Boycott The New York Times Petition
merrie
by merrie  11-6-2008    4
Whereas The New York Times has spent decades maligning conservatives, misreporting campaign news (to favor the more liberal candidate), sneering at patriotism, denigrating America and undermining Judeo-Christian morality. Whereas, The New York Times sets the agenda for the mainstream (establishment) media, and is widely copied by other media outlets. Whereas The New York Times consistently violates journalistic ethics - including a duty to be accurate, impartial and balanced in news coverage.

Praying For Palin
debbyski
by debbyski  10-25-2008    3
"Perhaps there are some here who also sense that what's being lost is more than just a single election. The fact that the GOP ticket is trailing behind despite the addition of Palin clearly proves that while conservative Christians may be a formidable force in American politics, they can't elect a president by themselves. The right-wing evangelicals won in previous years because they joined a Republican coalition that also included hawkish neocons, working-class "Reagan Democrats," libertarians, and old-fashioned fiscal conservatives. And some of those groups have clearly had enough. They are departing the flock in disgust with the Republican Party, which could leave the GOP ever more dependent on the Christian right. "

Palin Brings Feminism to Republicans and Christians
blueridge
by blueridge  10-19-2008    4
In case it was unclear, Sarah Palin is a "card-carrying feminist", excluding only abortion. Yet religious and Christian conservatives still praise her and claim the republican party is their party, although there is some growing dissent. No longer can Rush Limbaugh talk of the radical "Femi-nazis" then without including republican VP candidate Palin in that monologue, can he? . For a unique critique on feminism see this article which says in part: most contemporary feminism...is what Sommers has called "gender feminism," which is essentially based on a form of Marxist theory that substitutes "gender" for Marx's category of "class," or simply adds the two together, usually with "race" thrown in. This sort of "race, class, and gender" theory is typically a dangerous form of political moralism, with the same totalitarian characteristics as other versions of Marxism have proven to display.

The Love of Money is the root of all Evil
Eaglewings
by Eaglewings  10-6-2008
The old saying goes that if it appears to be too good to be true it is. Easy credit has been the ruin of our financial houses. People have overextended in many areas and housing was just the next obvious liberal pursuit. Conservatives teach that less is more and learning to live responsibly in all areas of life is the best approach. Liberals would have us believe that you can have it all and at someone else's expense. The bible teaches that the love of money is the root of all that is evil.

Palin Supports and Promotes Freemasonry
blueridge
by blueridge  9-16-2008
Her recent declaration, April 2008, encourages, supports, and promotes various Masonic secret societies which are anti-Christian in their secret oaths, rites, symbolism, and ceremonies that push a philosophical and spiritual global agenda behind their outward charities. Even the anti-Christian Deist Thomas Paine wrote that freemasonry can be traced back to Druidism . Freemasonry teaches Deism and rejects the authority of scripture (while they hypocritically swear upon it), and takes a Deistic interpretation of the Bible. Again, the "christian conservatives" should take note of what "their candidate" is really all about instead of being naive. (Bush is a member, like Kerry too, of Skull & Bones).

WSJ: Palin Not Too Conservative, Pragmatic
blueridge
by blueridge  9-7-2008    1
Which is why McCain chose her--for image only. Sarah Palin is McCain's 'Dan Quayle' (an election ploy that worked for GHWB), who would not interfere with his neoconservative agenda, including on social issues. In regards to oil drilling in Alaska: Sen. McCain opposes ANWR drilling. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal in June, Gov. Palin said that when she met with Sen. McCain at a governor's conference in Washington, they discussed energy but parted company on the issue of drilling in ANWR, which he has opposed. And in regard to her position on a social issue: she supports abstinence-until-marriage programs, where teens are taught to refrain from sex until marriage and contraception is discussed only to explain its failings. ....."Christian conservatives" should see she did not do a very good job in her own family on that issue (i.e. Bristol's pregnancy and open under-age drinking), instead of giving her blind praise.

Why McCain Picked Palin: Not Too Conservative
blueridge
by blueridge  9-3-2008    1
She was neither a Romney nor a Lieberman, and shored up his broken maverick image. "Conservative...but not an ideologue", per McCain's inner circle. Ms. Palin, and not Mr. Pawlenty or Mr. Romney, would reinforce Mr. McCain’s self-image, an adviser said. She had a reputation as a reformer in Alaska, she hunted and fished, and she had once belonged to a union. Just as crucial, Ms. Palin, 44, was beloved by the party’s religious base but did not come off as shrill. “She’s conservative,” Mr. Black said, “but she’s not an ideologue.”

