Fed Covers Up Financial Crisis

the current tax, spend and bailout policies. His basic message is that the U.S. is broke and that the situation will get worse under an Obama Administration because of its commitment to more federal interference and involvement in the economy. Schiff, who blows the whistle on these schemes, is not very popular in the media, which have been telling us consistently that things would get better after Wall Street was bailed out. Nevertheless, during this discussion, a week before the election, Schiff predicted an Obama victory because “nobody is going to vote for four more years of this” and voters “are going to grasp at straws and vote for anybody who promises change.” But the change is phony, he warned. Obama “will put several nails in the coffin,” he said. “We’re going to get more of the same, only worse.” Fox News Host Jaime Colby asked, “Where are the criminal prosecutions because I think their pictures should be hanging up in the post office?”

Avatars and Second Life adultery:
merrie
by merrie  11-14-2008    3
~ ~ ~ ~ A tale of online cheating and real-world heartbreak~ ~ ~ ~ Kira and Rik, you see, don’t exist. They are avatars, online characters who were created by Kristen and Steve in Second Life, an internet fantasy world, where you can reinvent yourself and embark on the kind of adventures you’ve always dreamed of – including a WAG-style white wedding with 20ft train, and even, as we have seen today, the phenomenon of cyber-adultery. “Kira was everything I should have been,” says Kristen, who has a 12-year-old son. “Beautiful, blonde and slim. My real life was diabolical and I wanted an escape. In Second Life I could be who I wanted to be, and when I met Nik I was in control for the first time in years. I got my life back.” It gets even weirder once you realise that Kristen’s mother logged on to Second Life to see her “daughter” Kira wed Nik and that Steve’s mate was his best man, watching, all choked up, on the sidelines.

California economy loses $28 billion yearly to health effects of pollution
Kelika
by Kelika  11-13-2008
Considered the most lethal form of air pollution, microscopic particulates expelled from tailpipes, factory smoke stacks, diesel trucks and equipment can penetrate through the lungs and enter the bloodstream. Exposure to these fine particles has been linked to severe asthma, cancer and premature deaths from heart and lung disease. "In the South Coast basin, an average 64% of the population is exposed to health-endangering annual averages of particulates," Hall said, "and in the most populated county -- Los Angeles -- it is 75%. "In most years, the South Coast and San Joaquin basins vie with the Houston, Texas, area for the worst air pollution trophy, but this year we took it back," she said. "That's not a prize you want to be handed. Essentially, imported T-shirts and tennis shoes are being hauled to Omaha and the big-rig diesel pollution stays here."

American Policy Elites Do Not Care About the Starving
brightlight4
by brightlight4  11-12-2008
World food prices grew 22% from June 2007 to June 2008 and a significant portion of the increase was propelled by the $175 billion invested in commodity futures that speculate on price instead of seeking to feed the hungry. The result is wild food price spirals, both up and down, with food insecurity remaining widespread. For a family on the bottom rung of poverty a small price increase is the difference between life and death, yet neither US presidential candidate has declared a war on starvation. Instead both candidates talk about national security and the continuation of the war on terror as if this were the primary election issue. Given that ten times as many innocent people died on 9/11/01 than those in the World Trade centers, where is the Manhattan project for global hunger? Where is the commitment to national security though unilateral starvation relief? Where is the outrage in the corporate media with pictures of dying children and an analysis of who benefits from hunger?

Obama administration to ratchet up hunt for bin Laden
jatfla
by jatfla  11-12-2008    6
Well, that's the first bit of good news I've heard so far with anything connected to Obama. However, they couldn't resist a dig: "The Obama team believes the Bush administration has downplayed the importance of catching the FBI's most-wanted terrorist because it has not been able to find him." The Bush Administration has NEVER downplayed the importance of finding Bin Laden; maybe didn't want to broadcast their operations to the entire world, but never have them minimized the desire/will to get him.

People Power Can Beat Climate Change
thisnamecantbetaken

Engaging communities involves a lot more than simply asking for sacrifices. A supportive planning system and the guarantee of a stable, premium price for energy sold back to the grid has given people an incentive to join forces and create renewable energy. At a time of economic downturn and rising fuel costs, it is hard to imagine that the advantages of this opportunity to develop sustainable income streams would be lost on the general public. It offers politicians, business and investors the opportunity to unleash an entrepreneurial spirit capable of reaping financial and environmental returns for both the people and the planet.

