POPSABC Reporter Arrested in Denver Taking Pictures Arrested for taking pictures in a public space of public officials. It's just like the spy novels I read as a teen, except now this sort of thing occurs in the US instead of the Soviet Union. Basically the law these days is "Whatever the hell I say it is" if you are a police officer. If this had only been a single isolated incident, I wouldn't be so hot about this issue, but it's happening more and more every day. I read at least 1 article a week about the police abusing their power when it comes to photographers. So now I have to ask myself what I as a citizen should do. I know that patriotically I should never stand for abuse of power, but realistically I can't imagine how to even stand against this level of national fascism.

POPSOpen Letter to Senator John McCain Let's talk about another POW: Floyd James Thompson. Outside of the military, and even inside, I doubt there are few that have ever heard of him. (Read this book for a full history) He was the longest held POW in US History, just 10 days short of 9 years in captivity during the Vietnam War. He was a pilot and shot down just like you, Senator McCain. Why has the general public never heard of him and his sacrifice on behalf of the nation though? I guess its because he never used his experience for personal gain or notoriety. His story is much sadder actually. After his release, his marriage fell apart, he developed a drinking problem, and eventually suffered a massive heart attack. He represented the plight of so many POW's, he suffered silently, forgotten by a country trying to heal the still open wounds from the Vietnam War.

Attorney General of PA has filed a lawsuit saying that the republicans are waiting to launch this same attack after his nomination, i.e. a justifiable legal objection he claims disqualifying Obama for President per the Constitution and the laws that applied at the time of his birth and early life. Berg argues that Barack Obama was born in Kenya in 1961 to an American woman, Stanley Ann Dunham, and a Kenyan man, Barack Hussein Obama Senior, as reportedly shown by a birth certificate from Mombasa Maternity Hospital. According to the law at that time, a parent could pass US citizenship on to a child born abroad if the parent was at least 19 years old. Obama's mother was only 18. No hospital birth certificate has been produced to show Obama was born in Hawaii, only a certificate of birth registry after the fact, which forensics experts have denounced as a forgery. United States and Iraqi negotiators have just completed a draft security agreement that next year, Iraqi officials say, would substantially pull American forces back from cities and towns to be replaced by Iraqi security forces. Awakening members complain, with rising bitterness, that the government has been slow to make good on its promises to recruit tens of thousands of its members into those security forces. General Perkins said only 5,200 members had been recruited in a force of about 100,000.

Canadian citizen, detained in error for two weeks at JFK, then flown by US to Jordan for interrogation, held for 10 months. Restitution paid by Canadians, but court in US held it had no jurisdiction, saying that while at JFK, Arar was not technically in the USA. Totally innocent man - all now agree - abducted by the USA, probably tortured in Jordan. Can the USA say "Oops" and not be held responsible for the abduction and torture of an innocent man? Are we different than Stalin only by degree?

He lies continuously about his past and his present, including important details concerning his upbringing and personal associations. He shamelessly takes all sides of all issues, changing his public positions to suit what he thinks people want to hear -- far in excess of the boilerplate, mendacious blather put forth by most other politicians. Subjected to a rootless upbringing by a self-absorbed, radical leftist mother, and abandoned by a self-absorbed, hard-drinking philandering father, he sought refuge, meaning and personal grounding in drugs and in the hateful words and destructive ideologies of men like Jeremiah Wright, Michael Pfleger and William Ayers. What are the odds that the Times's Nicholas Kristof will release the tape recording of that Obama interview so that language experts can determine whether or not Obama's Arabic accent is indeed "first rate?"

POPSObama's Indonesian Registration Document and Media Cover-Up Reasons for censorship? The Associated Press and the rest of the mainstream media probably had this photo of the registration document in their hands or databases but refused to touch it. After CNN published the facts that FOX incorrectly reported that the school was a madrassa, the entire issue of Barack Obama's name of 'Barry Soetero' was side stepped. It was probably decided that this material or photo shouldn't be available to the general public. (The same idea was probably applied to any audio or visual media related to a separate issue concerning an interview between Barack Obama and Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times.) Therefore the image lay untouched and untranslated in the Daylife.com photo repository for 18 months.
