POPSBusiness Cool Toward McCain's Health Coverage Plan The McCain proposal is designed to relieve employers of the responsibility of providing employer-sponsored plans, both by eliminating the tax benefit for the employees and by offering individuals tax credits for purchasing plans in the individual market.

POPSTodd and Sarah Palin unchallenged in Fox interviews more: "Van Susteren made that strategy even more apparent during her embarrassing interview with Palin's husband, in which she seemed to morph into a cheerleader. Go Wasilla High Warriors! Go Todd!" "Todd, don't you know, helped build his own home! Flies his own float plane! Fishes for sockeye! Drives his snow machine 112 miles an hour! Palin somehow maintained his composure and dignity in the face of this frenetic new fan. At one point, perhaps trying to gently guide his interviewer toward a substantive question, he noted that he had worked to improve Alaska's vocational training programs. But Van Susteren, determined to treat her subject as Klondike Jack, ignored that segue into actual public policy. She sighed about the spectacular view from Todd's doorstep lake. "They love you here! They love you here!" Van Susteren fairly squealed, as the First Dude smiled sheepishly. "So that must be fun for you!""

POPSHow to Honor the U.S. Flag Since republicans have made flag politics a cornerstone of their campaigns (instead of trying to solve problems that face average Americans everyday), you would think the leader of the conservatives and republicans wouldn't keep disrespecting the flag as he does here and on opening night of the olympics. However, I do think this symbolizes something very profound. America has gone backward under Bush and the republican presidency. Sheesh, what a moron. Can we be done with the republicans already?

POPSTape Recording Reveals Vile Rants Of British Mullah Now Choudary —who once called for the Pope to be executed and described the September 11 hijackers as "magnificent martyrs" — could face arrest under anti-terror laws for his evil ranting on the tape, which was passed to the News of the World. Terrorism expert and author Neil Doyle said: "There is no doubt whatever this a rallying cry to would-be British terrorists. "And this is the evidence from his own mouth. There's no doubt that the message he's preaching will eventually convince some impressionable people they should start planning 7/7-type atrocities. "He's certainly becoming the most high-profile cheerleader for al-Qaeda in the UK." When we spoke to Choudary he refused to discuss our recording but admitted he WAS on a recruitment drive. He ranted: "I would like to recruit enough to turn the whole country into an Islamic state within a month...by tomorrow. "You can put that down. I'm trying to recruit 5,000 a week."

POPSThe drum beat of idiocy... Capt Fogg nails it again: patriotism trumps any type of reason in our (right wing) politics... Will anyone actually listen to what the candidates has to say on the issues? Or is it all decided based on imagery...

POPSNot All Democrats Want To Ride Obama's Coattails historically Republican House seat, "hasn't had time to be concerned with presidential politics" and won't be going to the Democratic convention, his spokesman said. But there may be more than busy schedules involved in some Democrats' reluctance to be associated with Sen. Obama. eing an Obama cheerleader may not be an asset," Mr. Gonzales said. In Georgia, Democrat Jim Marshall represents a solidly Republican rural district and typically neither endorses his party's candidate nor attends its conventions. Sen. Obama's coattails could be helpful to challenger Jim Himes in the Democratic-leaning Greenwich, Conn., district represented by Christopher Shays, a Republican. Political oddsmakers call the race a toss-up. Among the most vulnerable are 26 freshman Democrats and one freshman Republican. A few of those Democrats facing tough races already have signaled their ambivalence toward Sen. Obama, the Democratic candidate.

POPSThe 4 People Every Business Owner Needs I like this article because, as an entrepreneur, I'm on the roller coaster of small business ownership all the time. Having people to level out your highs and lows emotionally and tactically is invaluable and almost critical to success.

POPSFOX forced to apologise for THIRD TIME in TWO Weeks The apology comes just over a week after one of Fox's anchormen expressed regret for a comment on the night that Obama won the Democratic nomination. Obama, in a show of affection, lightly touched his fist against Michelle's and the anchorwoman referred to it as a "terrorist fist jab". Previously, a Fox contributor Liz Trotta had to apologise after making a joke about Obama being assassinated. The trio of apologies is embarrassing for Fox. Murdoch last month praised Obama but stopped short of endorsing him, though his New York Post came out for Obama in January.

POPSWm. Rivers Pitt asks "Why?"
I don't do anniversaries. It requires keeping track of things, and I don't do that very well. Needless to say, I was unprepared for this momentous occasion, five years into a war that was more theater than national security exercise from the first. Pitt reduces the issues to the essentials in a way that most people who have retained their sanity throughout these five years of wretchedly corrupt, irresponsible and incompetent leadership can understand. At this point, even the serious disagreements boil down to issues of motivation. But motivation for acts of felonious carnage, constitutional usurpation and the willful perversion of the arms of justice and national security into services dedicated to the preservation of a unitary executive by "whatever means" matters little. The acts themselves and their consequences insist on resolution in favor of those oppressed, displaced, killed, maimed and exploited - and serve to utterly discredit any motive and any cheerleader for Bush.

POPSIraq Winter Soldier Hearings: Victory for Independent Media
The four days of vets’ testimony revealed the struggle these young Americans are waging to regain their humanity and morality after having been transformed into callous war-fighters who largely dehumanized Iraqis as a people - not just “the enemy” or combatants. An objective observer hearing the testimony would have good reason to wonder if U.S. troops - given the often gratuitous and racist brutality, and the mistreatment of women, children and the elderly — can ever be a solution in Iraq. On panel after panel, the veterans offered heartfelt “apologies to the Iraqi people” for what our country has done to their country. I saw a vet rip up the commendation he’d received from Gen. David Petraeus, denouncing the general as a cheerleader who put his own ambitions above his duty to the troops and to the truth. Many vets called for rapid withdrawal from Iraq and criticized Democratic leaders for prolonging and funding the endless occupation. Ex-Marine Jon Turner, who served two tours

POPSIraqi Feel-Good Stories Prove Elusive Garrett Therolf, LAT reporter, talks about his efforts to report on good news in Iraq when he was there earlier this year. The military prevented Therolf from following-up on the army's efforts to establish a local bank branch in a Sunni Arab neighborhood. The neighborhood was too dangerous for him to enter without military guard. Therolf also pursued a story about a restaurant in Baghdad started by some Chinese nationals. They declined to be interviewed because they were scared, and they may even go back to China because of the danger. For those of you who criticize the media for focusing on the negative in Iraq, this is something you should consider.

POPSInstead Watch My Top Picks Ok, I'm not a lesbian, but I'm not exactly heterosexual either. So watch my top picks in this particular genre because I'm right half the time :D 1. Fried Green Tomatoes Unfortunately the movie version has been "sanitized" to attract the heterosexual audience. Even though it fills my emotional cache I still wish they would have had the guts to lift it above that level, but I'm a sucker for the southern accent. 2. Aimee and Jaguar This movie is huge in it's structure and huge in it's emotion. AND it's based on a true story. It's great love in times that make love seem impossible. 3. Loving Annabelle. OK, so it's a sexy, cheesy, student/teacher, kinda disturbing love affair with Simone stuck in a loveless affair with a man (of course). I'd watch it again just for the music though. 4. But I'm a Cheerleader. This boot camp is so absurd that it's funny. And the moral of this review is that I cannot come up with 5 good lesbian movies. What a shame.

POPSA letter from Grandma
I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a "sunny beach"... I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant, he said that it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I've never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign back. My grandson burst out laughing ... he was enjoying this religious experience, too! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, I waved to all my sisters and brothers grinning, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light cha
