POPSTen Years of 'Change' in the UK
Tony, confines himself to doing only a modest amount of harm. I ended up being almost grateful to Tony Blair. Given that he was leader of the Mother of All Champagne Socialist Parties he actually behaved with more wisdom than might have been predicted. And I even came to quite like the guy. he thing I still do not go along with though is why all the vitriol towards George Bush? Sure, back in 2000, I too was seduced like all the rest of the European public by a relentless media derision-fest at his expense. Once I had managed to step aside from all this however and to make up my own mind about him , the mythical, ignorant cowboy moron turned out, to my eyes at least, to be quite a decent, genuine and plain-speaking guy. I would have him any day in preference to the average mealy-mouthed, craven British politician. The kind whose words weave an elaborate linguistic dance choreographed to say absolutely nothing at all, so running scared are they of our great, overpaid TV star politic

POPSRussians with pumpkins protest many U.S. plots Conspiracy theorist run amok. Claiming the U.S. is responsible for WW1 and WW2 so that the American economy could overtake Europe's economy. Farfetched? Likely. Carried out Sept 11 attacks to broaden government powers and planned to brand every person on the planet with the "mark of the beast," as referenced in the Bible. Farfetched? Probably, but not out of the realm of possibility. I agree the U.S. is over-zealous in pushing its idea of democracy onto everyone else. And the cowboy-like demeanor of the Bush/Cheney neocons point to visions of world dominance, but they don't speak for all of us. What we need to take away from this report is that American arrogance needs to be curtailed. We don't want to live an "us vs them" existence. Hopefully the new incoming administration can repair the damage that foreign relations have suffered these past several years.

POPSWhatever it takes to win! Democrats are gearing up for whatever happens on Election Day. Should Obama win, champagne will flow, McCain will make a concession speech, and all will be well with the world. But should Obama lose, McCain will pop the cork, and Lawsuits will fly into courthouses across the land.

POPSMcCain Raises Fear of Nuclear Shootout with Russia
In 1962 was "The Cuban Missile Crisis," when President John Kenney got on TV and publicly announced that if the Russian used any one single one of their nuclear missiles in Cuba that the United States would launch a full-scale nuclear attack against the Soviet Union. McCain was there. Apparently he would like to be there again, an assigned target, on the deck of his aircraft carrier, go to go. Do we really want this flyboy in office!? Another old John Wayne cowboy acting out his wet dreams in public!? It's scary. People in the States in 62 freaked out. They woke up everyday wondering if this was going to be the day the world would end, had we got to the point of nuclear annihilation at last. Funny enough (ha ha) the USA (and now Europe) are in a similar missile bases crisis. The USA is building a missile base in Poland, on the Russia border. Russia has said: "Remove those missiles or we will attack." (yes...yes they have). Now...do you want McCain or Obama in charge a

POPSSarah sad statement about 'Merika--Matt Taibbi Sarah Palin is a symbol of everything that is wrong with the modern United States. As a representative of our political system, she's a new low in reptilian villainy, the ultimate cynical masterwork of puppeteers like Karl Rove. But more than that, she is a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power. Not only is Sarah Palin a fraud, she's the tawdriest, most half-assed fraud imaginable, 20 floors below the lowest common denominator, a character too dumb even for daytime TV -and this country is going to eat her up, cheering her every step of the way. All because most Americans no longer have the energy to do anything but lie back and allow ourselves to be jacked off by the calculating thieves who run this grasping consumer paradise we call a nation.

POPSA White Guy Reflects on White Anti-Intellectualism What else but a deep contempt for education (or book learnin' as we sometimes jokingly refer to it in the South) could explain why Barack Obama's Harvard Law School education can be mocked as elitist and out of touch, while John McCain's bottom-feeder academic record and Sarah Palin's four colleges in six years and degree from the University of Idaho, makes them ready to lead, and more like "normal people?" (And please, don't tell me how it isn't his education that poses the problem, but rather his comments about rural folks clinging to God and guns when times are tight, since a week after he made that comment, Dick Cheney implied that West Virginians were all a bunch of inbreds, and rural whites didn't seem to care, since at least he isn't an uppity black guy).

POPS22 nations unanimously prefer Obama They don't make our decisions for us, but what does it say about how hopeless the whole world feels about the Bush/McCain outlook? Here's a chance to turn the page and end this self-defeating arrogance of unilateralism.
