POPSFreecycling comes to Facebook What’s a FreeCircle? Every year millions of tons of great stuff ends up in landfills. A FreeCircle connects someone who has something to give away with a thankful neighbor who wants to give that something a new home. Join your local FreeCircle! Now freecycling is becoming available on the more modern Facebook interface.

POPSDo you own your 'stuff' or does your 'stuff' own you? This is a MUST read for anyone who feels like they are on a possessions treadmill and can't get off. Many freecyclers are actively motivated by an inner need to simplify their lives. Shedding "stuff" is part and parcel of simplifying.

POPSYour Ecosystem More great, simple wisdom from Seth! Symbiosis? I've frequently described freecycling as a symbiotic relationship. Freecycle groups often want to focus solely on the "giving" end. But, without "taking", there's nothing. Kind of like the sound of one hand clapping.

POPSKeep Your Personal Life Out of the Office I've discovered that we have 67 members on the FullCircles Ottawa Freecycling group registered with their Government of Canada email addresses. I'm sending them a note suggesting this is not a good idea. I'm suggesting a Gmail address as an alternative.

POPSFreecycle@work Freecycle has partnered with Intuit to create Freecycle@work which uses Intuit's Quickbase to power workplace based freecycling. What a cool idea!

POPSEdible Violet Recipes A member of the local Ottawa Freecycling group has offered up some wild violet plants. Although these plants are pretty, and EDIBLE, they spread mercilessly throughout lawns. So be careful if you plant them. They quickly get away on you.

POPSFREE - suit This is sort of like Bookcrossing (Bookcrossing.com)... only with a men's suit instead of books.

POPSFreecycling simplified It can (and has been) done even without an Internet connection. One person's trash is almost always another person's treasure. Thank goodness for diversity!

POPSThe ENORMOUS cost of raising a child 200k per child... that's $307 CAD. And remember, that is in AFTER TAX $$. At a marginal tax rate of even 30%, you'd need to earn $438K in order to have $307 to spend. Don't forget to add freecycling to the list of ways to substantially reduce this cost.

POPSDisposal of Mattresses: Recycling is the environmentally friendly way In any visual image -- photograph, video -- you see of landfills, mattresses are everywhere. Surely there must be a better way. Apparently there is! As a result of a request on a local Ottawa freecycling group, one of the members did a bit of research and found this Montreal based company that recycles mattresses. MattCanada now has a US plant in Frederick, MD. The mattress recycling program that MattCanada offers has been so successful that even foreign governments have asked MattCanada to help them with their ever-increasing mattress problem.

POPSWhen your intent is to "Give Back" Thanks to Elle D'Coda for amplifying the "Intents" website. This particular one is a nice reminder for our FullCircles, ReUseIt, Freecycling communities. Some members have been the recipient of many gifts and have not yet "given back"... at least in any visible way.

POPSFreecycle: The Craigslist of FREE Stuff Freecycle is great. But if you want to cover all your bases and get quickest results, you need to consider other gifting resources: fullcircles.org, reuseitnetwork.org; kijiji; usedeverywhere.com; etc.

POPSGot Kids? Be Frugal Lots of good tips for parents here on being frugal. In Canada, in addition to Freecycle, we also have FULLCIRCLES.org -- a more local, Canadian spin on freecycling.
