Heartening tale of a rescued baboon
michellezm
by michellezm  10-24-2008
“And their response was ‘can you take us to him?’ We immediately hiked back into the area with members from the 4X4 Club, S.P.C.A. and C.R.O.W. and removed the baboon from his prison. He was taken to C.R.O.W. and when he woke from his drugs we administered he must have thought he was in heaven! The first thing he saw was a huge bowl of fresh vegetables and fruit which he took great pleasure in devouring.” The baboon was named Drake, because he had come from the Drakensberg. And over the next few months at C.R.O.W, Drake regained his strength. “When he got his food he would eat everything. He literally - he was starved. He was a sack of bones when we picked him up and normally they weigh roughly about 50 kilos - a big grown male - and he weighed less than 20 kilos. He was literally a sack of bones when we picked him up, so his meals at C.R.O.W — he used to like them, ja!” Soon, plans were made to return Drake to the wild. (Rest of the story on the clip)

How Women Got To Vote & Maxine 4 Pres 08
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  8-15-2008
A friend of mine, emailed me this story on how women got the right to vote. It's hard to believe that it really wasn't that long ago when women were denied their civil rights and could not vote. The short story is based on the HBO documentary entitled "Iron Jawed Angels." A chilling tale about the suffragists who braved all odds to see that all Americans have the right to vote. I put together a funny youtube video starring the Hallmark darling Maxine... Even found a video on the Hallmark site called Maxine for President to add a bit of an uplift to the sad story written by an unknown writer . Maxine for President? Why not? If only she were real, she'd make a better president than some of the one's who have held this high office in modern times. Here is the website http://www.thethinkingblue.com/MAXINE08.html And here it is on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vf_o1WnjLFM Remember to vote, a lot of people suffered and died to give us this precious right.

Plato's Cave - "Is that what we see the reality?"
einbar
by einbar  7-28-2008    2
Socrates: Each of you, when his turn comes, must go down to the general underground abode, and get the habit of seeing in the dark. When you have acquired the habit, you will see ten thousand times better than the inhabitants of the den, and you will know what the several images are, and what they represent, because you have seen the beautiful and just and good in their truth. And thus our State which is also yours will be a reality, and not a dream only, and will be administered in a spirit unlike that of other States, in which men fight with one another about shadows only and are distracted in the struggle for power, which in their eyes is a great good. Whereas the truth is that the State in which the rulers are most reluctant to govern is always the best and most quietly governed, and the State in which they are most eager, the worst.... When a person starts on the discovery of the absolute by the light of reason only, and without any assistance of sense, and perseveres until by

Autistic boy banned from church
Eaglewings
by Eaglewings  7-2-2008
Mk 5:1 (GW) They arrived in the territory of the Gerasenes on the other side of the Sea of Galilee. 2 As Jesus stepped out of the boat, a man came out of the tombs and met him. The man was controlled by an evil spirit 3 and lived among the tombs. No one could restrain him any longer, not even with a chain. 4 He had often been chained hand and foot. However, he snapped the chains off his hands and broke the chains from his feet. No one could control him. Mark 5:1-4 (GW) Mk 5:15 (GW) They came to Jesus and saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons. The man was sitting there dressed and in his right mind. A church that one time practiced exorcism now can not deal with an autistic boy. When the church house looses its power to save those afflicted then it has become worthless only to be turned into a social club. Only the best dressed and socially acceptable may enter.

The Ethics of Israel: Child Prisoners Tortured
RaiseClip

I mean folks, how low can a society go? In the entire world, there is nothing lower than Israel and its joined-at-the-hip guard dog, the USA. You simply cannot go much lower than this for an entity that calls itself a nation. Nor do Israel or its Zionist supporters hang their heads in shame because they simply have no shame whatsoever. In fact, they are proud of their hideous record.

masbury

Held for 6.5 years, tortured, no charges or trial, now seriously ill. Arrested while traveling thru Pakistan to an assignment for Al Jazeera. "I'm very sad because of the condition of our brothers who remain." Flown home in chains, faces no charges there. "True peace," he says, "does not come through military force ... Justice comes from lifting oppression ..." Unbelievable. Outrageous. Who will be called to account for this crime?
