POPSNow that is just harsh Add to that this bit of data. During the election, many liberals complained that President Bush was running the national debt up too high and the Communist Chinese government owned too much of that debt. A lot of fiscal conservatives agreed with them on that. After the election, the fiscal conservatives stuck by their principles and most liberals abandoned theirs as our Dear Leader raised the national debt in six months an amount that it took GWB eight years to reach, selling most of that new debt to the Communist Chinese government.

POPSWhat Happens When You Release Gitmo Vermin.... Imagine if you're a Gitmo guard who was responsible for watching these things, who couldn't take a piss or pray to Allah unless you said so...and now you see this video of them setting off IEDs and killing their fellow soldiers. I can't even begin to imagine how enraging that must be.....

POPSRepublican Cowards
How are the men at Guantanimo — many of whom have actually been found innocent — any more dangerous than American-born Serial Killers and Terrorists? What magical powers to the hostages in Gitmo have that will make them better at escaping from American prisons? What are they (and the Democratic governors, for that matter) afraid of? Nothing. Wisps and shadows. Smoke and mirrors. America has nothing to fear by putting them in American jails, other than <gasp!> giving them fair trials and letting justice be done. If Americans want to be treated with fairness and justice in other countries, then it behoves them to give foreigners the same courtesy. Then there's the fact that these men (and boys!) did not come to America by their own free will. They were kidnapped from the Middle East, and put under American supervision against their will. As for "terrorists released on American Soil", the US law already deals with that. Foreign prisoners are deported to their own countries afterw

POPSGitmo Detainees to Work as Wal-Mart Greeters The "Gitmo to Greet Mo'" program bypasses maximum-security federal penitentiaries located all over the United States and instead pays for jihadists' food and housing and provides them work. The thinking is that terrorists will not want to blow up America if they get to experience first-hand how nice and welcoming Americans are. However, this scenario will create a whole new set of terrorists: old ladies who lost their jobs to terrorists.

POPSMore Gitmo Detainees Released
Four Chinese Muslims detained at Guantanamo Bay prison were freed earlier this week and resettled in Bermuda. See: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090611/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_guantanamo_uighur_detainees Obama's justice dept. has been going through the cases from Day One...now innocent people, some of whom had spent nearly a decade in jail and tortured during the Bush Administration, have been set free. From here the story spins off in many ways. Warmongers and critics of Obama fill the news claiming we are now "less safe." Communities throughout the USA and other nation don't want these freed prisoners in their nations or states; they are still stigmatized, It's not like there is an instant Hollywood "happy ending," or anything, more like a rescue team picking through the rubble of a collapsed building, rescuing what they can. A lot of religions allege compassion as a core belief. This would be a good time for it. Those who would ferment religious war still dominate th

POPSHate Crime @ Holocaust Museum
This is an interesting cross-section of responses to yesterday's shooting at the Holocaust Museum. There were also comments asking what it was okay to propose 'hateful' policies against Hispanic illegal aliens or why it was okay for Israel to hate and make war in Gaza and the West Bank. What struck me? -- Well, more and more Big Lie cliches are being shouted around: the shooter was instantly perverted, for example, because he was a 'Holocaust Denier,' when (like Ahmadinejad of Iran) - they are not Denying the Holocaust they say it gets too much attention and is being used to cover up the crimes of Israel today. That's a big difference but the Big Lie quickly wants to shout that idea down. I, myself, wonder: Why do we have a Holocaust Museum? I mean, if you like that theme of museum focusing on human suffering and abuse why not a Native American Indian Genocide Museum? -- at least that would be part of American History. Or maybe a Gitmo Torture Museum? Or a Potato Fami

POPSFive New Reasons (and One Old One) Why We Must Close Guantanamo Now Reason #4: U.S. Federal Courts -- and U.S. Prisons -- Are Perfectly Equipped to Handle Terrorism Suspects So what about those prisoners who aren't innocent? Surely of the 239 "detainees" still held at Guantánamo at least some need to be kept locked up, right? Sure. And like terrorism suspects that came before them, these men should be tried in a court of law -- a real, legitimate court of law, not the kangaroo courts cobbled together by then-Vice President Dick Cheney and his chief of staff David Addington in the weeks after Sept. 11.

