POPSEconomy takes its toll on Hollywood I wondered when this would happen. I can't remember the last movie I saw in a movie theater. I, personally, do not like slice & dice, steamy sex, foul and vulgar language, and I don't want to pay $$ to become depressed. I hope Hollywood isn't up for a "bailout".

POPSTwo doctors in Saudi Arabia want to change cultural attitudes to female genital mutilation In Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and Mali, for example, more than 80% of women have undergone FGM. Typically, the procedure is carried out by a Daya (an elderly female birth attendant) when a baby girl is a few days old, but it can be done at any time during childhood, adolescence, before marriage or during a first pregnancy. The scope of the operation – which is often carried out in non-sterile conditions using household implements – can vary considerably from removing the clitoris to cutting away all of the woman's external genitalia before stitching the wound back together leaving only a tiny hole for menstruation and urination." yes it still exists.

POPSIsraeli Blockade Creates Food Shortages in Gaza
Collective punishment. War crime. 1.4 million peope & refuges being slowly starved to death in front of the eyes of the world. THIS IS NOT POLITICS. THIS IS NOT WAR. THIS IS GENOCIDE. Unfortuntely almost all USA politicians have sold out to the policies of Israel. Starving a million and a half people to death is okay but criticizing the Jewish State is not. Sold out, by the way, for a worse deal that Judas' 30 shekels of silver; they get maybe $100K and vote for Israel getting billions. They also get re-elected which, apparently they feel they achieve without the support of Jewish lobbies, like AIPAC, American Enterprise Institute and dozens of others. Why can we do? Maybe try to get the case to the World Court? -- But the U.S. would certainly veto it. (as with so many other attempts to bring justice to Israel's war crimes). Maybe churches? But many also think you can't criticize Israel; bizarre. It helps see why Pontius Pilate could only wash his hands of t

POPSTen Years of 'Change' in the UK
Tony, confines himself to doing only a modest amount of harm. I ended up being almost grateful to Tony Blair. Given that he was leader of the Mother of All Champagne Socialist Parties he actually behaved with more wisdom than might have been predicted. And I even came to quite like the guy. he thing I still do not go along with though is why all the vitriol towards George Bush? Sure, back in 2000, I too was seduced like all the rest of the European public by a relentless media derision-fest at his expense. Once I had managed to step aside from all this however and to make up my own mind about him , the mythical, ignorant cowboy moron turned out, to my eyes at least, to be quite a decent, genuine and plain-speaking guy. I would have him any day in preference to the average mealy-mouthed, craven British politician. The kind whose words weave an elaborate linguistic dance choreographed to say absolutely nothing at all, so running scared are they of our great, overpaid TV star politic

POPSChina Tells Rich Polluting Nations To Change Lifestyle China wants technology aid to feature in that pact, which negotiators hope to seal in Copenhagen late next year. Climate officials gathered in Beijing welcomed China's growing activism on the issue but questioned its proposal, especially with an economic downturn draining coffers. "It is undeniable that the financial crisis will have an impact on the climate change negotiations," said Yvo de Boer, who heads the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat. "If we go to citizens under the current circumstances ... and say 'I'm increasing your tax burden in order to pay for climate policy', that might not go down very well," he told Reuters. But Beijing will wait to see what U.S. President-elect Barack Obama offers in greenhouse gas goals and aid before showing more of its own bargaining cards, said Hedegaard. POPSBarney Frank: A Democrat's Irresponsible And Impossible Plan ~ ~ ~ ~to cut the defense budget by 25 percent~ ~ ~ ~ Research and Development (R&D); and Operations & Maintenance (O&M). MILPERS includes all funds used to pay the troops, provide subsistence for their dependents, their pensions and retirement pay, and their medical expenses (housing is paid out of a separate but relatively small account). Procurement is money spent to buy equipment--everything from rifles to aircraft carriers, including money spent to upgrade existing weapon systems. R&D is money spent to develop the next generation of weapon systems, to ensure that the U.S. maintains a technological edge over our adversaries. Finally, O&M is the money used for training, to buy fuel and food and other consumables, to fix broken equipment, and to sustain forces in the field.

U.S. MARINES ~ THE FEW ~ THE PROUD ~ Semper Fi ~ “America needs you now more than ever.
