If the supreme power lowered the prices isn't it likely that the same power is responsible for the rise in the 1st place. Could this be a cheap tactic by our Deity to get more prayers?

Why Too Much Praying Is A Bad idea
Jorjor
by Jorjor  8-11-2008    6
It seems to me that a lot of praying, instead of achieving its intended purpose of praise and glorification instead reduces a deity to a petty servant. Internet evangelist Stuart Shepard issued a call to pray that Barack Obama's planned speech in a stadium in Denver gets rained out. That goes beyond petty into the realm of the ridiculous and juvenile.

Seven Wonders Of The World
merrie
by merrie  7-31-2008
The list of manmade wonders was first compiled by a Hellenistic traveler in the second century B.C Of these, only the pyramids at El Gizeh remain. In ancient times, the pyramids of Egypt; the Hanging Gardens of Babylon; Phidias's statue of Zeus at Olympia; the temple of Artemis at Ephesus; the tomb, or mausoleum, of King Mausolus at Halicarnassus; the Colossus of Rhodes; and either the Pharos, or lighthouse, at Alexandria or the walls of Babylon. http://www.answers.com/topic/seven-wonders-of-the-world

The Mythic History of the Werewolf
revenantdm
by revenantdm  6-28-2008    1
As usual I tend to gravitate my clipping towards the strange, unusual, or just highly weird. The Graeco-Roman myths have always been a favorite of mine but there were some facts here I did not even know of. The ways of becoming a werewolf, yes... but that at least TWO of the most important gods of the ancient Greeks were worshiped as Wolf-Gods was new to me.

Islam: A Cover for Crimes Against Humanity
RaiseClip
by RaiseClip  5-21-2008    1
Can anyone imagine some cat up there who was actually in charge and appointed this filthy little slob to be his overseer of the underlings, making sure they all please this psychotic deity? Uhhhmm, me neither. So, sanctioned by this jackass of a god, this bastard rapes and kills for a living. Just another, in the long list of examples of why religion is the worse idea in the history of humanity. Call superman what you like, Allah, Yahweh, Jesus, Yehovah, Whatevah ... just call any of these names and your criminal psychosis becomes licensed.

Rev. Wright speks truth--Obama quibbles
papananook
by papananook  4-30-2008    1
But as for saying "God damn America" — he wasn't calling on the deity to zap us. What he was saying was that should be our frustrated attitude when our government does horrible things. Think about it; I have known military officers totally dedicated to the service who, confronted by its absurdities, say things like "God damn this army." I know a man who loves Wayne State who, thanks to its bureaucracy, regularly says, "Fuck Wayne State." So then, what about a guy who says: "America is the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today. was founded on genocide and a nation that is founded on genocide is destructive." Guess what. I can answer that one. We turn him into a saint, and make him a national hero. By the way, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright didn't say those words. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. did.

Student Drawing of Cross censored in Wisconsin School
Eaglewings
by Eaglewings  4-3-2008    2
Art should be judged for its artistic merit not its content if you ask me. I think the drawing is very well done. Not being an artist myself I appreciate those who have that ability. Forcing a student to draw subjects that may not be acceptable to them to me is a far worse offense then the student drawing a picture that MAY or may not offend someone else. Art like music is a creation of the artist and should therefore be considered in light of the artists perspective and not from the perspective of the audience. At least that is what the defenders of porn use as a defense when promoting pornography and other offensive works of art. They say it is CREATIVE LICENSE. Well then this young person has the creative license as well. IMO

Easter Not a Christian Holiday
blueridge
by blueridge  3-20-2008
Like Christmas, it is "christianized" paganism. Why do modern Christians say "happy Easter", and glorify a pagan deity? Because of their mass indoctrination by corrupt churches, and family "traditions", imitated blindly. It is another merchandisers holiday, very lucrative, both by consumer products companies and corporate churches.
