POPSIs twitter boring you? @davewiner says yes. I've been hearing this quite often lately, so figured i'd clip @davewiner's tweet and ask if others are feeling the same way. personally, i have always found twitter to be a volatile blend of boring and rewarding. my biggest disappointment with twitter is that it's not tapping into people's innate desire to give, but is instead being positioned and treated as a massive "look at me" platform. i think this stems from management's decision to put the focus on a bunch of boring, attention seeking celebrities in their recommended list. that damaged the vibe of the site and overall user experience.

POPS@davewiner calls out journalists for "not doing the job they say they do" For many years, many have blamed the media for not pushing harder to give citizens of the world a clearer, more in depth look at what's happening - particularly in washington. It is has been said that they have shy'd away from asking the very hard questions and have allowed politicians and corporations to get away with answers that didn't really answer anything. I think Dave Winer makes an important point that perhaps if jounalists did a better job distinguishing themselves and making themselves more necessary, people would feel more reliant on them.

POPS@davewiner gets it wrong on retweeting and ignores clipmarks First of all, a retweet is absolutely not the same as voting something up on Digg or Reddit. Retweeting causes something to immediately jump to the top of the feed for any user following the person who does the retweet. Digg and Reddit most certainly do not work this way. Second, this is exactly what popping a clip on clipmarks.com does...but not surprisingly, this was not mentioned. I really can't help but wonder why clipmarks.com is so often overlooked by the media as they jerk off about so-called new functionality from twitter, friendfeed and facebook. There's no doubt that those three sites have far surpassed clipmarks in regards to size. But so damn many of their features are things clipmarks introduced years ago. Another example of this is the real time FriendFeed that @scobleizer is so wowed by...clipmarks has worked that way for years, yet he acts like this is revolutionary. I don't get it.

POPS@davewiner on new vs. old baseball stadiums I love this line: "whether the Catholic Church would tear down the Vatican just to get some skyboxes." I'm a life long Yankees fan, but for some reason, i just don't much interest in the new stadium. Perhaps it's because the Steinbrenner sons often make me embarrassed to be a yankee fan, so some little part of me doesn't like supporting them. There really is nothing like tradition and nostalgia in sports - by moving to a new stadium, the feeling of being part of the past that you get when you're at Fenway is gone for now from Yankee stadium.
