POPS"1984" George Orwell Knew Google/You Tube Another attempt to usurp our privacy rights. Viacom claims copyrights. I'm all for the American dream. I am also for the right of individuals privacy, part of that same American dream. Viacoms fight to win access to the personal data from You Tube goes too far. Better for them to to use the technology to create filters, blocks, screens that will keep their info from being hacked than from having access to personal information. If they can't keep safe their own content what makes anyone think they can protect the content they are wanting to have the freedom to acquire? If you have any doubts about what is going on just reread George Orwell's 1984 novel. For the last few years in the name of security our rights have been slowly but surely diminished. We live in a global community. It's time for everyone to realize that and treat each other with the same accord, respect we share with those closest to us.

POPSNobody's Copyright Let’s see what some wise people, spiritual teachers, say about copyright. U. G. Krishnamurti, the controversial teacher/non-teacher, expressed it this way. My teaching, if that is the word you want to use, has no copyright. You are free to reproduce, distribute, interpret, misinterpret, distort, garble, do what you like, even claim authorship, without my consent or the permission of anybody (U. G. Krishnamurti, The Mystique of Enlightenment, India. Dinesh Vaghela. Goa. 1982: http://www.well.com/user/jct/mystiq.htm)

POPSScrabulous Apocalypse The game was a blatant copy of Scrabble, and there's no question it was violating all kinds of copyrights. But it got on the site long before Scrabble maker Hasbro ever launched their own application, so huge numbers of Facebook users got addicted to the game.

POPSNIES Kids' Pages - Sing-Along Songs Midis & Lyrics Cool government web site that has all sorts of stuff for kids, one of those things being an index of lyrics and tunes to Sing-Alongs. I have been having a blast finding songs we used to sing at the summer picnics my neighborhood (Capital Hill, Seattle, Wa) used to have in the 70's. They were hosted by the Bullit sp? family, former owners of KING 5 TV. I just happened to be lucky enough to be best friends with someone who lived accross the street from them. We always sang songs when it started getting dark. I have a lot of good memories about those picnics. They were nice people too. One year they paid for me to go to summer camp because my family couldn't afford it. We didn't ask, I think they heard if from one of my friends.

POPSU2 To Stay Put with Universal The Internet rumors were flying recently that U2 would soon be leaving Universal Music Group ( VIV ) to head to greener pastures at Live Nation ( LYV ). Turns out that was not quite true.

POPSFlickr + Library of Congress: Flickr Commons What a great idea. Collaborative tagging and description for publicly-owned, historic photos. Some creative thought re copyrights as well -- they've introduced a new designation, "No known copyright restrictions." Cool.

POPSTED: 3 Stories and An Argument I was interested in this video, because I recently accepted terms and requirements for a copyright on software that gave the companies rights all throughout the UNIVERSE.

POPSBill O'Reilly 2 minutes and 38 seconds into this video there is a side pane on the left with some words. This is the quote from that side pane on the left: "The failure of the Iraqi government clouds things. They're on vacation while our military people fight." What I can infer, on behalf of Bill Oreilly's show/affiliates, is that it's o.k. for our president to go on those many many vacations while our military is fighting, but it's not o.k. when other administrations do it. Hypocrite.
