Chinese Green Tea”
rob24hrs
by rob24hrs  2-22-2008
Have you tasted Chinese green tea? As you all know, green tea is the most popular types of Chinese tea. Many people, not only Chinese, consider it as the best drink for sultry summers. The main reason for this claim is the fact that green tea is cool and fights off inflammation. Many have even claimed that it relieves fever.

birth weight and size determine adult health
sylviadafox
by sylviadafox  11-15-2007
"A study published last year by Dr. Barker and his colleagues hinted of a possible link between intrauterine hormonal or nutritional factors and the risk of developing ovarian cancer. Noting that there is an association between ovarian cancer and tallness, the researchers examined early growth in 5,585 women in Hertfordshire. Although there was no difference in average birth weights, the 41 women who died from ovarian cancer ''had had a high rate of weight gain in infancy,'' weighing nearly a pound more on average at their first birthday than women free of this cancer. The researchers suggested that hormonal patterns that affected the ovary might be established in utero and result in speeded growth in infancy, early menarche and an increased risk of infertility and ovarian cancer later in life. Human hibernation mooted as solution to obesity
Amergin
by Amergin  8-30-2007    1
The idea comes on the back of his team's discovery that the chemical 5-adenosine monophosphate, or 5-AMP, induces a state of torpor in mice, which do not usually hibernate. Lee says that a capsule or injection of 5-AMP could induce a similar state in humans, and the accompanying metabolic changes could help treat a range of conditions associated with obesity, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and eating disorders. What to make of this? It's an extraordinary idea, but it will need to be backed by good peer-reviewed evidence if it is ever to progress from a mere suggestion.

Sugary breakfast cereals may boost memory.
pokkets
by pokkets  7-2-2007    1
The kids have short term, memory improvement, but it doesn't take long for the glucose to burn out and leave them empty. They also need a memory for the last few hours of school. Low GI are slow release, and can maintain the memory for much longer, though maybe without the acute rush. What can be as important are the artificial colours, flavouring, and preservatives that can play havoc with a child's metabolism. Substantial breakfasts are needed, because it is amazing how many kids either throw prepare lunches away if they don't like them, or use them to trade up. They learn about trade not nutrition.Once children are introduced to sugar they won't be happy with anything else. A sugar rush to a child, is like a shot of adrenaline to an adult
