I don't know why I always feel the need to qualify any comments about former President Bush with: I didn't support everything he said or did.... This article is long but excellent. It gives great insight into a reviled and revered President. You can see (in this author's wonderful writing skill), glimpses of a regular human being who grew up. Love him or hate him....I choose to admire him as a person.

Living in the Tea Republic: House GOP May Investigate Bush
zizzy
by zizzy  11-11-2010    1
For a split second, I wondered if Bush is looking for punishment and that's why he's writing and talking: that deep down he does feel guilty or ... no, it's none of that. Bush believes that he is untouchable, sheltered by money and connections, (Daddy has always come to the rescue). The GOP wants to investigate, because Bush the Big Mouth is a liability. I swear, if this was the Mafia they'd rub him out. Even so, will the GOP do what the rudderless Democrats refuse? Will this be real or just a show trial? And who, if anyone, will be swept up in the wake? Watch Chaffetz interview @ clip source.

The War On Terror is a Fraud
JackieDel
by JackieDel  10-15-2010    5
The US government desperately needs real terrorists in order to justify its expansion of its wars against Muslim countries and to keep the American people sufficiently fearful that they continue to accept the police state that provides "security from terrorists," but not from the government that has discarded civil liberties. The US government creates terrorists by invading Muslim countries, wrecking infrastructure and killing vast numbers of civilians. The US also creates terrorists by installing puppet governments to rule over Muslims and by using the puppet governments to murder and persecute citizens as is occurring on a vast scale in Pakistan today.

"THE BUCK STOPS WITH "DUBYA"....
mountainpalm
by mountainpalm  9-10-2010    3
When it comes to the Gulf Coast the President just can’t resist blaming Bush. During the height of the BP oil spill the President was at it again. “For too long, for a decade or more, there has been a cozy relationship between the oil companies and the federal agency that permits them to drill,” said Obama from the White House Rose Garden last May. “It seems as if permits were too often issued based on little more than assurances of safety from the oil companies. That cannot and will not happen anymore." In fact, the Obama administration has a laundry list about the previous President, two wars in the Middle East and an economy that can’t get traction. The way Obama is revving up for the fall elections you would almost think he himself was running against Bush.

Hottest seller at Martha’s Vineyard this year: Bush “Miss Me Yet?” t-shirts

by merrie  8-19-2010    3
Via JWF, a video gloss on the amazing fact that Dubya is now polling six points better than Obama in frontline (i.e. vulnerable) House districts. That’s not according to Rasmussen either; it’s from the Democrats’ own surveys. No wonder the White House is looking around for a new villain: If even the Bushitler seems preferable to swing voters, who’s left to demonize? An earnest question for lefties: Given the state of the Democrats’ polling, can we finally dispense with the insane yet oft-repeated argument during the ObamaCare debate that passing the bill was the surest way to mitigate losses in the midterms? There were two political reasons to pass O-Care, as you’ll recall: (1) Long-term, passage will set the country irreversibly on the path to socialized medicine, which in turn will create a culture of dependency guaranteeing big Democratic victories far into the future; (2) short-term, passage will cheer liberals and inspire them to turn out in November...

Left Wing Media Hacks Beg President Bush to Save Obama’s Butt

by merrie  8-18-2010
“Words I never thought I’d write: I pine for George W. Bush. Whatever his flaws, the man respected religion, all religion.” Wait, since when do left wing nut jobs ever respect religion? Are we talking about the same ideology that wants to ban the term Merry Christmas, take the phrase “In God We Trust” off our currency, etc? Oh wait, they respect Islam as a religion only. http://bit.ly/apYqlH Nancy Pelosi wants to “probe” those in opposition to Ground Zero Mosque Forget finding out where the funding for the Ground Zero Mosque is coming from. Lets investigate those who opposed to the Ground Zero Mosque. You know the 65%-70% of those polled in recent polling date? You know, most of the families who lost loved ones during 9/11? According to Pelosi, they are obviously being paid by some big lobbying firm... because no one would oppose it otherwise. http://bit.ly/amihwy http://www.fireandreamitchell.com Hey, Harry Reid opposes the mosque .. THE RISE OF THE NEW RIGHT-WING
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  6-17-2010
Continued From: http://www.thethinkingblue.com/newrightwing.html (The New Right-wing mantra) "We want the government to step in and destroy certain civil rights (Not our civil rights, just those we deem intolerable like Homosexuals being allowed the right to marry or Gays having the right to serve openly in the military).” What a bunch of naive hypocrites! If they are able to gather enough strength and become powerful, America will once again, in the eyes of the world, become the buffoon it was during the Dubya years. "The Republicans have been pure venom. Theirs was a systematic fearmongering, a nonstop bombardment of misguiding

Quoted: "The Republicans have been pure venom. Theirs was a systematic fearmongering, a nonstop bombardment of misguidings and untruths, an acid bath of panic overlaid with a fine sheen of racism and rage. This is turning out to be easily the nastiest, meanest GOP organization in ages, the house that Karl Rove built, a group shaming their own party's once-noble legacy. And: "Like millions, I was fairly convinced it simply could not get much worse or more acrimonious than when Dubya ran the nation into the ground, embarrassing and humiliating us planetwide a thousand times over as the rogue idiot pseudo-cowboy laughingstock war-hungry prick of the civilized world. I was wrong."

