POPSTemple of Artemis to be rebuilt continues: To find the best sculptures to adorn the restored temple, a lottery will be held to form a selection committee chosen from representatives of 196 U.N. member countries. Each selected representative will then select two sculptors from the nation they represent. The selected sculptors will then take part in workshops run by the Artemis Culture, Arts and Education Foundation. The sculptors will first begin work on the cubic bases for the columns, with sculptures to be inspired by either of two sayings attributed to Heracleitos of Ephesus: “War is the father of everything” and “Everything flows and nothing abides.”

POPSWorking hard to be genius! "These are stories about people who were given a special opportunity to work really hard and seized it, and who happened to come of age at a time when that extraordinary effort was rewarded by the rest of society." Very interesting. there is a tendency to prefer stories of sudden success, hidden fate, and so on Vs. the ones that mention the hard work it takes to be a genius. i think it is related to responsibility. whereas in the first it seems like it is 'out of my control' so i, the human involved, just have to accept and agree to the circumstances. The latter stresses the point that one parameter that is involved has a lot to do with what one is doing and how much he is willing to prioritize his resources toward a direction...

POPSGermany’s Green Party Elects First Ethnic Turk as Leader With a conservative party’s choice of Angela Merkel to run as chancellor in 2005 — a successful gambit — and now an ethnic Turk at the helm of an influential party, it appears that German society is slowly breaking with the past, when women were inconspicuous and immigrants’ voices were seldom heard.

POPSPriest: No Communion for Obama Supporters This is one priest who knows evil when he sees it. In all the debates "moderated" by biased liberal newspeople, was there one question on abortion? Nope. Was there one question on gun control? Nope. McCain for the old liberal rope a dope.

POPSObama, Emanuel and Israel So it may well be salutary not to waste eight more days (let alone eight more years) playing along and playing the fool while more Palestinian lands are confiscated and more Jewish colonies and Jews-only bypass roads are built on them, clinging to the delusion that the charming Mr. Obama, admirable though he may be in so many other respects, will eventually (if only in a second term, when he no longer has to worry about reelection) see the light and do the right thing.

POPS Obama vs. Pelosi Barack Obama obviously has thought carefully about mistakes made by previous Democratic presidential winners who wrongly believed a Congress controlled by their own party would help make them a success. That may be one reason why Mr. Obama has chosen Rahm Emanuel, a respected member of the Congressional leadership, to become his new White House Chief of Staff. Mr. Emanuel has a reputation as a tough partisan, but he has also exhibited impatience with left-wing members of his party who have overly ambitious ideological agendas. To the extent Mr. Obama becomes a successful president, it will be because he remains his own man and trusts the brilliant political instincts that have gotten him this far, this fast.

POPSPredestination, or Free Will? This is a concept of a very different God, one who suffers with the world and doesnt know the future in absolute detail. It is scary too. If God is not omnipotent there seems to be the possibility that evil can gain supremacy.

POPSWhen is a human a human? "Try this thought experiment: you’re walking down the street, and you see a building on fire. You enter it to help anyone out, and see it’s a lab. On one side is a five-year-old boy, and the other is a petri dish clearly labeled as having a dozen fertilized eggs in it. You only have time to rescue the boy or the eggs. What do you do? I would argue that it would be, ironically, an inhuman act to rescue the dish. Yet, according to the law if Prop 48 passes, you would have just chosen to let 12 human beings die to save one."

POPSAunt made illegal contributions to Obama's campaign Acorn, this... many interesting words seem to be flowing next to the 'chosen one' - illegal, immoral, greedy, ignorant (since he didn't know about any of these events, people etc.) and that's just 4... or is it 3 (I'll have to check with Biden on this one).

However, it is a burden that we must insist you carry. So, please, read quickly, care for the physical condition of the paper and pass it on to your next chosen reader.”

