POPSWhy conservatism's traditionalists are so mean First paragraph is from David Brooks, who laments that traditionalists may well take over the GOP; balance is for Ed Kilgore, who observes that they have come to believe their own militant mythology, and have become impervious to contrasting information. Both agree that this - while ugly - could seal the fate of the GOP.

POPSFuck the FCC Gotta love those arbitrary enforcement of 'morality'. It's OK to say DUNG, MERDE or any other word that means 'SHIT'. But oh no, we can't actually use the word 'SHIT'. That's bad.

POPSAttention activists: Permission to feel good More: And so those who would feel accomplishment and revel in their moment of triumph censor themselves. They become defensive. They seek to preempt. How many people included the phrase (or an equivalent) "I know how much more we have to do, but I'm so happy now!" As if rejoicing now is somehow inappropriate, that we must seek pardon and permission to celebrate any milestone. And it works. The joy is diminished. The reward less. The labor made greater. And, over time, we lose our capacity for joy and become worldly and cynical and join the chorus to silence those who can still dare to take undiluted and unmitigated pleasure in their achievements.

POPSBiden Promises an International Incident to Test Obama. . . . . . if He's Elected, and Also Promises Obama Will Screw It Up! "I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate," Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. "And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

POPSFree Nationwide Wi-Fi Network To Censor Political Websites Blogs, social networks, alternative news to be filtered out I wonder if Clipmarks will be among them? If they want to block "alternative political websites, that go against the corporate establishment", blogs, alternative news and social networks, then half the internet will be banned! *LOL* Damn, if this wasn't so ridiculously fascist, it would be funny.

POPSBluehost How-To : What is ‘profanity’ My account was disabled for “adult content and profanity”. Since the main attraction is a forum, I’m just going to implement a censor for whatever words are “not allowed”. The problem is I don’t know how far to go with the censor. So I’m wondering if there is a list somewhere so I know which words to censor in order to turn my account back on.

POPSIntolerance on the Left
If book banning is such a life-and-death issue to these celebrity foot soldiers for free speech, where were they four years ago when John Kerry and his rabid minions were pressuring Regnery Publishing to withdraw Unfit for Command from bookstores? Where were they when members of the Borders Books Employee Union were openly advocating sabotaging book sales? A message on the union’s members-only website urged: You guys don’t actually HAVE to sell the thing! Just “carelessly” hide the boxes, “accidentally” drop them off pallets, “forget” to stock the ones you have, and then suggest a nice Al Franken or Michael Moore book as a substitute . . . I don’t care if these Neandertals (sic) in fancy suits get mad at me, they aren’t regular customers anyway. Other than “Left Behind” books, they don’t read. Anything you can do to make them feel unwelcome is only fair. They are the people pushing retailers to cut costs, don’t forget. And they would censor your speech, your books,

POPSRare Images of the War The US military has done an excellent job of censoring images like these. Perhaps if they hadn't been so skilled at denying free speech, support for the war in Iraq would have declined sooner rather than later. By the way, you are allowed to react to these images with your emotions. That's what makes you fully human. Don't let anyone tell you that you should view them solely from the cold aspect of reason. Such people are only censors of a different sort. They would censor your feelings.

POPSPlan to Kill Current Internet by 2012, Enter Internet 2 It's documented, it's true, free and open internet will be killed. This is consistent with what Lieberman has been calling for on a small and temporary scale to censor. This will transform the open internet into the MSM internet, controlling the medium entirely. It is all about CONTROL on a global scale in an Orwellian mode of Newspeak.

POPSLieberman Pushing Internet Censorship; Bill in Congress NY Times editorial opposing his attempt to censor the internet. Tell your Senators to oppose this pending legislation , which is a ruse for censorship. Pardon me, but if "Al Qaeda" and "bin Laden" post videos on the internet at radical sites (per neocon propaganda fronts like SITE, and reported by ABC News), why can they not find them? (Those sites are not on YouTube or easily obtained). Answer: Because then there would be no propaganda to support the "war on terrorism" and "homeland security". All of this comes against the backdrop of a troubling Congressional antiterrorism bill that also focuses on the Internet. The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act, which passed the House last year by a 404-to-6 vote, would establish a commission to study the terrorist threat and propose legislation. The bill, which the Senate has not acted on, has a finding that the Internet p
