POPSThanks, Senator Obama! My Transition From Wonk To Star Wasn’t there, perhaps, something more in that sentence? Something that might, you know, accurately portray my views? A little more Googling to find the original story and, yep, there was more. Though the ad ended the non-quote with a period, it should have used an ellipsis. Oddly enough, the rest of the sentence which the ad “disappeared” criticized the Obama tax plan. Of course I’m flattered that the Obama campaign thinks so highly of me that they insist on giving me national exposure. I just wish they had called me first, to verify the information in the ad. I imagine they’re pretty embarrassed now that The Heritage Foundation’s lawyer has notified them that their advertisement is false. In fact, the campaign must be feeling really sheepish about their gaffe. They haven’t worked up the nerve to apologize to me, or even respond to our lawyer’s letter. Perhaps they’re still debating how to set the record straight.

POPSConning the Community Manipulating Us ALL. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The Obama campaign is now distancing itself from Acorn, claiming Mr. Obama never organized with it and has nothing to do with illegal voter registration. Yet it's disingenuous to channel cash into an operation with a history of fraud and then claim you're shocked to discover reports of fraud. As with Rev. Jeremiah Wright and William Ayers, Mr. Obama was happy to associate with Acorn when it suited his purposes. But now that he's on the brink of the Presidency, he wants to disavow his ties. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ? ? ? ? When did 51% of us become so blind?

POPSPolice use bogus "hostage" claim to seek entry to I-Witness Video office Also from there site... "all Freemen ... have a Right publickly to remonstrate the Abuses of Power, in the strongest Terms, to put their Neighbours upon their Guard, against the Craft or open Violence of Men in Authority, and to assert with Courage the Sense they have of the Blessings of Liberty "Andrew Hamilton, from his 1735 defense of John Peter Zenger, in a landmark trial which helped to establish the principle of freedom of the press in America."

POPSRace doesn't matter - YES WE CAN! This title says it all. This is the most exciting time politically that I have seen in my umpteen years of voting. The long infinite stretch of dirty politics or politics as usual is ending. At least we can all hope it is. I just finished another youtube project of talking heads who try to lead us down a path of gloom, a path of NOT IN OUR INTEREST. If you care to view it you can find it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL4HwogMIOU

POPSMaiming in your Name: "the sovereign" Bush In a 2003 memo released yesterday, the US justice department extended the sweeping wartime powers claimed by Bush to military interrogators, giving them freedom from criminal laws when questioning al-Qaida suspects. The 81-page brief was released by the American Civil Liberties Union, which fought the administration in court to secure the release of documents. ...Guardian

POPS"Kristen's" MySpace Images In News Stories Copyright Infringement? MySpace’s Terms & Conditions page states that “MySpace does not claim any ownership rights” over the photos users post on the site. It says MySpace has the right to display user content within MySpace, but “This limited license does not grant MySpace the right to sell or otherwise distribute your Content outside of the MySpace Services.” The photos remained on Youmans’s MySpace profile Thursday morning, but had been taken down by Thursday afternoon. That strikes me as incredibly silly, though, and as a relic of the pre-Internet world. Like it or not, Dupree is a public figure now and the images are indeed newsworthy. It seems to me that when a copyright holder puts images in a public forum, that should render them public domain for the purposes of news reporting and commentary. It shouldn’t confer the right to sell said images directly but their use to illustrate a story should be “fair use” under the law.

POPSJust Say No Well, back into the closet according to school officials, because it would be "disruptive" at the school to wear a rainbow t-shirt stating "I support gays" What is so threatening about that?? What kind of message are we sending our young people about freedom of speech? Again, IMO, it's all about forcing societies "acceptable" behavior on those who are different. Want to walk through the mall holding hands as a heterosexual couple? Great!!! Try it as a homosexual couple and you will risk getting the teeth knocked out of your mouth, especially two males. (of course two hot looking females will be welcomed by the other heterosexual males as debby well knows)

POPSLawyers decide who gets Oscars
The 'Academy' Claim they have first options to buy old Oscars for $10 each. Relatives want to sell a two Oscars given to Mary Pickford, and one to Charles 'Buddy' rogers. The truth seems to be, that people are never given Oscars, they can only be given custody, and enough money to rent a DVD. With the the amount of money thrown around in the movie business, calling the Academy cheapskates is too kind. The terms theft, disrespect, and biting the feeding hand come to mind. "So, did you get the Oscar?" - "Well sort of . They have custody, and I have to make an appointment to see it. They don't want Actors dirty fingerprints all over them" Maybe considering some courtroom performances they should have a lawyers category. At least then they'd only be fighting over their own Oscars. Makes Netcasting seem better all the time. People are sick of having their minds blown. They want quality and humanity, not bells, whistles, and movie merchandise. You can't buy quality, it has to be cre

POPSU.S. Claims Right to Kidnap Any British 'Suspect'--Without Evidence
Ironically, Americans fought a revolution against Britain which did this to the Colonists! Proof America has come full circle from resistance to tyranny from being the author of it. Now this should not be confused with normal legal extradition, where the foreign government cooperates and hands over suspects, by cooperative agreement treaties, to comply with laws of justice and rules of evidence to prevent criminal flight. This is a tyrannical claim to right of kidnapping without British gov't support. The danger is that the term "suspect" is then made into a crime itself, without legal remedy, people can become political prisoners. Implication is that British citizens who influence their government against the U.S. could be taken under some pretence, thus silencing opponents within Britain. P.S. Israel has no extradition treaty with the U.S., and Israeli spies and others flee to Israel, after their crimes here, to flee U.S. prosecution.

POPSLA Times Swallows for TNR Are you kidding me? "It's also not at all clear to any fair-minded reader what the telephone transcripts actually show" WHAT? After hearing their continued defense of this guy, then reading the phone transcript tells me that the TNR guys were trying to hold on to this military-bashing with every last shred of fingernail and dignity. What a load of crap from this LAT guy. Every reference to blogs and mags that tried to get at the underlying B.S. are derogatory. AND WHAT'S MORE~they still haven't retracted it. It still, after all this, sits out there like a festering, fetid load long devoid of any telltale steam. ;-)

POPSIran's parallel judicial system From source: This is true even if the killer mistakenly identified the victim as corrupt. In that case, the law requires "blood money" to be paid to the family. Every year in Iran, a senior cleric determines the amount of blood money required in such cases. This year it is $40,000 if the victim is a Muslim man, and half that for a Muslim woman or a non-Muslim. Hossein Nejad Malayeri, the brother of Gholamreza Nejad Malayeri, who was killed by the group in Kerman, said: "Such laws are not acceptable in our society today. That means if somebody has money, he can kill, and claim the victim was corrupt."

POPSCreationist vs. Atheist YouTube War Marks New Breed of Copyright Claim As more people catch on to how useful YouTube can be for delivering political, religious and cultural messages, DMCA claims are likely to increase. With news cycles moving at light-speed, an illegal copyright claim might well suppress unwanted news long enough to distort coverage. ... "Oscar Wilde once said that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about," Geller said. "When skeptics bring videos out, come on, that's free publicity ... I've been hounded by skeptics for years. I'm used to turning it around."