POPSPillar of Unbelief - Marx Monism: the idea that everything is one and that common sense's distinction between matter and spirit is illusory. Pantheism: the notion that the distinction between Creator and creature, the distinctively Jewish idea, is false. For Hegel, the world is made into an aspect of God (Hegel was a pantheist); for Marx, God is reduced to the world (Marx was an atheist). Historicism: the idea that everything changes, even truth; that there is nothing above history to judge it; and that therefore what is true in one era becomes false in another, or vice versa. Dialectic: the idea that history moves only by conflicts between opposing forces, a "thesis" vs. an "antithesis" evolving a "higher synthesis." Necessitarianism, or fatalism: the idea that the dialectic and its outcome are inevitable and necessary, not free. Statism: the idea that since there is no eternal, trans-historical truth or law, the state is supreme and uncriticizable. Militarism: (read article)

POPSMichelle Obama Demands Racial Loyalty From African Press Intl.
. . . in the spotlight. How sad for him to go out like this. We know he respects and admires John McCain. We know, from campaign finance records, that Powell contributed the max individual contribution allowed to McCain, not to Obama as the race progressed. But, as soon as he said it wasn't about race, he blew his game. Michelle Obama, the Closer, was earlier in the campaign in charge of setting the talking points of the day on the trail. She told audiences she has never been proud of her country until her husband was doing well in this race, that America is a mean country, and that she's just a regular working mom. API is "an international news agency headquartered in Norway with 19 corespondents in North, East, West and South Africa as well as in the United Kingdom. It is widely respected for its political independence and even handedness." That description from Rudi Stettner. http://www.rudistettner.com/2008/10/michelle-obama-invokes-racial-loyalty.html

POPS..."He saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? Analogously to the parable part quoted in Matthew 22:12, our U.S. Constitution has "proof of membership"..or "proof of invitation" requirements for the position of Presidency of the United States and Barry Soetoro a.k.a. Barry Hussein Obama a.k.a. Barak Hussein Obama does not meet them. The remedy: "Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 22:13,14...The obvious human analogy would be to cast Obama out of the race because of his "disqualifying credentials"

POPSObama Gets Tough on Voter Fraud-- Prosecutors Obama's get tough policy to fight voter fraud prosecutors is another fine example of his tough on crime stance. There is no crime too nefarious to not get protection from the Obama campaign. As long as you are a supporter of the 'chosen one' then you are a friend of this democrat. There are none too nefarious nor controversial that are not welcome in the Obama camp. All criminals are welcomed with open arms along with arsonists, domestic terrorist, and dictatorial tyrants. Felons after all are being given the right to vote along with illegal immigrants and other law breakers. OBAMA the friend of the fiends and felons. A tireless opposer of anyone who attempts to fight crime.

Liberal tolerance indeed.

POPSWhat a real financial collapse looks like Here's what a full blown financial collapse looks like. This may explain why Bush has ordered an active unit of combat troops to be stationed inside the US to serve as an "'on call' federal response in times of emergency," specifically for use in case of "civil unrest" and for "crowd control." This is a first in American history. The unit chosen for this task is the Army's Third Infantry Division's First Brigade Combat Team which has spent thirty-five of the last sixty month in Iraq. They're here now and training for "domestic operations."

POPSYouTube Begins Streaming Approved CBS Content YouTube and CBS have not disclosed their revenue sharing terms, but YouTube must be receiving less than 30 percent of the ad revenue, considering that CBS refused to join NBC and FOX at Hulu because it didn't want to give up the 30 percent revenue share that the site was asking for. Instead, CBS has chosen to do 80-20 deals with various syndication partners. YouTube accounts for 44.1 percent of online videos views in the U.S., compared to Hulu's one percent of views. YouTube has a long way to go achieve the viewing experience that Hulu presents, but if the video giant is willing to take a slightly smaller revenue share across the board, it may just have found a way to edge its way into the network business and eat Hulu's lunch.

POPSSwift Satire gores both sides I think Jon Swift is one of the funnies guys in the blogosphere. He goes on to say: "But some conservative “intellectuals” like David Brooks subscribe to the canard that the conservative movement was defined by pointy-headed eastern elites like William Buckley, whose “entire life,” Brooks recently wrote, “was a celebration of urbane values, sophistication and the rigorous and constant application of intellect.....Brooks even goes so far as to claim that conservatives once valued “constant reading, historical understanding and sophisticated thinking.” We did? Since when? Does he honestly believe that the conservative movement was based on people who read books? Reagan wasn’t elected by the Harvard faculty. It was an angry mob tired of welfare queens and pinko fellow travelers selling us out to the Soviet Union that put him in office."
