POPSUrban Myths about Viruses... What?!? Doesn't anyone read scientific journals/reporting any more. Viruses wrap up in fats to ride out cold weather outside or at high altitude. They catch a ride on a water molecule (whether water or ice). They end up on your coat, head, hands, mouth, eyes, etc. Once the temperature increases, they 'thaw' out and become 'active'. Learn more by looking at my clip about how the flu can make you fat. Enjoy! Certainly, trading viruses with your friends, family, and colleagues is common. Additionally, you are more likely to catch what other people have if you breathing the same air. However, most viral infections start as an invasion from outside the body.

POPSGood hygiene can stop staph infections. "Soap and water is the cheapest intervention we have." It generally takes contact to spread the staph germ outside hospitals. It can cause abscesses and boils, but the most dangerous symptom can be life threatening blood infections. 1 in 3 people carry a treatable staph aureus- or Golden Staph, but one million carry the MRSA strain. MRSA has the ability to live on unwashed surfaces and can 'catch a ride' on unwashed hands.

POPSTaking preschoolers on predator patrol This is a great idea, I just hope it works. They really need to find a way to protect preteens & early teens though, they are really the most at risk. They often have "freedoms" that younger kids do not such as traveling to friends homes down the street, to & from school, some are even left home alone as early at 11 years old... They also are often left alone at computers, etc. Not sure how you educate kids at that age...

POPSTongue-o-vision "The same system can be used to give blind people a coarse image of the outside world, without the need for eye implants." Fascinating.
