Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's War On The Leftist Media
merrie
by merrie  11-7-2008    1
The Republic used to be a middle of the road newspaper until Keven Willey became editorial page editor in 1998. Under her lead, the paper took a hard turn to the left. Willey left in 2002 to become editorial page editor of the Dallas Morning News. That newspaper has had a steep decline in circulation throughout Willey's tenure, most recently decreasing 11.7% since 2007. At the same time the Republic began declining, a right-leaning blog called espressopundit.com emerged and devoted considerable coverage to the Republic's demise. Blog owner Greg Patterson had access to inside information, revealing in advance layoffs and other shakeups at the paper, accompanied by photographs of a sinking ship.

From tahini to the street, all about sesame :)

by balthazarus  11-2-2008    5
"Health Benefits : Sesame oil rubbed on the skin may soothe a minor burn or sunburn as well as help in the healing process. It's not unusual to encounter fantastic claims attributed to a single food. Sesame seed oil is said to remove wrinkles when applied to the skin in a facial massage. If this news gets out, there won't be a bottle left on the grocery shelves! Eat some sesame seeds to relieve constipation and to remove worms from the intestinal tract. They're an aid to digestion, stimulate blood circulation, and benefit the nervous system. Sesame oil makes ideal massage oil because of its excellent emollient properties. Applied topically, sesame oil is thought to aid in healing chronic diseases of the skin. With its vitamin E content, it's also a benefit to the heart and nervous system. " Interesting to know... :) and tasty!

Kissing
dakotayii
by dakotayii  10-31-2008    2
However, there’s even more to the beneficial effects of kissing than what we have just mentioned above. Because of the exchange of saliva that takes place, it is also believed to boost the immune system, in that it naturally encourages one’s organism to find the proper ways of fighting the bacteria one is being exposed to. In this regard, kissing is basically like a sort of “vaccine,” only much pleasanter, experts say. On a final note, kissing is also known for reducing stress, preventing the formation of dental plaque and cavities, curing hiccups and, of course, for proving that, sometimes, two heads are, indeed, better than one. Furthermore, statistics show an average person spends an estimated 20,160 minutes of their lives locking lips – if you reckon you’re a bit behind on that, and you truly want to experience all the positive effects kissing has on the body, it might be a good idea if you started acting on it already.

Andropause and male menopause
johnmolor
by johnmolor  10-23-2008
Andropause sounds like just another new age buzz word, doesn’t it? After all, men can’t have “male menopause,” because they don’t menstruate, and middle aged men don’t experience hot flashes or any of the other symptoms accompanying menopause. That doesn’t mean there aren’t similarities. Sure, men can reproduce later in years than women (there are cases of men having children in their 80s!), but they still experience a decline in hormones. You probably never even gave a moment’s thought before about the health of your testosterone, but the average man has 30% less testosterone at age 50 than he had when he was 20. This drop in testosterone has some serious ramifications to one’s health.

Environmental Activists Are Trying To Exploit Wall Street Bailout Bill
merrie

.......energy or natural resource development projects that the Greens oppose. Once the U.S. Government owns the securities (and, thereby, the property) an omnipotent Paulson could essentially take the land out of circulation by "preserving" it as public land. He could even claim — through the economic device of "contingent valuation" — that the acquired land has more value as pristine public land than as, say, an energy or logging project. Contingent valuation uses opinion surveys to value intangible assets for which there is no market, such as scenic views and crystal-clear air. Respondents are asked hypothetical questions like, "How much would you pay to preserve a seashore view from oil drilling?" or "How much is it worth to keep a forest pristine and un-logged?" Though the whole process is pretend — the respondents know they won't actually spend any of their own money for this preservation — the government uses the method to establish monetary values of preserved la
