Kucinich, Others, Accuse Kashkari of Bailout "Bait and Switch"
sahara
by sahara  11-14-2008    1
“I think it’s fairly obvious that Congress would have never passed the had it known how Treasury would marshal the resources it was given.” Kucinich’s battle with Kashkari went as follows, according to a Washington Post blog report. “I assure you the secretary is passionate about this,” Kashkari said. “Passionate about what?” Kucinich said. “About helping homeowners,” Kashkari replied. “Where?” Kucinich asked, sarcastically. “What country?” “We are using all the tools available to ease the credit crises,” Kashkari said. “Let me give you an example…” Kucinich interrupted Kashkari and continued his harangue. “Maybe this is a game to some people in the administration. They’re on their way out of office and they can do whatever they want,” said Kucinich who tried to launch impeachment proceedings against Bush. “Meanwhile, people are hoping against hope” for help with their mortgages.

Fiat Empire - Why the Federal Reserve Violates the U.S. Constitution [59 min ver.]

Go to http://fiatempire.com for more. Now, I'm no Ron Paul fan, and he's featured prominently in this video. While I disagree strongly with him on lots of issues, I think on the subject of the Federal Reserve is spot on. See also: - In Debt We Trust - Money As Debt - Zeitgeist: The Federal Reserve

American Policy Elites Do Not Care About the Starving
brightlight4
by brightlight4  11-12-2008
World food prices grew 22% from June 2007 to June 2008 and a significant portion of the increase was propelled by the $175 billion invested in commodity futures that speculate on price instead of seeking to feed the hungry. The result is wild food price spirals, both up and down, with food insecurity remaining widespread. For a family on the bottom rung of poverty a small price increase is the difference between life and death, yet neither US presidential candidate has declared a war on starvation. Instead both candidates talk about national security and the continuation of the war on terror as if this were the primary election issue. Given that ten times as many innocent people died on 9/11/01 than those in the World Trade centers, where is the Manhattan project for global hunger? Where is the commitment to national security though unilateral starvation relief? Where is the outrage in the corporate media with pictures of dying children and an analysis of who benefits from hunger?

O-Mighty One Unhappy With His Encounter With Joe ~ Mark Steyn
merrie
by merrie  10-20-2008    3
O-Man smoothly reassured him: “It’s not that I want to punish your success,” he told the bloated plutocrat corporate toilet executive. “I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance for success too. I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.” In that sentence about you spreading the wealth around, there’s another typing error: that “you” should read “I, Barack.” “You” will have no say in it. Joe the Plumber might think he himself can spread it around just fine, but everyone knows “trickle-down economics” don’t work. So President-presumptive Obama kindly explained the new exquisitely condescending “talking-down economics." Evidently the O-Mighty One was not happy after his encounter with Joe. He’s still willing to talk to Ahmadinejad without preconditions. But never again will he talk to Joe the Plumber without preconditions.

Obama Censorship Squad Hits Pittsburgh’s KDKA
merrie
by merrie  10-20-2008    2
KDKA-AM 1020 host Kevin Miller was silenced when executive producer P.J. Kumanchik read a CBS statement accusing Miller of being unfairly biased against Obama. “We want to apologize to listeners who have found your show offensive,” Kumanchik said to Miller on the air. In the interview with Corsi, Miller revealed his personal concerns about efforts to silence Obama critics. “Well Dr. Corsi, what scares me is, we’ve seen this from the Obama campaign, that they clearly target people such as yourself, talk radio stations - whether it’s WGN or others or people like myself - that speak out,” he said. “And if elected, we’re going to have a different chorus when it comes to discourse in this country.”

