Almost casually stated in Manila is an annual warning on the street that crimes of opportunity, thefts and other untoward acts will be on the rise as some look to "earn" their Christmas tidings in illicit ways. On All Saints Day, many will reconnect with their family lineage and pay respects in a way that is beautiful. For me, All Souls Day is more meaningful and I will light 5 candles this year to honor 3 departed Lola's, 1 Lola and my late sister, Carol Ann. I do not infer that any particular faith or holiday has more meaning than another or wish to state that the living are less important than the dead, but I find the POW/MIA & All Souls Day a great way to reconnect with who I am and who I owe much to.