POPSObama's "Get Out of Jail Free Plan" This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why in heaven's name would we want to bring the enemy into our own camp. Transfer from one prison to another prison. Why not just keep him in PRISON IN GITMO and try him there? This is ridiculous but then Obama is a big joke unfortunately the joke is on the good citizens of the United States.

POPSFirst Gitmo Detainee Slipped into U.S. for Trial Ghailani, a Tanzanian, was in his twenties when prosecutors say he helped terrorists build one of the bombs that destroyed U.S. embassies in East Africa in 1998. He left Africa just before the bombings, according to investigators. After the Aug. 7, 1998, bombings at U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Ghailani worked for Al Qaeda as a document forger, trainer at a terror camp and bodyguard to bin Laden, according to military prosecutors. The decision to try Ghailani in New York also revives a long-dormant case charging bin Laden and top Al Qaeda leadership with plotting the embassy attacks that killed more than 200 people and injured thousands, including many who were blinded by shards of flying glass. The attacks prompted then-President Bill Clinton to launch cruise missile attacks two weeks later on bin Laden's Afghan camps.

POPSCrazy right-wing myths about Obama 2.0
Cont.... Myth: Obama plans to resettle hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the United States. Who's spreading it: One of the original sources of the belief might have been this Feb. 7 article. New Media Journal is a news site run by a nonprofit group called BasicsProject.org, which states that its mission is to "re-introduce the American public to the basic elements of our constitutional heritage while providing non-partisan, fact-based information on relevant socio-political issues important to our country, specifically, but not limited to, the threats of aggressive Islamofascism and the American Fifth Column." The diatribe below, posted on Snopes.com, seems to have started as a post on Wizbang that picked up the claims in the New Media Journal article. It also turned up here and here. What they believe: "President Barack Obama has signed an executive order ... allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to resettle in the United States. Sure, what can go wrong when w

POPSObama Reaches Out To Apartheid Regime Purging Jewish Families From Yemen the Palestinian and Israeli, stopping building settlements and his confession of the Palestinians' rights and that security of Israeli is linked to a just solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Less high on Yemen's list: closing the terrorist camps that their intelligence services use for political ends, up to and including the targeting of domestic opponents: Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh faces crises on many fronts. A southern populist uprising in the six governorates of the former PDRY has taken on separatist overtones. At the same time, the northern Saada war with Zaidi Shiite rebels may erupt for the sixth time since 2004. As a result, Saleh has embarked on a strategy of empowering Islamic militants who, in exchange, have been given a free hand over some local populations. At least those camps don't then become safe havens for international terrorism. Think how awkward that would be.

POPSThe So Called Libera Media VIII: NYT carried false Pentagon claims Cont.... The article seemed to adopt the Pentagon’s contention that freed prisoners had “returned” to terrorism, ignoring independent reporting by The Times and others that some of them may not have been involved in terrorism before but were radicalized at Guantánamo. It failed to distinguish between former prisoners suspected of new acts of terrorism — more than half the cases — and those supposedly confirmed to have rejoined jihad against the West. Had only confirmed cases been considered, one in seven would have changed to one in 20. Most of the caveats about the report were deep in the article, where they could hardly offset the impact of the headline, the first paragraph and

POPSIn The Messiah's Fantasy World Of Rainbows & Unicorns In the Messiah’s world I guess Germany would be a valid example of going green if it was sustainable and if they were not dismantling a great deal of it at this time. The currently generate 15% of their energy through renewable sources. As it turns out Germany has neither much sun nor much wind and renewable energy companies are mostly on the government dole at a huge expense to the country. Sounds Obama-like with some sort of thing they call a “feed-in-tariff” whereby the producers are guaranteed a price 7 times higher than the wholesale rate for the next 20 years. The German electricity bill went up 38% in one year in 2007. And the Germans have discovered that renewable energy is very inefficient in all respects thus it will always be tremendously costly compared to other forms of power. And what about the Obama fantasy called cap-and-trade which is also a disaster in Europe.
