POPSRoboBugs: That Dragonfly is a U.S. Government Spy More: Defense Department documents describe nearly 100 different models in use today, some as tiny as birds, and some the size of small planes. All told, the nation's fleet of flying robots logged more than 160,000 flight hours last year -- a more than fourfold increase since 2003. A recent report by the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College warned that if traffic rules are not clarified soon, the glut of unmanned vehicles "could render military airspace chaotic and potentially dangerous." The Hybrid Insect Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems project aims to create literal shutterbugs -- camera-toting insects whose nerves have grown into their internal silicon chip so that wranglers can control their activities. DARPA researchers are also raising cyborg beetles with power for various instruments to be generated by their muscles.

POPSFeds Train Clergy To "Quell Dissent" During Martial Law [VIDEO]
Romans 13 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing.

POPSSyrian secret police influencing Western policies? Maher Arar, the Canadian who was seized by US operatives while changing planes in NYC, shipped to Syria, tortured for ten months and then set free, is receiving a settlement from the Canadian government. Tthe US denies wrongdoing. This column details the ways in which Western intelligence agencies depend on Syria for crucial leads and information, including the tip that sent Arar off to the torture chamber. It's clear, though, that Syria has a stake in controlling internal dissent, and this seems to have been the impetus behind the Arar episode. Who would have thought that Bashir al-Assad would have the FBI doing his bidding at LaGuardia Airport!