Cardinal Egan joins criticism of Nancy Pelosi’s abortion remarks
Efrain Alvarado
by Efrain Alvarado  8-27-2008
“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception…Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law.” the Didache, an early Christian treatise from the first century AD, which reads: “You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.”

Texas Education is Doomed

I really can't wait to escape this state. I went to school in a small, small town in SE Texas. The sheep-god was often brought up in pep-rallies and by the student christian council. Fortunately even these hicks kept god out of the classroom and I was grateful. Seems the current generation won't be so lucky. I doubt the next batch of great scientist will hail from Texas, that's for sure. And Who needs science when you can fairy-tale everything away with your magic sheep-god. Abracadabra Amen.

Considering the gullibility of the American public and their abysmal understanding of science and evolution I wouldn't be too surprised if this hatchet job did better than expected. Though, I would be extremely disappointed in the level of intelligence and lack of judgment in the movie going public.

Putting Huckabee in Perspective: Understanding Caucuses
ouyangwulong
by ouyangwulong  1-13-2008    9
Although various people have come up with various interpretations of the Huckabee (almost all of which reinforce the positions they held to begin with...) they have all overlooked one critical element: This was a caucus primary! What does this mean? It means that, a certain number of people who woke up that morning had decided already that they were going to support a republican but they didn't know who. They then went to the caucuses, and talked with their neighbors for an afternoon, and slowly, the candidates with less support were eliminated in favor of those with more. Like an endless series of run-off elections, with your friends and neighbors acting as cheer leaders, it finally comes down to one. This means that Huckabee had the most zealous and energetic adherents among the voters so conservative that they defacto caucus for the GOP. While most moderates are swinging behind Obama, it seems like Huckabee is simply cashing in on the influence of the fringe in primaries.

Question Faith
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  12-4-2007    5
It's time for us to grow up as a culture and trash the inhibition of questioning religion. Why should this area of thought get a free pass? The only answer I can come up with is that it would not survive public doubt and criticism. As we've seen in the Bush administration, religious dogma does have consequences that can negatively affect millions of people. To allow these areas to go unquestioned is ridiculous.

Our Members Include: Jews, Arabs, Christians, and non-Muslims from all backgrounds both secular and religious, liberals and conservatives. These good people have put their differences aside to combat both anti-American and anti-Israel propaganda masquerading as anti-Imperialism and anti-Zionism: in the Western media among the intellectual elite on American college campuses in churches, synagogues and other places of worship in business groups and civic meetings wherever it exists America defeated communism-- it is time to stare down the evil of religious bigotry and intolerance.  In rebuttal: Glenn Greenwood "Salon" 11/15/07 See also: "Romney and Rudy on detaining Americans" ". . . the term "moderate" would be the least accurate term for Giuliani. He has one of the most extremist and war-loving foreign policy teams ever assembled for a major candidate. He has advocated or expressed openness to such radical policies as imprisoning American citizens with no trials, having Israel join NATO, and launching a first-strike tactical nuclear attack on Iran. And he speaks more glibly than virtually any individual in the country about torture."

FBI: Blackwater Guilty of Murdering 14 Iraqis--
blueridge
by blueridge  11-14-2007
Would like to hear talk radio spin this, and paint the FBI as "liberal". You will not hear any words of remorse or repentance from neo-Christian "conservatives" (who dismiss the Bible's open condemnation about those who "shed innocent blood"). Yet note that the rogue Blackwater mercenaries (terrorists) may be difficult to prosecute, perhaps due to "jurisdiction". But they could be tried by Iraqi government (you know, this "democracy" puppet gov't), and may in fact have an extradition agreement with the U.S. to do so. One more important thing--Blackwater LIED (just like the neocon Bush administration does) and here is the FBI's findings to prove it: Investigators found no evidence to support assertions by Blackwater employees that they were fired upon by Iraqi civilians. That finding sharply contradicts initial assertions by Blackwater officials, who said that company employees fired in self-defense and that three company vehicles were damaged by gunfire.
