POPSMr Rude is a Frenchman Actor Simon Callow, who narrated the series, said: "Narrating Mr Men was highly entertaining. The programmes are fun but full of wisdom." The series will first go out on February 25 and is expected to be sold to countries around the world. An American station has already snapped it up. A Five spokesperson said: "Mr Men is a comedy show for four to seven-year-olds. "The fact Mr Rude has a French accent is meant to be light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek and no offence to the French people is intended." A source at the French Embassy said: "It is obviously meant in a light-hearted way but it won't improve Anglo-French relations." Mr Men first came to fame through the little square storybooks which sold more than one million copies in the first three years in the early '70s.

POPSUS Describes Confrontation With Iranian Boats I believe that this was designed to raise the level of instability in the region; perhaps to dissuade the President from going to the region. Personally, I wish he wasn't going. There is nothing to be gained; especially not within the Palestinian/Israeli *peace plan*. Frankly it was a little reminiscent of the USS Cole incident.

POPSAn Internal Clash of the Civilisations? POPSPork: The Other Thanksgiving History More: Those Virginians had a meager meal of ham or bacon from their stores and possibly some oysters dug from the James River, not turkey. So for 60 years, presidents have pardoned the wrong critter. But there's an emerging movement to set the record straight at long last. More than 6,000 children have signed a petition to Mr. Bush to pardon Ginny (short for Virginia), a pig awaiting justice at the Virginia Zoo. Virginia Sen. John Warner (R) and Rep. Thelma Drake (R) have appealed to the chief executive for a pig pardon. Mayor Meyera Oberndorf (D) of Virginia Beach has issued her own pardon During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln decided to create the holiday in an attempt to unify the nation. But for obvious reasons, he couldn't honor Virginia's history – so it became a Massachusetts holiday instead.

POPSStone Age Settlement Found Under English Channel Divers brought the material to the surface still embedded in slabs of the sea floor that were carried up in specially-designed boxes, which were then pieced back together and examined and dated in the lab. "We now have unequivocal evidence of human activity at the site," Momber told LiveScience. "There were people here actively making stuff and being quite industrious." At 8,000 years old, the settlement is the only underwater Mesolithic site in Britain, though it is probably part of a much larger area of occupation yet to be uncovered, Momber said. As the climate began to warm up near the end of the Ice Age about 10,000 years ago, people were moving into Northern Europe and settling down in the many river valleys left behind by melting glaciers, Momber explained.
