POPSA Win For the Good Guys The SPLC was victorious in their civil trial against the IKA. Good news in light of all the negativity with the economy, racial threats after the election and the stripping of rights in California. Where there are people of conscience there is hope.

POPSCitizens Will Risk Arrest to Bring Indictment of Bush and Cheney In April 2008, Obama said that as president he would indeed ask his new Attorney General and his deputies to "immediately review the information that's already there" and determine if an inquiry is warranted. It is the responsibility of citizens to make sure this happens. Chief Prosecutor at the Nuremberg Tribunals following World War II, stated, "let me make clear that while this law is first applied against German aggressors, the law includes, and if it is to serve a useful purpose it must condemn aggression by any other nations, including those which sit here now in judgement." It is time, no matter who becomes our next president, to bring the criminals of the Bush regime to justice. We, the people, have the power and we can restore justice. Our group would include someone who was directly affected by the illegal invasion of Iraq.

POPSMorals vs. Liberty Thomas Davidson expressed it this way: "That which is not free is not responsible, and that which is not responsible is not moral. In other words, freedom is the condition of morality." An interesting perspective that morality inevitably reduces liberty, yet without the liberty to choose, one cannot be moral.

POPSRepublican Rule Is Dangerous Altemeyer believes about 25 percent of the adult population in the United States is solidly authoritarian (with that group mostly composed of followers, and a small percentage of potential leaders). It is in these ranks of some 70 million that we find the core of the McCain/Palin supporters. They are people who are, in Altemeyer's words, are "so self-righteous, so ill-informed, and so dogmatic that nothing you can say or do will change their minds." In my book Conservatives Without Conscience, I set forth the traits of authoritarian leaders and followers, which have been distilled from a half-century of empirical research, during which thousands of people have voluntarily been interviewed by social scientists. The touch points in these somewhat-overlapping lists of character traits provide a clear picture of the characters of both John McCain and Sarah Palin. Altemeyer is a social scientist based in Canada (see the list at the site)

POPS Why I'm Voting For Barack Obama It’s time we all reached down deep, some maybe deeper than than others, to Save the Children. It’s Obama as the Sally Struthers of our national conscience. It’s more than that. He’s the guy on our big national speedboat with lots of babes in bikinis. What are you waiting for? He’s got the secret to attaining universal health care and wealth equity, you just have to buy his tape. America can have killer abs, without all that sweating and going to the gym and kicking down third-world mudhut doors. It is that easy. Return it in four years, no obligation, if not fully satisfied. And that’s why I’ve decided to announce that I’m voting for Obama.* * That’s what I’ll be telling pollsters, the national media and everyone I know, anyway. What I do in the polling booth is my own damn business. Look, the leadership of the free world and all that is really important, but the last thing I want is anyone to think I’m a racist. Or even worse, not cool.**

POPSElection talking point recap Clipped from my friend Tongodeon 's Livejournal. I don't always agree with him, but he's a smart, clear-eyed, level-headed guy. More from the post: Disgusted with McCain but can't vote for Obama? Perhaps I can interest you in Bob Barr. Also, vote no on Prop 8 because straight marriage is not threatened ( not by that, anyway ) even though same-sex marriage will be . Prop 8 is stupid evil because it won't even accomplish what they think it will accomplish .

POPSPillar of Unbelief - Freud First, Freud's "super-ego" is not the intellect or conscience, but the unfree, passive reflection in the individual's psyche of society's restrictions on his desires—"thou shalt nots." What we take to be our own insight into real good and evil is only a mirror of man-made social laws, according to Freud. Second, the "ego" is not free will but a mere facade. Freud denied the existence of free will, he was a determinist and saw man as a complex animal-machine. Finally, the "id" ("it") is the only real self, according to Freud, and it's comprised simply of animal desires. It is impersonal; thus the name "it." Freud thus is denying the existence of a real personality, individual I-ness. Just as he denied God ("I Am"), he denies God's image, the human "I."

POPSGitmo prosecutor consulted priest for help This is one more reason why American's are hated in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. Give prisoners a fair trail and don't hide evidence or use torture. At least you will gain respect, unless you have a hidden agenda!!

POPSRevolution Been Going On, but AGAINST Us! I have been looking forward to the rise of a strong minority to revolt against the insane American government. But now I see through this article the Revolution began some time ago against me, you, and the people. I believe it to be so; we are in the midst of a revolution; hence all these injuries and usurpations against us. I already feel the hunger pains. I must resist for conscience sake.

POPSmurder mystery the mystery is: why have we let these types of things happen in our nation?
