POPSIs Web 3.0 all about aggregation? Clipmarks is! Now here's something we know a thing or two about :). The thing they don't realize is that the true power is in enabling everyone to aggregate and filter the news and information for each other. It's not something that the major media companies need to do for us...we're doing it already! But then again, we all know that already don't we ;)

POPSSome more changes for Clipmarks So, last week we went live with Clipmarks 3.0; a HUGE set of new features, functionality and user interface changes. This was definitely the most challenging time we ever experienced, as it literally felt like there were a million pieces to the assemble. Overall, I feel really good about how everything went. That said, there were a few things I wish we handled better. Tonight, we’re introducing the first in a series of updates aimed at improving upon the initial release of V3.0. These are based in large part on amazing feedback we received from our users. Thank you to everyone for giving us your feedback and caring so much about Clipmarks. We’ve got a lot more coming… Clip on!

POPSClipcasts & The Shape of the Net to Come It's amazing how the press out there, and most of the public, seems to have missed the big picture of what's going on here. They think this is about social networking and internet advertising. They are dead wrong. We're all involved in a much bigger game now, and the pieces are the very building blocks of society's future. I've clipped a few of the puzzle pieces together to make my point: 1. Cold War: Open v. Closed software ...leads to... 2. Show down between Cloud computing vs. PC software ...meanwhile... 3. Microsoft (PC OS) muscles in on Facebook (Internet Platform for Web Apps.) ...and on the other side... 4. Google (the world's leading search engine) muscles in on Firefox (the world's leading alternative web browser.) ...and then... 5.) Clipmarks, total wild card, leapfrogs over facebook into decentralized internet platforms with Clipcasts! Something VERY VERY BIG is afoot!

POPSThe Spread of Ideologies: ClipCast v. The Rise of Bengali Islam Although I've always enjoyed using clipmarks as a tool to research social trends and ideologies, with Clipcast, Clipmarks is rapidly becoming a subject worthy of such research itself. Consider this: The effect of making Clipmarks (and it's community of ardent followers) mobile, and capable of organizing in more than one internet context is remarkably similar to the way in which Islam spread over much of South and South Eastern Asia. For those who are interested, I heartily suggest reading Richard Eaton's "The Rise of Islam on the Bengal Frontier." I've clipped its thesis here. It is one of the most interesting and insightfully approaches to understanding the interaction between social and ideological groups. It goes well beyond the coarse but popular theories of war and mercantilism in explaining the reason for Islamic success in a part of the world that America has failed miserably at influencing.

POPSClipcast & Clipmarks 3.0: The Good, the Bad, and well, nothing ugly, actually. Hey, Eric, Eric, Eric, Derek, and Adam-ek Nice job on the latest clipdate. I the new format is cool, easier on the eyes, and for some reason now Firefox will spell check in the title field, which is important for someone like me, who spells on a third grade level. Also, I love being able to use clipmarks to communicate what I'm reading with my real world friends on Facebook. BUT! I miss being able to see the tags (often witty) and comments (essential) on the same page as the clip. Visually uniting the commentary with the evidence is one of the things that I think is most responsible for the comparatively civil tone of discourse on clipmarks, and I hope you bring that back. Next thing I want is to be able to somehow clip things I'm reading. Hey, could you have a feature where I just type in a thousand words of text and a citation so I can use clipmarks to keep track of my paper reading as well?

POPSClipmarks app for Facebook So, one of the highlights of Clipmarks 3.0 is that your clips can now live in 2 (or more) places at once. By adding the Clipmarks app for Facebook, you'll easily be able to share your clips with your friends on Facebook, and see what they're clipping. Our goal is give you the option of combining the best of both words. With great ease and simplicity, you can choose to share your experience with the clipmarks community and your Facebook friends. You can click the source link of this clip to add the app.

POPSForbes interviews EricG on Clipmarks Since nobody clipped this yet ... here's the interview with EricG @ Forbes. Eric gave the link away in arifsali's clip Welcome to ClipCast . The video itself is unclippable (!), so go to source to watch it.

POPSIs your A Red? "Although "A" is represented by ten of the eleven colors (there was no case of a purple "A", but, then, as per Berlin and Kay (1969), purple is in the final set of four colors to be added), 11.5 (which makes for 30%) of the 38 examples I recorded placed "A" as being red. This is not overwhelming, but significant enough to be interesting, especially in light of previous studies which also indicated "A" to be red." clipmarks missed this paragraph >_> *kicks* My colors: A - red E - orange I - white O - black U - brown :3

POPSClipmarks > Crashes my Firefox I don't know about you, but the clipmarks site sometimes crashes my firefox. This seems to happen randomly when loading a clip Am I the only one experiencing this problem? (I included a list of my installed ff extensions, maybe there's a conflict there?; I've got Win XP Professional with SP2 & all updates; & Firefox 1.5.0.7)

POPSIs there such a thing as Web 2.0? I totally agree with Russell's analysis. There more this Web 2.0 term is used the more i want to distance Clipmarks from it. I find it to be more of a fraternity than a movement. A month or so ago i wrote a post about this on my blog. Here's a link to that if you're interested: http://clipmarks.blogs.com/ericgoldstein/2005/11/what_web_20_mea.html
