POPSObama Spokesman, Ohio Voter Registrations Tactics "OK" He argued that neither Obama's staff nor McCain's workers had broken Ohio law by registering there. But the state's law allows people who plan to live in Ohio permanently to register to vote no sooner than 30 days after moving there. Temporary residents aren't supposed to register, even if they live there for more than 30 days. Palestra.net, a student journalist-run affiliate of Fox News, which is owned by The Post's parent firm, News Corp., found that Obama campaign worker Jacob Smith, a Florida native, moved in with a host family in Howard, Ohio, on Sept. 28 or Sept. 29 - and registered and voted on Oct. 1. Baker said he wouldn't comment on individual cases. McCain's campaign didn't respond to a request for comment. But Don Schutte, Smith's host, said he was "kind of dismayed" after learning his guest had registered as a resident of his home.

POPSIs There A Skeleton In John McCain's POW closet? Excerpted From The Rolling Stone Magazine: In its broad strokes, McCain's life story is oddly similar to that of the current occupant of the White House. John Sidney McCain III and George Walker Bush both represent the third generation of American dynasties. Both were born into positions of privilege against which they rebelled into mediocrity. Both developed an uncanny social intelligence that allowed them to skate by with a minimum of mental exertion. Both struggled with booze and loutish behavior. At each step, with the aid of their fathers' powerful friends, both failed upward. And both shed their skins as Episcopalian members of the Washington elite to build political careers as self-styled, ranch-inhabiting Westerners who pray to Jesus in their wives' evangelical churches. POPSMcCain Fails to Understand, Sneeringly Misrepresents Sky Theater As "Overhead Projector" Andrey Kravtsov continues: "I find it appalling that Sen. McCain would call a science education tool for public (largely children) for a historic planetarium with millions of visitors a year a wasteful earmark. The planetarium's focus, as stated on their website (http://adlerplanetarium.org) is "on inspiring young people, particularly women and minorities, to pursue careers in science." Is an investment in such public facility at the time when US competitiveness in math and sciences is a constant source of alarm a waste?" No, it is not a waste. Senator McCain's failure to understand and/or appreciate the importance of science education is indeed appalling, as is his sneering, sniveling misrepresentation of this equipment as an unnecessary, overpriced "overhead projector".
