POPSThe Choice, Divorce or Murder? To this type of man, divorce is not an option. He will murder before he gives up any control, any money, and anything of his own. Mothers vanish every day, some we hear about and some we don't. Someone is getting away with murder in this country right now and there is no remorse, no empathy, no mourning, no signs whatsoever of an emotional loss. Most importantly, there are children who have questions, who have lost a mother, and will never see her again, she has vanished.

POPSNo, Lockheed Martin is Not a Small Business Washington Post front page story goes in depth on a persistent problem: the federal government's tendency to count contracts handed to big corporations as small business set asides. Pair this story together with a profile we did earlier this year on tech distributor World Wide Technology. http://www.forbes.com/businessinthebeltway/2008/03/06/dell-cisco-wwt-biz-wash-cz_atg_0306beltway.html A relatively large company now, WWT initially survived on winning set asides from the Small Business Administration.

POPSMcCain's Better Half, Number Two
Cindy McCain, played a role in the Keating Five S&L scandal, and just as her husband was rehabilitating his reputation, she was caught stealing drugs from her nonprofit organization to feed her addiction to painkillers. She has a fortune that sets the McCain's apart from most other Americans, a problem in a presidential race that hinges on economic anxieties. She can be imprecise: she has repeatedly called herself an only child, for instance, even though she has two half-siblings. Those close to her say she aspires to be like another blonde, glamorous figure married to an older man: "Diana, the Princess of Wales" . Carol McCain, (1st Mrs) worked in the Reagan White House as an event planner. She had stood by her husband during his captivity in N. Vietnam, never passing word of her debilitating car accident, (more about her... http://www.snopes.com/politics/mccain/carol.asp ) a few years after their reunion, McCain told her, he was leaving her for a younger, richer woman.

POPS2 Nuns Listed as Terrorists by Baltimore Cops Who would have thought that efforts to legitimately protect ourselves result in return of enemies lists and labeling anyone who you disagree with as a "red and a commie", oops, I mean "terrorist. Guess that's what made and still does make the Bill of Rights an important part of US Democracy.

POPSIs The Film 'An American Carol' Being Sabotaged At The Box Office? Obviously, this type of "error" sometimes requires collusion between employees--a way of marking the ticket so that you are sent to the correct theater, even though you've been sold the wrong ticket. Before anyone jumps to conclusions and chalks this up to politics, the fact is this is a fairly rare but not unheard of occurrence. There have been payola scandals in the past and it usually has more to do with either juicing the numbers for a big budget release or, more prosaically, lazy or incompetent ticket sellers at the theaters. Would I put it past Hollywood to collude with theater owners to depress sales of AAC? No, but in this case I think it best to use Occam's Razor - everything being equal, the simplest and least complicated answer is probably the right one. “Please email us a picture of your ticket stub to: fraud@americancarol.com

POPSYoung Single Missing Mother To further put pressure on the "someone" who must know what happened to Melanie Metheny, CUE Center from Wilmington, NC has erected a billboard with Melanie's information on it in hopes of finding a resolution to this case for her family. After erecting a billboard in Whiteville, NC, within 2 weeks there was a break in the case of Carol Dowless, someone came forward, and she was found after 3 years. We hope that the same answers can come for the Metheny family and that 3 children will have answers. http://www.findmelanie.com/ http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/metheny_melanie.html http://missingpiecesshow.homestead.com/MissingPiecesEpisode47Archive.html http://wowktv.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=12553 http://www.ncmissingpersons.org/CUE Center

POPS An American Triumph This film is thoughtcrime. By rights, it should not exist, and a decade ago could never have been made. Yet it keeps the laughs rolling while enlisting some of the industry’s biggest talents to expose every pseudo-intellectual pillar of Hollywood wisdom about the War on Terror – Samizdat with a smile. It should be celebrated on those grounds alone. Cast (in credits order) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1190617/fullcredits#cast

POPSChristmas Songs and Carols It’s getting close to December and you can’t deny that Christmas is just around the corner. The breeze is getting colder and slowly filled with familiar Christmas melodies. Your favorite radio station is playing ‘Silver Bells,’ the mall you frequent with plays a disco version of ‘Jingle Bells,’ the bakeshop and even your bus ride home are playing a variety of Christmas carols. Now you can’t stop yourself from humming some good old Christmas songs and sometimes they just keep on playing in your mind for the rest of the day. Ooops ‘last-song’ syndrome!

POPS"Caging" Voters
(cont.)In addition, Michigan law allows people vote at their old precinct if they lost their home within sixty days of the election. Bauer told the Wall Street Journal that the Michigan suit against the Republicans was meant to send a message to Democrats around the country to be on guard against voter-supression tactics. "This can't be just an isolated event," he said. Republicans use these tactics "where they expect the vote to go to the other side. They're not caging in Beverly Hills. By filing the suit, we are assuring people they can be allowed to vote." Carol Guzman, director of ACORN's Financial Justice Center, said foreclosure lists would be unreliable indicators of who had been forced to leave their homes. Because state law allows a redemption period of up to a year after a foreclosed home has been sold, "you could still legitimately and legally be in your home and be challenged," she told the Lansing State Journal. But she believed that the GOP was trying to intimidate

POPS"Your honour, we now have the fashion police." Good move by the judge. Though I personally don't like such a fashion, but what would different between America and Iran if we were to institute such measures? And do I see "town voters" backed this petition? Whoa.
