POPSNPO | Nobel Prize turns Obama into major philanthropist
The official report came yesterday regarding the decision of President Barack Obama about his decision to give away all of the $1.4 million in Nobel Prize money he received from that prestigious honor. Given the controversy behind the story of his notoriety about winning the Nobel Prize, this charitable result of the honor may be the best remedy for the PR flap over the issue. According to this report: Republicans contended that Mr. Obama had won more for his star power and oratorical skills than for his actual achievements, and even some Democrats privately questioned whether he deserved the award. Mr. Obama, himself, maintained that he did “not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize.” ___ SOURCE | http://tiny.cc/altasource152 ___ SEARCH | http://tiny.cc/altasearch193 ___ NPO | AFFINITIES PHILANTHROPY | My iWEB Blogs | http://tiny.cc/altacities172 ___ ALTACITIES | http://altacities.com |

POPSMy Plan for a Freedom President By Ron Paul We would want to give individuals who have come to rely on the state time to prepare for the day when responsibility for providing aide is returned to those organizations best able to administer compassionate and effective help – churches and private charities. Now, this need for a transition period does not apply to all types of welfare. For example, I would have no problem defunding corporate welfare programs, such as the Export-Import Bank or the TARP bank bailouts, right away. I find it difficult to muster much sympathy for the CEO’s of Lockheed Martin and Goldman Sachs. No matter what the president wants to do, most major changes in government programs would require legislation to be passed by Congress. Obviously, the election of a constitutionalist president would signal that our ideas had been accepted by a majority of the American public and would probably lead to the election of several pro-freedom congressmen and senators.

POPSChallening Myths and Perceptions ... ... was the title of a training I delivered recently for a range of charities in East London who are concerned about the effects of the British National Party on the local community. I am highly delighted with the feedback, so I thought I'd share it with you. Go well!

POPSGreen activists are losing their fire - Consumed by need for money People have less money to give to charities which means charities are even more desperate for the stuff. Charity used to mean people actually doing things for each other and for nature locally. The requirement is time, not money. Focusing on centralised organisations, whether government or charities, is both a waste of time and money. If people put their time and money into real direct action -- which is not protest -- but is doing something like planting trees or taking a hot meal to a cold pensioner. If people just did that all over the world, then we might get somewhere.

POPSThe Power of Education We need to reflect on those things that Americans take for granted. The roll of education is enormous in the progress of society. This article on Yemen has a much more interesting lesson for us, and that is that we should take very serious the decline in education and the possible impact of those who feel that being educated is elitism.

POPSFinding Fifty Ways To Tweet There are plenty of hobbies, interests, passions, activities, and chores that help fill our day. Twitter asks ... What are you doing right now? And we answer! A massive wave of consumers have been using Twitter since 2006 to update friends and family about the daily, sometimes mundane, occurances of life. Twitter was helpful to the people of Iran in 2009 when they needed to get messages to the outside world when their own networks were being blocked. Twitter has helped raise money for political campaigns, charities, and most recently with the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort. It should be no suprise then, that twitter has also helped many large and small business people connect with customers in a very new and engaging way. But how can a business owner really make themost of Twitter? For that matter - how can you really make the most of all social media networks... http://blog.pooririshman.com/marketing/finding-fifty-ways-to-tweet

POPSNPO | Obama budget: Higher taxes on wealthy, less revenue for charity?
“It’s frankly surprising to see this proposal come back this year, it was very controversial last year,” said Tom Riley, vice president for communications at the Philanthropy Roundtable. “This of all times isn’t the time to take actions that would discourage charitable giving. The need for non-profits hasn’t been higher for a generation.” Roberton Williams, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center said the rule change would make it about 10 percent more expensive for individuals affected to donate to charity. He estimated that would correspond to a $10 billion drop in donations out of the $300 billion Americans give annually. “From the perspective of charities, they’re in a tough time right anyway,” Williams said. “Some charities have been seeing a drop-off in donations and charities themselves that have endowments are seeing a drop-off in return from investments. It’s a double whammy.” ___ SOURCE | http://dailycaller.twi.bz/a ___ SEARCH | http://go

POPSNon-Believers Giving Aid: a religion-free way to help disaster victims 1. 100% of your donation will be go to these charities: not even the PayPal fees will be deducted from your donation, since Richard will personally donate a sum to cover the cost of these (capped at $10,000). This means that more of your money will reach the people in need. 2. When donating via Non-Believers Giving Aid, you are helping to counter the scandalous myth that only the religious care about their fellow-humans. It goes without saying that your donations will only be passed on to aid organizations that do not have religious affiliations. In the case of Haiti, the two organizations we have chosen are: * Doctors Without Borders (Médecins sans Frontières) * International Red Cross

POPSEvery Generation Entertains a Liar, For a Time
I know something the liberals in this country won't readily admit but betray by their very avaricious political practices: people are greedy. Most people think first of themselves and their families. If a bit is left over, they will give to charities and maybe volunteer at a soup kitchen during the holidays. But by and large, they are adamantly opposed to a wholesale redistribution of wealth on the basis of giving some sort of payback to the unlucky, uneducated or worse, the lazy. And it galls them even more to hear their Government say that hard work gives the successful an unfair advantage. Only a fool or other 'morally challenged' person would believe in legislating fairness or rewarding sloth. Enter the 'Equality God', who speaks of all enfranchised citizens as being of one mind and resisters as unpatriotic. President Obama is like the Judas goat who leads the unsuspecting sheep down the ramp to slaughter while wearing the mask of a being at peace with himself.
