POPSBlackpool not disabled friendly.
The evidence is overwhelming. Carrying on from the woeful Labour regime, this soporific administration has done nothing for the disabled. When the National Servicemen told the Council that the organisation for their disabled members was inadequate, they were attacked. Try getting an 18 stone former regular soldier onto a bur with his wheel chair. As often as not you cannot, because their is a pram already on the bus. The Disabilities Act requires the Transport Authorities to make available disabled spaces. Only Stagecoach in this area enforces the Law and requires young adults to fold away their carriages and sit their children on their laps. I would love to be able to do this with the 18 stone gentleman, but I cannot. All the disabled ask for is their RIGHTS underwritten in Law. Unfortunately, it is not the young parent who is the pariah, but it is usually the elderly who have no conception of what it is like to be imprisoned in a wheel-chair, the problems that carers have

POPSbritain's pakistani's deliberately have disabled kids how's that for a tantalising headline ...i work in this area in Australia and am sick of the deliberate risk that families take, and the burden put upon the community to eventually accommodate the disabled. And it's not cultural, couples take HUGE risks while pregnant with drugs and just smoking cigarettes. So please, think about it!

POPS1-child policy has exceptions after China quake Though commonly called a one-child policy, the rules offer a welter of exceptions and loopholes, some of them put into practice because of widespread opposition to the limits. For example, in large parts of rural China, most families are allowed a second-child, especially if the first was a girl. Local officials often have wide discretion on enforcement, a fact that has made the policy susceptible to corruption. Many Chinese have shown interest in adopting earthquake orphans, and Monday's announcement says there are no limits on the number of earthquake orphans a family can adopt. The adoptions, or even a future birth to a family that adopts an orphan, will not face the limitations of the one-child policy. Officials estimated last week that the quake left about 4,000 orphans, but they warned they would make every effort to connect children with other family members.

POPSW.Va. May Offer Gun Training in Schools Ahhhh...my home state. Interesting to see who is promoting this idea. All my and my husband's family members hunted. Everyone owned shotgun or rifles. Now-a-days it's politically incorrect to hunt or kill anything. And access to hunting areas is very limited and exclusive, I think. This won't catch on, but it's still interesting.

POPSDisabled Czech children still held in cages Martin Zarsky, from the Ministry of Social Affairs, wrote the law banning cage beds. "Based on what I've seen we will establish immediately an inspection team. Sanctions could follow - the most serious being to withhold the care home's licence. "We are trying. It's difficult to put in a comprehensive system of monitoring overnight with independent experts. The new law is only 12 months old. We need time."

POPS Rush's $2 Million Dollar Donation But Nobody Cares "We’ve gotten donations in the million-dollar range before, but this is by far the biggest,” James Kallstrom, chairman and co-founder of the 12-year-old charity, said yesterday in a telephone interview. The foundation has awarded more than $27 million in scholarships to children of slain troops and law enforcement officers, Kallstrom said, as well as support money for disabled veterans and their families.”

POPSLabor and Brough roughed up by carers No policies, just a little handout to shut up the carers and their disabled family members. The situation is the result of a non caring government over the past decade.

POPSHuman Rights Organization Oct 23 07 Santa Cruz City Council will be voting on expansion of the parking lot paranoia law to all public parking lots downtown. The ordinance makes it illegal to be in the lot for more then 15 minutes, 30 if your disabled -- car or not. No reading while wife shops. This law removes rights inherent to the idea of public space. You can still reach them - (831) 420-5020 e-mail: citycouncil@ci.santa-cruz.ca.us tell them to vote no on the 15 minute parking lot ordinance. We don't need new laws. Public nuisance and other such laws cover everything the police need. We shall no longer tolerate such laws targeting land owned by the very people who will get tickets, the public.

POPSMother seeks to have womb of severely disabled daughter, 15, removed http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/10/08/hysterectomy/index.html For the full story. It seems to me that the mother is doing whatever she can to make sure her daughter's life will not be disrupted by a process that she is not likely to understand or even ever use. If the young lady is that severely disabled then she will most likely live at home and never get married or have children, so infringing on her right to reproduce is a moot point.

POPSVaccine Programs for Kids Need a Shot in the Arm Now THIS is a serious issue! Between the new age so-called 'parents' who deny their children the benefits of vaccination based on medical ignorance and the restrictions of the insurance companies, we are rapidly bringing back diseases that we have long forgotten. And it doesn't have to be this way!

POPSWhat does it mean to be pro-life? Having grown up in deep poverty, I promised my unborn children they would not be conceived until their lives were assured to be more economically secure. All my life, I have heard "pro-life" conservatives complain about me and people like me being alive and using welfare *as a child*. What do they want?

POPSPowers of invisibility Humor - Do you play tricks on your children? Are your children disabled? Isn't it a bit mean to play tricks on a disabled child? Haven't you disqualified yourself from the club of parenthood if you do?

POPSA Culture of Passivity A recent news article outlined a group of American tourists in Central America. Their group was confronted by two armed thieves. One of the Americans, a retired military man, went into action. The result? One of the thieves died of a broken neck. The other was disabled with a broken arm, nose and fractured ribs. The host country pressed no charges, allowing that the American was simply defending himself and his companions. The military trains our warriors to think and act. We should train our children likewise. Some legs broken off of tables in classroom wielded by a number of students can make small work of an armed assailant as he enters a room.
