POPSNo Sunspots in August Presage New Ice Age Man-made gases, one step up. Drop in solar activity, ten steps down. Gore and his cabal of politically motivated pseudo-scientists, complete idiots. The only responsible public policy is to devote our resources to adapt to climate change, not try to control it.

POPSOrion twins show not all are identical The fact that the twins are different means the study of their eclipses, can shed more light on the formation of stars, and they are one of the yardsticks astronomers can use to test their theories on star formation. The information gained can help revise some theories that exist at the moment, including the ages of star types.

POPSCurious cloud formations linked to quakes The authors say that if recognisable cloud formations precede large quakes, they could be used for prediction, but other seismologists are sceptical. "There is no physical model that explains why something would suddenly occur two months before an earthquake, and then shut off and not occur again," says Mike Blanpied of the

POPSN44 - Interstellar Cavern The image provides one of the most detailed views ever obtained of this relatively large region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy to the Milky Way, located some 150,000 light-years away and visible from the Southern Hemisphere.

POPSRTL-TV presents: Military Cloud Cover After the first discovery Karsten Brandt has filed a legal charge against unknowns for weather manipulation, based on his careful verifications and data gathered by radar through which he documented every anomalous cloud formation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okB-489l6MI

POPSDiesel Cars Getting More Popular One of the main turn-offs of driving a diesel car was its sound. Ever heard of a diesel-engined muscle car? Environmental concerns and practicality weighs more heavily than machismo though i guess.

POPSHuge gas cloud will hit Milky Way When it does hit, the cloud could indeed set off a new burst of star formation in the Milky Way. "Over a few million years, it'll look like a celestial New Year's celebration, with huge firecrackers going off in that region of the galaxy," said Dr Felix Lockman, from the NRAO.

POPSthink I'm going to have to find a new place to experiment! I've attracted way too many fish! It's hard to sink milk jugs! lol I was finally down to one before it sank. I came back around to look at it and it was like - which one is it! lol I had to pull everything back up and attach balloons again. Pulling up 15 lbs on a piece of wet string is not easy! Anyway, here is where I ran right over the buoy - remembering to go to neutral. I put arrows on the middle balloon. DFW Mike, you were right. In another run I put my unit on one side and ran by the buoy. When I got past it and went back to both sides the balloons showed on that side too. In the side image picture that cloud in the middle on the right side is prop wash near the surface from when I was there before. Look at that unusual shad formation on the bottom. It looks like a folded piece of paper.

POPS Droughts Not Global WArming The Global WArming crowd thinks of plants solely in terms of their ability to absorb carbon dioxide, but Dr. McAlpine takes a more scientific view by looking at the specific ways plants can affect the surrounding environment.

POPS Is the Photo Real or Fake? From time to time, someone will send me an image they suspect is a fake and ask for my opinion on it. In an article for oeMagazine Robert D. Fiete or ITT Industries says, "Identifying falsified images can be straightforward if you know a few tricks." So, the next time you are in doubt, take a look at this excellent article on how to spot photo fakery. (Thanks Bonnie for the link). After learning from this article, jump over to About Urban Legends and take the Real or Fake Photo image quiz. Even with my new-found photo fakery spotting skills, I still only got 71% correct. I guess I'm more gullible than I thought I was!
