POPSThe Law of the Conservation of Violence
Edward S. Herman's article on Z-Net, touches some important points: Can we expect a "way different" (and peaceful) international policy , if Obama wins? Do the Democrats promise to put an end to that "muscular foreign policy" which have harmed America's image for years? An interesting read. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on the campaign trail called for a larger army to meet U.S. "defense" needs. Now Obama wants us to take on a bigger commitment to violence. This will keep the arms cargo ships and planes busy and the bomb factories and plane and missile factories working at full capacity. Of course, those wanting infrastructure improvements and resources will have to wait and "hope" for a better future after our enemies are defeated and full hegemony and stability are established. They need a good dollop of "vision." The law of conservation of the level of violence thus rests on the structure of power and its reflection in politics. If you want to compete

POPSMcCain is Rapidly Emerging as the 3 A.M. President
In contrast, Barack Obama was all over the map, first equivocating Georgia and Russia as equally at fault and calling like a tired parent for all sides to just stop, making no moral distinction between an invader state and a nation invaded. "Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint and avoid escalation into a full scale war," he said. It was a call for peace at any price, and implied that if Georgia should take exception to a foreign invasion, its self-defense was culpable. Jimmy Carter would be so proud. Obama then lazily called on the U.N. to take care of the problem, which ignores the U.N.'s long record of inaction. All the same, turning it over to the U.N. conveniently extricates the U.S. from any responsibility to an ally and shields Obama from peace lobby criticism. Obviously, one candidate has a superior sense of America's strategic interests and the emerging threats over the other, and Russia's invasion of Georgia has laid it out starkly.

POPSGeorgia president pleads for peace talks with South Ossetia Georgian Reintegration Minister Temur Yakobashvili reiterated that Georgia would like to avoid military clashes. "We will temporarily and unilaterally cease fire in the conflict zone. This is our last attempt to avoid large-scale military operations," the minister said, without disclosing a timeframe for the ceasefire.

POPSJustice For Sale. This is obviously true, and that being the case, I am drawn to the conclusion that the US of A is not a democracy, a free country or anything else but a front for corporations, "Justice for sale" means corruption and greed know no bounds. The clippers here were mostly appalled at the way Dick'n'George manipulated the judicial branch, but this...........

POPSThe Obama Doctrine This is an article from The American Prospect that I found on del.icio.us, now that I've been frittering around with Clipmarks. The detail in the article belies the notion that Sen. Obama doesn't have a plan in mind should he take office on the now-familiar "Day One". Despite being an Obama supporter myself, I often wonder whether other supporters (and opponents, for that matter) are paying close attention. I mean, people DO realize that Obama is supporting an escalation of the conflict in Afghanistan, while at the same time reducing American forces in Iraq. Just a thought. Interesting article. Read the WHOLE thing.

POPSU.S. Covert Operations Against Iran Increasing the war already started. Geopolitical news that will lead to higher oil prices in trading. Note this open statement here in even the MSM: U.S. Special Operations Forces have been conducting crossborder operations from southern Iraq since last year Now how would the US or any country react if foreigners were invading your country and committing covert acts of espionage and proxy warfare by stealth? You would consider it an act of war, wouldn't you? This is proof of how much the US is doing to provoke Iran into war, and how much restraint Iran has actually had.

POPSUS Escalating Covert Ops Against Iran Here's the part that gets me: Among groups inside Iran benefiting from U.S. support is the Jundallah, also known as the Iranian People's Resistance Movement, according to former CIA officer Robert Baer. Council on Foreign Relations analyst Vali Nasr described it to Hersh as a vicious organization suspected of links to al Qaeda. We killed Hussein over imagined links to al Qaeda -- now we're one step removed from funding them.

POPS The US Designates Terror-Sponsors In Venezuela. "It is extremely troubling to see the Government of Venezuela employing and providing safe harbor to Hezbollah facilitators and fundraisers," said Adam J. Szubin, Director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control. This designation comes at the same time that intelligence officials tell ABC News they are concerned that Latin America could be a possible target of future Hezbollah attacks. "If I had to think of one thing that worries me, I had the opportunity to spend most of the last two weeks in Latin America. Of course there you see the conjunction of narcotics trafficking and terrorism and there may be a nexus forming between them," said Deputy Director of National Intelligence Don Kerr. DEA officials say they have also been seeing a steady escalation of cocaine being shipped through Venezuelan airspace over the past two years according to radar air track data they monitor.

POPSAttack Iran? Cheney's Already Tried After he become head of the Central Command (Centcom) in March 2007, Admiral William Fallon also made his opposition to such a massive attack on Iran known to the White House, according Middle East specialist Hillary Mann, who had developed close working relationships with Pentagon officials when she worked on the National Security Council staff. Soon after, Adm. Fallon was fired...gee I wonder why? At least there are a few semi-sane generals opposing Cheney.

POPSKohn Signals Wall Street May Get Permanent Access to Fed Loans The Central Bank continues it's non-violent take over of the American Economy. Is that redundant? I mean they already own us with interest backed loans to the government. All our money is loaned to the govt. by the Fed, the money has interest. We pay the interest with money loaned to us from the Fed thereby accruing even more interest. It never ends. This article only points to the new level of escalation on this economic war vs. the American people.