Presidential Seal Missing
kareval
by kareval  2-20-2010    1
Marc Ambinder of the Atlantic magazine was the first to note that Obama would deep-six the seal. “I'm told that Obama recognizes that it was a silly mistake,” Ambinder said. “Does the press think Obama is arrogant? Yes.” Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia's Center for Politics, said the episode reinforces this media perception of Obama. “The press corps adopts a subtext for each candidate,” Sabato told The Examiner. “Daddy Bush was 'a nice guy but out of touch.' Bill Clinton was 'smart but randy.' Bob Dole was 'heroic but too old.' Gore was 'brilliant but a fibber and a bore.' Dubya was 'pleasant but dumb.'” He added: “Obama's subtext is rapidly becoming 'charismatic but arrogant.'” The Obama campaign declined to comment.

The Decade From HELL
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  1-4-2010    1
Mark Morford’s New Year's column speaks for many of us. I would even say it speaks for ¾’s of us... but too many, don’t vote. That’s why we had to endure the Reagan Years, Daddy Bush Years and Dubya’s years of HELL. I believe most Americans are Liberal and if they voted America would be in a different position, one of tolerance and peace. If all Liberals voted, incomes would be categorized as LIVING WAGES. Our health care system wouldn’t be gouging, excluding and bankrupting us while those in charge of who gets what, when it come to medical care, get richer. Reckless wars would not happen. 911 wouldn’t have occurred. There’d be no executions because Capital Punishment would be null. No homelessness, no hunger, and best of all no Beck or Limbaugh because their agenda of hate would not be tolerated. But alas, that America does not prevail. Let’s hope the next decade will bring the kind of world, we long for, we who EMPATHIZE and THINK. It can happen, IF YOU WOULD ONLY VOTE!

The Obama Escalation, Too Sad To Watch.

When I saw President Obama give his speech last night on why he is sending more to die in this Godforsaken Bush/Cheney war in Afghanistan. I felt like I was Yogi Berrer uttering, "This is like deja vu all over again."... But this time is wasn’t War Monger Dubya speaking, it was the "Change You Can Believe In” and the, “Every time I speak about my hope for America, the cynics in Washington roll their eyes.”, Barack Obama. The man who once asked before his election, “I ask you to believe-not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington. I'm asking you to believe in yours.” ... YEAH RIGHT Mr. President, and may I ask… “WHAT HAPPENED TO DIPLOMACY TO END THIS WAR? I now realize that was never really in the cards was it?” I believe, Our President wants us to brace ourselves for this war in Afghanistan becoming another Vietnam! thinkingblue “You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake.” - Jeannette Rankin Also - http://www.thethinkingblue.com/escalate.html

Don't know what they're asking for

Medicare is the single most popular government program, hands down. It runs effectively and efficiently (at least until Dubya messed with it). All this nonsense about the government not being able to run anything properly is nothing but a desperate lie from the people who are gouging you out of your hard earned money to support their extravagant lifestyles. Multiple houses? Gold plated cuttlery? More vehicles than people in the household? Personal Jets? These are just some of the things your healthcare dollars are being spent on, rather than on your healthcare. And you don't benefit from them at all. And to make things worse, there's a good chance that when you do file a claim for needed healthcare, your insurance company will deny your claim, or even cancel your coverage! American doesn't need Healthcare Reform? Bullshit!!

I remember saying to myself back in 2000 that if there was anything positive that could come out of Dubya being president was that they would finally push things too far and the country would turn against them. Remember young Americans: when you think "Republicans", think Iraq, Katrina, massive corporate greed, the Patriot Act, the TSA, and Econopocalypse.

Interesting how these anti-tax protesters were sitting on their asses, smiling like idiots as Dubya spent just as much money, and was driving the debt up even faster by giving tax cuts only to the richest 1% of the population, effectively increasing the typical citizen's tax burden even greater. I declare them all hypocrites in the first degree.

Funny how all the right-wing pundits and cartoonists are tilting at this "massive debt/massive budget" windmill, considering that in 2008, Dubya tabled a budget that was only $200 million cheaper than Obama's current one, and at least Obama is taking steps to reduce the debt in the future, unlike the Republicans who always just increased debt at insane levels. Cartoonist Michael Ramirez wins the Golden Hypocrite Award for this week.