Republican Voter Fraud Hoax
spirithiker
by spirithiker  10-14-2008    12
An old Republican scam, never been carried out with more zeal than this year. The only actual crime here is that Acorn managed to register some 1.3m low-income (read: Democratic-leaning) voters over the past two years. The rest is, pretty much, just made up. But in the bloody and desperate trenches of the Republican war on democracy, that's more than enough to kick in a last minute surge of lies that may - with the help of a compliant and lazy corporate US media - wreak enough havoc, scare enough voters, confuse enough people and plant enough seeds to call an Obama victory into doubt on November 4. f you can't win it, steal it. If you can't steal it, claim the other guy stole it. Same old worn-out Republican strategy. Read the rest of the article to learn how ACORN verifies the legitimacy of every registration. The result: exactly ZERO FRAUDULENT VOTES.

From "War on Terror" to "War of Terror"
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-12-2008    1
This war in Afghanistan's not about avenging the 9-11 attacks or preventing new ones. It's about killing local fighters, who fight to rid Afghanistan of unwelcome foreigners from Christian-majority countries. What began as a "War on Terror" has long since become a War of Terror. The Canadians and Europeans have long since tired of it. So have the American people, despite the failure of the corporate media to expose the Big Lies that Cheney and Bush continue to promote in order to justify their Terror War. Seven years down the road, there's no end in sight. No hope except for the "fool's hope" that public opinion in the imperialist countries, plus the inevitable resistance of the Afghans to foreign control, plus the military judgement that the war is not winnable will bring this "good war" to an end. The whole article is worth reading. Clip Song

Media's Double Standard
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  10-11-2008
I've noticed that the mainstream media still handles McCain with kid gloves. I wonder why that is...? OK, he was a POW, captured by an "enemy" of our government. But why should that give him a one-upmanship over Obama... as far as fair reporting is concerned? Maybe corporate media has more to gain under republican rule or maybe it's just that they fear a McCain attack because they've taken note of how McMean and his Cold-Hearted-VP pick's, mean-spirited, hateful innuendoes launched against Obama have stirred the "Republican base of loathing", to get "physical" with any contrived foe. I believe it's both but they've got the case of the willies when it comes to the ornery right-wing mentality, knowing they might band together and threaten not to buy the goods their sponsors hawk!

The Savagery of a Surge That Failed
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  10-11-2008    1
He didn't scream. Instead, the sight induced a sort of catatonia; he picked up the head, cradled it in his arms, and started walking aimlessly. He carried on like this for days, until tribal elders pried the head from his hands and convinced him to deal with his loss more constructively. He decided he would get revenge by becoming a suicide bomber and inflicting a loss on some American family as painful as the one he had just suffered. The Taliban are as uninterested in social services and human rights as the Karzai government or the international forces, but they know how to turn a world of poverty, insecurity, and death from laser-guided missiles to their advantage. Washington spends about $100 million a day on this war - close to $36 billion a year - but only five cents of every dollar goes towards aid. From this paltry sum, "a staggering 40% has returned to donor countries in corporate profits and salaries".

But it's just another AYERS-ING attempt by the right-wing. I sure hope this Rovian tactic fails. Flopping so hard that a lead balloon will seem flimsy. Driving even more democrats, thinking republicans and independents to the polls to vote for Obama. If the dirty tricks still win, kiss your American arse goodbye, there is no hope for us or US.

Props, gossip, accusations, and public relations. It is impression management from a candidates’ perspective. How can we fool the most people into believing that we stand for something? It is billions of dollars of gravy for the media folks and continued profit maximization for the war machine, Wall Street, and insurance companies, no matter who is determined the winner in November.

America Needs a Shadow Government
paleblue
by paleblue  9-19-2008
Good Article -- please take some time to read it.. There is already a shadow Govt. in place -- if you remember directly after 9/11 it was mentioned on several corporate media outlets then dropped the following day and never discussed by any press or talk shows! I believe it resides underground in Mount Weather -- has its own president and govt.. We are being suckered for our funds people while the elite do whatever they want! Then when things hit the fan they have the option of just going to one of their homes in another country while we're stuck here to suffer from their deeds!
