POPSCheney Aide getting Global Warming Portfolio at Energy? "The result: One of the most ardent opponents of government regulation within the government would be put in a key decision-making position where global warming policies are set. Said Jason K. Burnett, who as a deputy associate administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency tangled with Hutto over global warming until leaving the government: "I can't think of a case where Chase advocated more environmental or health protections." As for placing Hutto in the Energy Department at this late date, the Post, quoting Francesca Grifo of the Union of Concerned Scientists, notes: "In coming months, Hutto could make policy decisions that the next administration would find difficult to reverse quickly.""

POPSPelosi confronted at book signing Madam Speaker was so flustered by our efforts that she barely made a cogent remark for her whole "Know Your Power" talk. Our peaceful action had impact. The truth is a powerful tool. But if only our actions weren't necessary. If only, as Jodie Evans suggested, Madam Speaker would do her job! Saddest of all is the contrast of who Pelosi once was to who she his now. For a woman who was once at the cutting edge of social progressivism, Nancy Pelosi has lost her way. She has strayed from her former social consciousness into the malaise of power. A sorry state for a woman who 32 years ago was a pivotal player in the 1976 Presidential campaign of radically progressive California Governor, Jerry Brown.

POPSPat Buchanan:'Georgia Started This Fight, Russia Finished It' Pat Buchanan has it right! Conservatives and republicans in particular should note what he says, instead of Bush. Georgia started this fight -- Russia finished it. Contrary to Bush, McCain, and yes Obama and the parroting MSM, Georgia was the aggressor. Georgia attacked and invaded first, and Russia responded to roll their aggression back. Read the article, he also shows the hypocrisy of Bush's condemnation and propaganda, as even the Democrats follow his false official story again. He also mentions the neocons are behind this agenda against Russia. (Buchanan vindicates my clipmarks on this subject precisely as I commented). Time to wake everyone up to this before the anti-Russia campaign foments more wars.

POPSDems Parroting Russian Propaganda Robert Scheer... Is it possible that this time the October surprise was tried in August, and that the garbage issue of brave little Georgia struggling for its survival from the grasp of the Russian bear was stoked to influence the U.S. presidential election?

POPSPutin's war enablers: Bush and Cheney And BTW, this is not "Blame America First" (which would mean Bush/Cheney are America? Yikes!) but putting the blame where it belongs. Exceeding his political priorities and invading a weaker neighbor, Putin. Enabling him, Bush/Cheney.

POPSGW Bush is the Fruit of Liberalism " I must admit that the colossal and explosive growth of the federal government under Bush has surprised me. But I can't deny its logic, given the legacy of liberalism. What surprises me more painfully is that Bush has done all of this with so little protest or resistance from conservatives who should know better."

POPSCIA Official: Cheney Likely Ordered Forged Letter to Saddam This was intended to link Iraq to 9/11. This vindicates my statement about the White House denial and that it was likely Cheney who considers himself "not a part of the Executive branch", but it was drafted on White House letterhead. We now have DOCUMENTED PROOF of a conspiracy to lie and fabricate evidence for war with Iraq! --all likely headed by Dick Cheney, chief of the neoconservative Fifth Column that hijacked the government by using 9/11 as their pretext for everything. For Cheney to use White House letterhead to order a forged letter from the CIA is also a blatant usurpation of power , making use of power that is not his ("not part of Executive branch"). Did Bush know or did Cheney act alone?

POPSObama In Knots Over Cheney ----a vote that could be viewed as endearing if he hadn't more recently flipped on it as well. And as the Hot Air link provided by the inestimable Jim Geraghty at Campaign Spot notes, Obama explained in a Las Vegas TV interview this week that his vote on that bill was motivated by the fact that "this was the largest investment in alternative energy in history." So which is it Senator? Is Obama's complaint about the NEPDG merely grousing about process (a process complaint that led to wasteful federal litigation in which the Vice President ultimately prevailed)? Or is Obama-wan Kenobi playing gutter political games, trying to tar McCain with guilt by association with Cheney? (An association that isn't particularly supported by the record and with which, by the way, I would be more than happy to be "tarred.") Either way, it doesn't jibe with his "the One" narrative.

POPSRevoke EPA’s Licenses to Pollute Behind the veil of “clean skies,” however, smog and soot and very small toxic particulate matter are still pouring out of the pipes of cars, trucks, the containerized shipping industry that drives global commerce, airplanes, incinerators, large farms and factories. These microscopic particles cause inflammation and injury to the lungs and the blood, killing thousands and condemning many more to life with asthma. Runoff from agribusiness, industry and suburban trophy lawns still flows through our (non-burning) rivers, creating dead zones off our shores and sickening swimmers on our beaches. This is happening because industries have become experts at delaying and manipulating the work of EPA through political pressure and legal tactics. And EPA analysts cut and paste corporate-generated studies and analysis into their findings. As a result, the EPA often acts as if it were protecting the earnings of regulated industries rather than the public’s health.

