POPSOn Defeatism political (conservative) not military, but thinking of empire is this spot on or what? Bush as Bin Looney?

POPSAttraction, strength and self humor the article is more elaborate. but it points towards self humor as an attractive trait but only if backed up by achievements. this too is a matter of emotional and otherwise affordability.

POPS The 'Surrender And Defeat' Party's Quagmire When it became apparent in August that Lt. Gen. David Petraeus would have good news for Congress, House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina warned darkly such news would be “a real problem for us.” The Party of Surrender is floundering. Yes, it is time to talk of “quagmire.” But the quagmire is not the artificial one in Iraq, which the media and the Left had hoped would doom George W. Bush. This is a quagmire of the Democrats own making. It is a quagmire of defeatism and surrender, where a common-sense approach to our national security has been replaced by partisan measures aimed to enrich trial lawyers and endanger Americans. And it is a quagmire in which the Democrats are now stuck.

POPSThe Biggest Threat to the West Lies Within Itself, Not with Islam Simon Jenkins on threats to peace and democracy. This defeatism led the American Congress to allow its president to authorise torture and detention without trial in what Senator Robert Byrd called “the slow unravelling of the people’s liberties”. It enabled a British Home Office to curb free speech and habeas corpus. It arms police, fortifies buildings and impedes the free movement of citizens. It makes every Christian suspicious of every Muslim.

POPSThe system worked! We The People..... Great news! Actually, I was getting so stressed over this, I was near tossing in the towel and trying to enjoy every moment left in my life. This has changed my spirits.....so back to the phone calls & petition signing, and letters to politicians. (with some breaks to laugh & enjoy nature)

POPSDefestism Defeated Apparently, even the MSM is beginning to report that progress is actually being made in Iraq and it's all not bad news.

POPSWhat We Pre-Empted So much too clip....so little space. Please read the complete article; these snips do not do it justice. It is well worth your time.

POPSThe New York Times: demanding American withdrawal from Iraq You just can't make this stuff up. But the New York Times is one of the leading propaganda outlets for looney leftyworld, artfully placing the DNC's talking points in a glowing and positive light. Who cares if there are no facts to back it up? Leftists don't bother with annoying facts, they deal with victimhood and FEELINGS.

POPSDemocrats Follow Bush's Lead I don't intend my comments as an endorsement of President Bush or much of his agenda. That said, I find it interesting that over the past six years, many Democrats will echo the thoughts of GW after having vilified him for espousing such views months or years earlier. Remember their outrage when Bush and members of his administration spoke of 'Old Europe'? I guess it is only an example of imperialist unilateralism when spoken by evil Republicans.

POPSA Legitimate National Debate "Some conservatives shared that view at the time and even more do now, most prominently William F. Buckley and George Will. If you are vocal, or literary, on behalf of this sensibility, you are eligible to receive disagreement but not disrespect." "The same holds true if you maintain the war was a great idea at the time, the best available choice in the circumstances, but the resultant bog offers no benefit for our lingering. Here again you can make a case that proceeds from the premise that people of good will proceeded with good intentions to undertake an effort in good faith but deduces that fate did not produce a good result. Nothing undermining about saying we made a good investment but the company flopped and it is time to cut our losses. This is the language good people use when they participate in constructive debate."

POPSWorst Analogy Ever? I don't care which side of the debate you're on. Read the citation and you can only assume Mr. Olbermann is arguing against withdrawal until the last two sentences. It does not fit in with his rant in any way. Talk about reinforcing the stereotype of empty talking heads..

POPSRom Paul, his time has come!! I received this comment on my thinkingblue.blogspot.com post about Ron Paul. http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com/2007/05/ron-paul-will-bring-sanity-back-to.html There is hope, although small, that we can take back our America at the grassroots level. Get involved, if $7.00 a month is all it takes, let's give it a try. I can afford $7.00 a month for America to become AMERICA once again, can you?

POPSVietnam & Iraq "We were learning in our school today All about a country far away, Full of lovely temples painted gold, Modern cities, jungles ages old. And the people are so pretty there, Shining smiles, and shiny eyes and hair . . . Then I had to ask my teacher why War was making all those people die. They’re so pretty, so pretty. Then my teacher said, and took my hand, “They must die for peace, you understand.” But they’re so pretty, so pretty. I don’t understand." "This is exactly the mentality I was brought up with, concerning Vietnam. It took a while to discover the truth: I guess I was in my late teens. I was also well familiar with a famous poster: 'War Is Dangerous for Children and Other Living Things.' Uh-huh: It turned out that the longed-for Communist “peace” was far more dangerous to children and other living things. Which, by the way, was more dangerous for Anne Frank? War or 'peace'?"

POPSSign the Petition - We Win, They Lose I know, too late to impact this past week's votes, but don't think the Defeatocrats will stop here. Sign the petition to give them pause as they scheme further attacks on the war in Iraq.