Tungsten Carbide Ring

I recently bought my husband a tungsten carbide ring for his birthday. It is so gorgeous and looks so good on him! He really likes it too!!! It is so scratch resistant, that he can even wear it to work without having to worry about messing it up. The ring did not cost too much, I guess tungsten carbide costs a lot less than other metals like titanium, platinum, gold, and silver, so I did not pay a fortune on his gift. =)

The night we waved goodbye to America...
jatfla
by jatfla  11-9-2008    3
I thought some of the hero worship would die down a little after the election. These two are being molded, shaped, characterized much like the mythical Camelot of the JFK years....only times 10! During those years we only had the likes of Walter Cronkite to give us the news we needed to know; now, well I can see why the Democrats are avid about the "Fairness Doctrine". FTA: "And now the US, like Britain before it, has begun the long slow descent into the Third World. How sad. "

Obama's First Big Foreign Crisis - Denials Already

The Polish Prime Minister says he said: Yes. Obama's advisors say: He made no comittment. Ah! -- Foreign diplomacy has begun. This specific issues -- an issue that could lead to a nuclear exchange in Europe (!) -- started one day after Obama's great victory. While all over the world many people were dancing in the streets and in rural villages, leaders sending messages of congratulations, etc. --- while this was going on -- The Russians announced they were sending nuclear missiles to their border with Poland. Why? -- In respond to the USA building a missile base in Poland (on the Russian border) That -- I would say -- is rather a rude awakening the day after your greatest public success. Now, two days later, we have political leaders from two countries (ours and Poland) playing the game of he said, she said, he didn't say that, who said what? I don't want to get all 'fanatical,' about this but I feel a certain 'responsibility,' to tell Europeans your lives are i

Certain "experts in the Defense Dept....". Start building the system; that doesn't preclude the idea of "testing". Of course, if he wants to "redistribute the wealth" around the US AND the World, I can see where he might have a problem....though he doesn't seem to have a problem raising $$$ for things like election and inauguration. However, Europe needs to be doing a lot of the financing.

Does Religion Make You Nice?Does atheism make you mean?
wildcat
by wildcat  11-8-2008    15
It is at this point that the "We need God to be good" case falls apart. Countries worthy of consideration aren't those like North Korea and China, where religion is savagely repressed, but those in which people freely choose atheism. In his new book, Society Without God, Phil Zuckerman looks at the Danes and the Swedes—probably the most godless people on Earth. They don't go to church or pray in the privacy of their own homes; they don't believe in God or heaven or hell. But, by any reasonable standard, they're nice to one another. They have a famously expansive welfare and health care service. They have a strong commitment to social equality. And—even without belief in a God looming over them—they murder and rape one another significantly less frequently than Americans do.

by merrie  11-7-2008    1
Obama faces a Cold War threat and a warning from Israel Gordon Brown became one of the first world leaders to congratulate Obama in a ten-minute telephone call last night. Aides said they discussed Obama's plans for a phased withdrawal from Iraq and his commitment to boost forces in Afghanistan. Speaking from the South Lawn of the White House, President Bush said he would be meeting Mr Obama next week and is making 'unprecedented efforts' to make a smooth transition during his final 74 days in office. As if the instant foreign policy tests were not enough, Mr Obama was also facing more economic problems with the Dow Jones Index dropping for a second successive day. Wall Street greeted his election win by plunging nearly 500 points on Wednesday and it was down again by 274 points in afternoon trading.

Damascus Homes Builds New Homes in Atlanta - Atlanta GA New Homes

Jay and Gina York founded Damascus Homes in Loganville, GA with firm roots of faith and a passion for excellence. Little did they know that just 12 years later, Atlanta new homebuyers would catapult Damascus Homes to a 'TOP 20' Atlanta Homebuilder, with numerous accolades of professionalism and awards. The guiding principle of "waking up every day to work diligently, and put the customer first" has proven that a business can be blessed with exponential growth, and still maintain the one-on-one personal feel that is so vitally important to today's homebuyer.
