POPSScripture Warns Us About Glenn Beck The right-wing loonies try to apply Revelations to Obama, but fail miserably, since there is someone who fits the biblical description of The Antichrist much better. Glenn Beck. His cult following of deranged loonies; his pretending to speak for Christians when he actually attacks the very core of Christian beliefs; the fact that people hang on his every word slavishly; his Cult of Personality... all of it is practically the description of the Antichrist, word-for-word. The servants of this hellspawn are desperate to point the faithful's attention away from the true embodiment of evil in the world today, toward a man of modest aspirations. Don't be fooled by pretenders. If there is an Antichrist (and I'm not necessarily saying there is), it's most definitely not Obama. It's Glenn Beck.

POPSSCRIPTURE WARNS US ABOUT OBAMA
Since becoming President, Obama forced healthcare on us with the promise that it will make heath insurance more affordable to everyone. Yet, since its passage, the cost of health insurance has risen quite sharply and the coverage for what you pay for has equally decreased. Also contained in the healthcare are provisions that are in direct violation of the US Constitution, including the mandate that every person purchase health insurance. Hidden within the healthcare bill are a number of taxes that will only hurt middle and lower income families. Most experts are predicting that these taxes are going to hurt the housing market, manufacturing of medical supplies among others and will ultimately result in the loss of thousands of jobs. Obama has given orders to no longer enforce a number of federal laws including the Marriage Protection Act and immigration laws. And as we have seen of recent, he has extended legal protection to millions of people who broke federal laws by enterin

POPSDown with Doom: How the World Keeps Defying the Predictions of Pessimists
Where are the pressure groups that have an interest in telling the good news? They do not exist. By contrast, the behemoths of bad news, such as Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and WWF, spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year and doom is their best fund-raiser. Where is the news media's interest in checking out how pessimists' predictions panned out before? There is none. By my count, Lester Brown has now predicted a turning point in the rise of agricultural yields six times since 1974, and been wrong each time. Paul Ehrlich has been predicting mass starvation and mass cancer for 40 years. He still predicts that `the world is coming to a turning point'. Ah, that phrase again. I call it turning-point-itis. It's rarely far from the lips of the prophets of doom. I got back to 1830 and still the sentiment was being used. In fact, the poet and historian Thomas Macaulay was already sick of it then: `On what principle is it that, when we see nothing but improvement behind us, we are t

POPS"The Book of Eli" -- Film Review
tin-pot dictator named Carnegie (Gary Oldman with his patented theatrical sleaze) holds sway. There is no discernible reason why he should rule a gang unless it's because he's the exception to the rule of near-universal illiteracy. (Carnegie is perusing a biography of Mussolini, please note.) When Carnegie learns that Eli possesses a Bible, he means to win him over to his cause or kill him -- whatever it takes to gain control of that book. Both men see the Bible as the key to social regeneration. A voice has commanded Eli to take the Bible west, where it will be the foundation of a new Earth. Carnegie sees the book as a means of controlling people and their loyalties, as many false prophets have before him. Caught in the showdown between two determined men are Carnegie's adopted daughter, Solara (Mila Kunis), and mistress Claudia (Jennifer Beals) as well as his henchman, Redridge (Ray Stevenson), who fancies Solara for himself. hollywoodreporter http://bit.ly/6Tj7lC

POPSWhy Jimmy Carter left the Southern Baptist Convention Subservience of women to men is a false argument, dependent upon selection of certain verses of the Bible and the exclusion of many others. Suppressing female leadership is a cultural decision of male leaders, not an accurate reading of Scripture.
