POPSGiant Pythons Invade Florida If I was religious, I may be tempted to fear this as a biblical sign. Something like " Beware the adder that is big for it may squeeze the shit out of you."

POPSSarkozy Excuse me, but what were the French people thinking in chosing this scumbag in the first place: a blind Zionist, a right-wing neocon who buries his lips between the rear cheeks of George Bush, a man determined to re-colonize Africa and put France in wars. All this was plain and clear to me even as he was running for office. Now the French feel they've been hoodwinked and bamboozled. As critical as this election/selection was at this point in history, the French went with their racial prejudices and misogyny. No tears here. By the time this person leaves office, France will be in a war, France's economy will be completely trashed and France will once again be back on the world's shit list.

POPSGiant Pythons Could Inhabit 1/3 of the US Geez. People dropping pythons that can grow that big off in the wild? I'm not afraid of snakes, but that's simply not something I want to see sitting in my yard at six in the morning when I go to work. Is it really so hard to drop it off at a shelter or something? I even know of pet shops that take in unwanted reptiles.

POPSAbid Mustafa: "The West to the World: Accept Our Values or Die"
The West armed with its secular doctrine and materialistic world-view proceeded to exploit, plunder and colonize vast populations in order to control resources and maximize wealth. In pursuit of these newfound riches the West succeeded in destroying civilizations such as the Incas, American Indians, Aztecs, and Aborigines. Those who survived colonization were forcibly converted to Christianity, stripped of their heritage and sold into bondage to western companies. For the indigenous people of Africa, India, Asia, the Middle East and others, the promises of freedom quickly evaporated and were replaced by colonial rule. Resistance offered by the natives towards their colonial masters was met by brute force . When the West was not destroying the natives they were too busy annihilating each other in a desperate bid to cling on to their precious colonies. World Wars I and II are prime examples of the destructive nature of western values.

POPSQuotes of Jagad Guru Chris Butler On Harmony History has shown us that our tendency to colonize and exploit other regions has always backfired. This planet can be made a happier, more peaceful place to live in, but the change will have to come from within the hearts of all of us living here.

POPS'Second Earth' found a cool red dwarf called Gliese 581 has a planet companion that seemingly fits within the limits set for being inhabitable. The possibility of life evolving on the planet is realistic enough to consider the fact that we may not be as alone in the universe as previously thought. Conjecture and speculation combine to fuel interest in the possibility that either we may have neighbors or that we may have real estate to colonize in the future. Who knows what the future will bring to us while our own planet grows increasingly uninhabitable.

POPSFood: 5-second rule should be 30-sec. rule! (8 Jun 2007) I always assumed 5 seconds was too *long*! Very cool. I love findings like this that challenge our uptight, germophobe attitudes. Parents, let your kids play outdoors and drink from the toilet bowl ;) (Yes, there's also a study showing that many toilet bowls are as clean as bottled water. Wish I'd had Clipmarks when I read that -- it's long gone offline.)

POPSFabulous sea creatures from Antarctica Research such as this will enable scientists to learn how climate change drove previous evolutionary changes. If only it was possible to accurately predict the the future effects of global warming......

POPSThank You, Jimmy Carter Don't let the right-wing propaganda machines convince you that Carter is anti-Semitic when he is not! More from Rabbi Lerner: "In an interview...in the January issue of Tikkun magazine, Carter points out that he is “not referring to racism as a basis for Israeli policy in the West Bank, but rather the desire of a minority of Israelis to occupy, confiscate and colonize Palestinian land.” To enforce that occupation of Palestinian land, Israel has built in the West Bank separate roads for Jewish settlers and Palestinians, built separate school systems, has totally different allocations of money, water, food and security for each population, wildly privileging the Jewish settlers and discriminating against the Palestinians whose families have lived there for centuries." "What Carter is arguing is that the best interests of Israel and the United States are not served by the current policies."
