POPSThe Shweeb velodrome is the worlds first human powered monorail racetrack [PICS] WOOOHOOOO! Looks like fun! The Shweeb velodrome is the world’s first human-powered monorail racetrack. It has two long overhead rail circuits, varying in height between two and four metres above the ground. High-performance pedal-powered vehicles hang under the tracks. The pods swing freely from side to side and as your speed picks up, you swing wildly around corners and soar high and low over undulating terrain. Up to five vehicles can be loaded onto each track, enabling teams to race each other either one-on-one or in tandem or you can race against the clock.

POPSThe (In)decent Glenn "Chicken Little" Beck Exploits 9/11 But let read what this glorious leader of the Counter-Revolution thinks of the VICTIMS of that heinous day: Beck: You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims' families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind -- let's give them money, let's get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn't -- all the 3,000 victims' families, I don't hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh, shut up.' I'm so sick of them. Because they're always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it's only about ten.

POPSDNA "Self Organization" the Future for Computer Technology I remember years ago reading that sci-fi book by Orson Scott Card called Xenocide. He put forth the concept that the communication between computers was "life". Well, reading this article kind of brings that concept kind of closer to becoming reality. Maybe it is just my far-fetched imagination??? More info at source.

POPSHow our brains are hardwired to love Google, Twitter, and texting. And why that's dangerous. "The system is also activated by particular types of cues that a reward is coming. In order to have the maximum effect, the cues should be small, discrete, specific—like the bell Pavlov rang for his dogs. Panksepp says a way to drive animals into a frenzy is to give them only tiny bits of food: This simultaneously stimulating and unsatisfying tease sends the seeking system into hyperactivity. Berridge says the "ding" announcing a new e-mail or the vibration that signals the arrival of a text message serves as a reward cue for us. And when we respond, we get a little piece of news, making us want more. These information nuggets may be as uniquely potent for humans as a Froot Loop to a rat. When you give a rat a minuscule dose of sugar, it engenders "a panting appetite," Berridge says—a powerful and not necessarily pleasant state."
