POPSBiofuels cause spike in food prices - duh! I currently think the U.S. is doing it all wrong. The Bush administration is very supportive of biofuels and drilling for oil, but they're not giving nearly enough support to wind and solar. Hopefully with a new President in a few months will come a much more effective energy policy.

POPSBorderlands Sciences Research Foundation
Alternative Science has been known under many titles for thousands of years. It has always been an alternative science because it requires the investigator to go outside of their normal perceptions. Shamans and healers of all ages share a common heritage with the Alternative Scientist. A world of patterns, geometry and subtle radiation are operative to both. Alternative science struggles with language to describe the experience of subtle energy. Teaching how to manipulate this subtle energy has always been a challenge. Borderland Sciences preserves this collection so you can aquire your own education.MORE! 20th Century Collection These research texts provide a look into the early resarch of subtle energy by qualified scienctist before teh materialistic paradigm squeezed vitalism out of the picture.many of these texts hold secrets and models of the physical universe that were classified when they were completely worked out by academic engineers. Drink from the Source.

POPSThe Case Against Meat Animals also need land. Even if they're penned up in industrial agriculture settings. And it turns out they need a lot more of it than do most crops. The following graph (which comes from this pdf) tracks usable protein yield per acre for a host of foods. Meat doesn't fare well:

POPSTom Friedman calls for an "energy internet" Once again, Tom Friedman calls it like it is. This is a smart piece that i recommend everyone read. Despite a lot talk about green energy, i'm still shocked that the U.S. government isn't more focused on it and committed to aiding its development. I guess we can only hope that China and Europe lead the way.

POPSBush War Policy, Oil Prices Chart Must see this chart and pass it on! States and pictorially demonstrates the obvious that no one is saying, i.e war and war fears of Bush government are the main cause behind gas prices.

POPSSolution to global warming: Floating cities The 'Lilypad City' would float around the world as an independent and fully self-sustainable home. With a lake at its centre to collect and purify rainwater, it would be accessed by three separate marinas and feature artificial mountains to offer the inhabitants a change of scenery from the seascape. Power for the central accommodation hub is provided through a series of renewable energy sources including solar panels on the mountain sides, wind turbines and a power station to harness the energy of the waves.

POPSA Giant Solar Tower Could Power the Future On a sunny day, the air at the top of the tower would be 70 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), whereas the air in the greenhouse could reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius). As this hot air escapes up the tower at 34 mph (15 meters per second), it spins 32 turbines that generate up to 200 megawatts of electricity. Even with all this power, the solar tower is less than one tenth as efficient as solar cells in converting the sun's energy into electricity. The advantage for a solar tower is that its materials are much less expensive.
