POPSReconciliation and Sexuality Part 2 Her final paragraph which would't fit within the character limit: God does not offer a “happy ever after” on this earth, but he does offer us the freedom to truly live and truly be even when that involves taking risks that we will not necessarily lead to easy lives or happy conclusions. That said it does give you a strength to “endure” everyday life in ways which may not otherwise be possible I think.

POPSSotomayor, Evangelicals, and Racism The Evangelical understanding of salvation and spiritual life is built around the ongoing relationship the Christian has with Jesus. Being “born again” is the beginning of a lifelong one-on-one relationship with Jesus, that will change the Christian from the inside out, making him or her more holy and Christ-like. The focus here is on the individual and the locus of change is within the individual.

POPSSatan to Pat Robertson: "You're making me look bad" I've been trying not to pay too much attention to Pat Robertson and his shenanigans, but this letter to him, written by Satan himself (channeled by a reader of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune and sent to the paper's editors) is too good not to post.

POPSGlobalizing the Culture Wars: U.S. Conservatives, African Churches and Homophobia

POPS"Islam is of the devil": a Gainsville, FL church attracts controversy The photo and the pastor's comments pretty much speak for themselves. I probably wouldn't have clipped this except for the final paragraph in the clip -- "we are definitely trying to open up dialogue." This baffles me. I wonder what they're actually trying to accomplish -- presumably the primary purpose of the sign is illocutionary in nature. To the pastor, I would point out that "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial" (1 Cor. 6.12). Is this beneficial?

POPSA "celebration of guns" at a Kentucky church Some impressively paranoid quotations can be found in the article, suggesting (it seems to me) that the "parishioners" in this church expect that they will have to use their weapons against the government at some point in the not-too-distant future.
