POPSWhy is a U.S. Army brigade being assigned to the "Homeland"? Cont.... The 1st BCT's soldiers also will learn how to use "the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded," 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them. "It's a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they're fielding. They've been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it." The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.

POPSArmy Will Deploy Homeland Defense Unit Welkommen sie zu Homeland Security. HALT! Starting Oct 1 in case of "civilian unrest", just in time for the elections and financial crisis. This mission will become a "permanent one". The US will now become "occupied", gradually, just like Iraq. Can you say "police state"? According to this article this could be called the invasion of the C-smurfs (see last line). So much for posse comitatus that forbids the military for domestic policing.

POPSIVAW Winter Soldier on the Hill-Jason Lemieux from the report: Now extend it. Where does the line get drawn? At what point do you find the perfect balance between rules that must not be broken and soldiers or marines that must be cared for? These are hard decisions they are being forced to make-but I think it is important to say these are decision they are forced into. Everyone in Iraq right now is forked, involved in a chess game where they must lose one of two crucial items. It is very hard to leave intact. I will also agree with Jason that I find it hard to believe that his XO wouldn't completely understand that Marines are often quite happy to use a nuke instead of a flyswatter, if given the option. Army is much the same, in many ways. Few really consider the cost of the rounds. It's often a pleasure simply to shoot.

POPSHomeland Defense Task Force Created to be deployed during a "terrorist attack". Note the continuous propaganda we hear, and justification for continual federalizing of everything, is that a terrorist attack is "not if, but when", despite absolutely nothing for 7 years. Also everything is enabled always around fall timing, to coincide with September 11th to reinforce both the war and domestic Security State agendas that is trampling our Constitution and liberties, while domestic crime and traffic accidents are a greater threat than terrorism. Note also the deployment of spy drones, UAVs.

POPSSoldier Awarded Service Cross For Saving Wounded Colleagues Admiral Eric T. Olson, commander of U.S. Special Operations Command, and Lt. Gen. Robert W. Wagner, commanding general of the Army Special Operations Command, presented the award to O'Connor. Olson, who recounted the battle in his speech, described O'Connor's actions as legendary. Wednesday's ceremony marked only the second time the award has been presented to a soldier for actions in Afghanistan. O'Connor is assigned to the 7th Special Forces Group. The unit is based at Fort Bragg, home to the Army's Special Operations Command and the 82nd Airborne Division.

POPSAncestor of R2-D2 and C-3PO makes his debut On the ends of the arms are Dextre's hands, or Orbital Replacement Unit/Tool Changeout Mechanisms. Each hand consists of parallel retractable jaws, which are used to grip objects. Dextre also has a tool kit and is equipped with lights and video equipment. "Probably the most important thing in Dextre is what we call the force moment sensor," explains Richard Rembala from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates, the renowned Canadian robotics company that has led the development of Dextre. "The sensor is located at the wrist on each arm, and this sensor really gives Dextre a sense of touch. As it's grabbing boxes, it can actually measure how hard it's pushing, how hard it's twisting. "This means it can limit the forces applied to structures so it doesn't break them." Dextre is the final part in a three-component system that the Canadians have built to service the exterior of the space station.

POPSTillman2: The Inquiry. Long WP report . Not murder, Cockup, IMO! As the ambushed group broke free from the canyon, machine guns blazing, one heavily armed vehicle mistook an allied Afghan militiaman for the enemy and poured hundreds of rounds at positions occupied by fellow Rangers, killing Pat Tillman and the Afghan. • The decision by a Ranger commander to divide Tillman's 2nd Platoon into two groups, despite the objections of the platoon's leader, "created serious command and control issues" and "contributed to the eventual breakdown in internal Platoon communications." The Post could not confirm the name of the officer who issued this command. Were the failures that resulted in Pat Tillman's death serious enough to warrant administrative or criminal charges?

POPSMarine PFC Bales, KIA, Proud. You know the story of Jessica Lynch, Pat Tillman? That was an Army propaganda story by the leaders of that unit., Here is another interesting story: it was later reported as a "non hostile accident", funny how all of Iraq at that time was under was under attack ......there are witnesses to the event. To this day the other personnel that received wounds didn't get purple hearts. The OIC of the convoy fudged certain things, to CYA. A brave young man like this didn't get the full Honor his deserves because of the political BS with allot of people in the military. Ever since politicians tried to rule over combat, allot of sorry mistakes have been made at the cost of Americans. The Marine Corps was built on principles long ago set forth by my forefathers, and now you have these "individuals " that try to pretend that they are leaders or know something about war, but the truth of it is : They where scared to go where some of us went by thier command.

POPSThe Navy Sees Value in Gay Service Members The hypocrisy of "Don't ask don't tell" shows itself as the Navy recalls a sailor it discharged after he came out to his commanding officer as being gay. What happened to the argument about unit cohesion? I guess when someone is really needed, who they have sex with really doesn't matter in the least. Now, will congress PLEASE repeal that stupid, insulting policy preventing gay people from serving openly and proudly in our military?