POPSDNC Launches TheNextCheney.com Republican National Committee spokesman Alex Conant said that instead of debating the energy crisis, Democrats are "obsessing over hypothetical political match-ups." "The DNC is having fun with Washington parlor games, but the rest of the nation is debating the merits of McCain's 'all-of-the-above' energy plan versus Obama's 'inflate-your-tires' approach," Conant said.

POPSForged Letter to Saddam Used to Justify Iraq War The White House denies THEY controlled this. But. 1. They do not deny there was a forged letter, if you read closely, to link Saddam to 9/11 falsely. 2. Dick Cheney (lead neocon in making the case for war, and member of the Project for New American Century blueprint for regime change in Iraq written in Sept. 2000) even admits he is not part of the Executive Branch . So the White House officially did not control this, but Cheney (who was "visiting the CIA daily", it was reported) and the neocons in the Office of Special Plans did this. Again, 9/11 was centrally used to claim to justify war with Iraq where even per Bush "Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11", yet this was the link they established to the public. 9/11 was a Neo-Con job, and this demonstrates further how they used it.

POPS"Put a Kibosh to this Insane Plan" Ominously, these “ideas” hark back to Operation Northwoods, the JSC plan to stage a false flag terror event — or a number of events — designed to provide a pretext to invade Cuba and take out Fidel Castro. Such “ideas” included “friendly Cubans” attacking the U.S. base at Guantanamo, shooting down a drone disguised as a chartered civil airliner and blaming it on Cuba, inciting riots and staging terror attacks in Miami, and other terrorist acts. Fortunately, then Secretary of Defense, Robert McNamara, put a kibosh to this insane plan. More recently, in January, 2003, in the lead-up to the Iraq invasion George Bush and Tony Blair discussed painting planes in United Nations colors “in order to provoke an attack which could then be used to justify material breach” and thus set in motion an invasion, according to Philippe Sands, a leading British human rights lawyer.

POPSinteractive guide: Who in the Bush administration broke the law, and who could be prosecuted
Each scandal is represented by a colored circle that encompasses the people who are implicated. As it's easy to see, many of the players here are mixed up in two, three, or more of the alleged crimes. Hence all the overlapping circles (Venn-diagram heaven!). The best way to make sense of this legal tangle is to mouse over the title of an individual scandal, which will highlight everyone implicated. For example, the wiretapping bubble ensnares George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, David Addington, John Ashcroft, John Yoo, and Alberto Gonzales. At the same time, Ashcroft and Gonzales fall into the overlapping circle for monkey business related to DoJ hiring. Mouse over a person's name for information on how each person is involved. Mouse over the title of each circle for specifics about the particular scandal. And if all else fails, fall back on this golden rule of wrongdoing in the White House: All roads lead to Gonzales.

POPSAnother Terrorist Kangaroo Trial With alot at Stake So the government caught bin Laden's driver, we are told to believe, but yet they lost bin Laden? Right! It's all a lie and another show trial for a fictitious account to justify a fake war for regime changes. It is not only Mr Hamdan's future that will be determined by the trial. There is great concern among members of the Bush administration that they too could find themselves before foreign or international courts for the role they played in facilitating and encouraging the torture of detainees. The infamous "torture memos" circulated by Vice-President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Charles Addington, and two former administration figures, Douglas Feith and Alberto Gonzales, covertly approved the abuse of prisoners by the CIA. These men were publicly warned recently by Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of staff to Colin Powell when Mr Powell was Secretary of State, to "never travel outside the US

POPSBush, Mukasey, Cheney Claim Exec Privilege, Obstructing in Plame Case But the Executive has no "privilege" to violate the law, nor to obstruct justice. And Cheney, by his own words, is not part of the "executive branch". Mukasey, the new AG replacing Alberto (Speedy) Gonzales, shows why he was chosen by Bush, i.e. to continue to obstruct justice. As even republican federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said on the Plame case, "a cloud hangs over the VP office", and Scott McClellan just opened up and published his account that Bush personally admitted authorizing the Plame leak! This is stonewalling to avoid prosecution for a "high crime" worthy of impeachment by George and Dick both.

POPS3 Myths About Offshore Drilling "Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) claimed "not a drop of oil was spilled during Katrina or Rita." This myth has been told again and again by the likes ofGov. POPSCheney's office corrupts EPA regulations Officials with the White House and Cheney's office requested the removal of "any discussion of the human health consequences of climate change," wrote Burnett, who declined to tell reporters who specifically called for the changes. Burnett's letter also details efforts by the administration to influence the EPA's response to the U.S. Supreme Court's April 2007 decision in the case of Massachusetts vs EPA. The ruling requires the agency determine whether greenhouse gas emissions endanger public health. An "endangerment" finding would require the EPA to take action to regulate and limit greenhouse gas emissions.
